hubby and I love this place for many reasons. we live 3 hours away and it breaks our journey at times when travelling north. Our big PLUS is that we allowed to take our 2 dogs. a golden retriever and a wee border terrier. we take their own beds and they are allowed to sleep in the lounge part.. The Motel has a wonderful doggy park just behind motels that is a large area with trees and totally fenced off.so they can have a really good play out there,, The motel is in a lovely quiet country spot which is really pretty .. Has all cooking amentities in it - so can prepare food.. some are a bit older - but part of the charm - its not flash and modern.... but it is very very clean and comfortable. shower was great!!!! and bed and sheets were really nice..this time went overnight to take a horse to the vet up there,,, definetly always stay here and our hosts are lovely and very accommodating.!!!!totally recommend staying here..

This place, the rooms and the service provided by John at the reception was par excellence. Although I was in a rush and I checked in at 11.30 in the night John was super courteous and friendly. He was very polite. The rooms were super clean and the ambience was lovely. I stayed only for five hours before I had to depart for catching a flight but I so wish I would have stayed longer...But surely next time...and John, If you are listening...A BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND NATURE AND HELPFUL SERVICE

There were lots of great things about this place, and at the same time it's the strangest place I have stayed in! First the great things - immaculate, amazing bed and super amazing shower. Large room, All of that was perfect. Then the not so great - nothing in the room to read about where to go for food, whether any place might deliver, wanted to order breakfast and it didn't seem to be an option. Ended up googling, then not finding the place I was looking for in Mosgiel (maybe it's shut down? It was all dark) so was happy to find Countdown and a soup for dinner with some food for breakfast. Then the terrible - they say they are contactless, which is all fine in this new world. I didn't know this before I came. As a result I didn't see a soul and as a traveller from out of town who was on her own I felt a little unsafe at having no contact with anyone (even at a distance would have been OK!). It felt a bit post-apocalyptic. I was wondering if they are scared to see people! This is New Zealand and there is no COVID in the community, so it seemed a bit over the top. I had trouble locking the door (it's a European lock and the instructions weren't enough for me), so went looking for help. Rang the door bell. No reply (there was a car outside and the lights were on). Then saw a notice saying I should phone. Did that and the recorded message said no one was available to talk to me Then got a text saying ”Please text me”, did that saying I can't lock the door. No reply. I texted again asking if someone could please help me. Then I got a text back with better instructions which worked. That was the sum contact I had. If I had a serious problem would anyone have helped me? I didn't feel safe, as it felt like there was no one who would help out at all. In this regard I found the place quite unwelcoming. If they had reading material in the room with helpful info and including some warm and welcoming words, and so I could know that someone was there and actually cared, it would have helped a lot. I would have been quite happy not to see anyone, but to know they were there in the event of an emergency. So the summary - this was the most comfortable place I have stayed in for a long time. But as a single female traveller who needed some help with the room and a pointer as to where to get food on a winters night, I didn't feel safe.

Le Carisbrook Motel est situé en pleine ville dans un bâtiment à deux niveaux, celui du bas étant occupé par les garages et des locaux techniques comme la buanderie. Accueil sympathique par les propriétaires logés dans une petite maison en face du motel. Grand appartement de trois pièces, au premier étage, de plain-pied sur la rue dont il est séparé par un petit jardin. Séjour vaste avec un canapé à deux places, une table basse, une table carrée, trois chaises et un lit pour une personne. La première chambre possède un grand lit, deux tables de nuit et un support de valise. La seconde a deux lits d’une personne, une table de nuit, une chaise et une grande penderie. La cuisine est dans une petite pièce à côté de la salle de bains. Elle est équipée d’un réfrigérateur, d’une cuisinière et d’un four à micro-onde. Le matériel pour faire la cuisine est relativement complet ainsi que la vaisselle et les couverts pour quatre personnes. La salle de bains est minuscule mais les WC sont isolés avec une porte, ce qui est rare dans ce type d’établissement et même dans des hôtels d’un standing plus élevé comme nous l’avons constaté dans les 14 établissements que nous avons fréquentés en Nouvelle-Zélande. Lavabo avec deux robinets. Douche avec pommeau fixe et système de réglage complexe pour avoir le débit et la température désirés. Porte serviette chauffant. Il n’y avait qu’un radiateur électrique d’appoint pour chauffer les trois pièces, mais il était suffisant. Compte tenu du prix (272 NZD en octobre), de la situation et du niveau de confort, nous recommandons ce motel.

I love this place. The facilities are lovely - up-to-date and modern design while still respecting the Art Deco architecture. You can hear and see the sea from the apartment and there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bus to the city stops outside the door, with easy parking on site. Close to great cafes and restaurants. Lovely walks along the beach. I always stay here when I am in Dunedin - fourth time!
