Hotel terbaik di Sogndal

L’accueil est bon. Dans l’entrée, on découvre de grandes pièces avec déjà de gros fauteuils en cuir sur lesquels il est possible de se reposer. La chambre qui nous a été attribuée se trouve à l’étage, à l’extrémité du bâtiment par rapport à la rue. Elle est surprenante. D’abord, il s’agit d’une très grande pièce, meublée de plusieurs fauteuils en cuir, avec un autre lit une place et un meuble original. Il y a des fenêtres sur toute la longueur de la pièce qui s'occultent avec de grands rideaux La vue donne sur le fjord. Ensuite, il existe au pied du lit un grand poste de télévision tourné vers la partie salon et, collé à celui-là, un autre plus petit dirigé vers la tête de lit. La salle de bains est grande et agréable. L’hôtel est situé dans un quartier calme et nous n’avons entendu aucun bruit la nuit. Le petit déjeuner, qui se prend dans la grande salle à manger de l’hôtel, est bien fourni. Un peu moins sans doute que les autres hôtels que nous avons eus. Nous n’avons pas dîné à l’hôtel, mais c’est possible. Il existe plusieurs possibilités de manger rapidement tout près de l’hôtel. Nous avons choisi, quant à nous, le café-bar Dampskipskaien, au bord du fjord, à une centaine de mètres de l’hôtel. Sympathique, on y trouve beaucoup de jeunes. Ce n’est pas un véritable restaurant. A noter un choix de bières originales. Avec une voiture, il est possible de se garer devant l’hôtel ou sur le côté, voire dans les rues voisines. Le parking n’appartient pas à l’hôtel et il est donc payant, au tarif le plus fréquent en Norvège (moins de 2€ l’heure), mais uniquement en journée. Il est gratuit de 17 h à 8 h du matin. Nous n’avons passé qu’une nuit dans cet hôtel. C’est une halte agréable avant d’entamer une journée, par exemple en partant en ferry à Kaupanger (l’embarcadère est vraiment tout proche et on peut voir une belle église en bois juste avant d'y arriver).

This is a nice hotel in Sognal. It is very centrally located right along a nice creek and near everything in town. The layout is a little weird. If you park in the back in the parking garage (which you have to pay for) you have to walk around the parking lot, up a ramp, through the restaurants, and into the lobby. There is a really old wing and a new wing. Our rooms were in the new wing. The larger restaurant only serves tour groups. The smaller restaurant is open to all guests but has a much more limited menu. The rooms were very comfortable and mine had a nice patio door with a view of the creek and mountains.

Vesterland is a large place, with both hotel rooms and cottages, pool, gym, golf simulator, children's playground, etc. - and we were initially apprehensive, as we didn't want to stay at a overly loud place that cares more about how to ”sound” good, than pay attention to its customers, having so many of them. However, it's was close to Sognefjord and nothing else was available, so we booked a cottage there. Turned out it was a great choice! The cottage was spotless, the reception was no-nonsense helpful, and the restaurant, while having limited choices, served tasty food. it was also pretty quiet and didn't feel like you are swarmed everywhere by people. The cottage itself had everything one might want for either camping or just a rest from it, and was very enjoyable. They also don't charge or require cleaning if you stay for one night, and if you stay for more, you can choose what to clean yourself and what to pay for so it would be done for you (cleaning/washing dishes/garbage/ removing of linen, etc.). We had a very nice stay, that was both private and accommodating.
