The view was perfect although it was quite far from the port area it took 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive there. We were in awe it was very clean and there were numerous wildlife found in the island. We had our own personal butler so it was easy to request for the things we needed. There were limited choices for the food and a bit pricey. There were not a lot of tourists during that time and we were very satisfied with that because it seemed that the whole area was ours at that moment. It was a perfect place to stay and relax. They also accept credit card for some payments but make sure you have cash when you want to get a massage. Their massage therapist was really good my husband and I were able to relax.
The initial welcome was very good for a hotel of this kind. The room was okay although a coat of paint would make it more pleasing than scuff marks everywhere. The lighting was stark - recessed bright bulbs do not give the right ambiance when no dimming. There is a lack of reading lamps above the bed (yes people do still read). The aircon unit was very noisy at night - this appears to be dependant on the make. Although we were out for a whole day on our return the room had not been made up and tea/coffee went un- replenished. Given the market this hotel is aiming for this was a huge disappointment. The in house meals weee good but there is a lack of consistency with staff service which could be improved.
Our staycation in Crusoe cabins is nothing short but amazing. The check-in is organize and have a dedicated staff to guide and tour you to the cabin. They provide wrist bands with touch function for room access which is quite innovative. The room had two bunk beds which is very sturdy, comfy beds and it is impeccable clean. The AC (bit cold) are functioning well, restroom is quite well maintained. The convertible sofa bed is nice for a netflix night. The swimming pool is beautiful, offers a good view of Davao gulf. We enjoyed the pool slides both adult and for the kids. The beach shoreline not so impressive since it was rainy on early morning. But we still enjoyed swimming at the deep area. We had fantastic dinner at their restaurant (Captain Barbozza), group meal set which is money saver. The food is great and commendable, everyone approves it. While our breakfast had been served at the terrace, we got silog meals and it was satisfying. Overall, we had good impression and experience at Crusoe Cabins Costa Azalea. We highly recommend them to stay in Samal.

Another beautiful resort in Philippines, Pearl Farm Beach Resort is a beautiful place nestled between the waters of Davao Gulf and the hills of Samal Island. Our Samal House room was perched above the water and we could hear the gentle waves lapping the shoreline at night. Very relaxing. The staff were always smiling and quick to assist with any questions we had. Excellent!! The food was very good, the selection and variety of the buffet quite impressive. This applied to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My only suggestion is it would have been better if there was another restaurant or two that served a la carte. Nothing wrong with the buffet, just preferred other options. Overall, very impressive and will definitely recommend. Well done.
Been wanting to visit Samal Island for the longest time. Discovery Samal was said to be one of the best if not the best resorts in the island. The resort itself from the ameneties, architecture, cleanliness and the actual beach was top notch. Would definitely say that this is one of the most gorgeous resorts we've stayed in. Service though unfortunately, was the opposite of 5 stars. Sharing below a few pointers: Samal Welcome Center - good place, helpful staff. did pre check in procedures there. Departure time though was not acurate. Despite the schedule stating that the departure was at 11 am, we left almost 12 pm. Check in - Most chaotic part of the trip. After receiving welcome drinks, there is no order on how to proceed with check in. Guests were all over the front desk not knowing how or where to queue. Took a while for staff to notice that there are guests waiting. Arrived at around 12 am and was told that room wasn't available. This was ok since check in time was at 3 pm. Was informed that we would be receiving a call once room is ready. Up until 3pm, no calls were received. Visited the front desk multiple times from 12 pm - 3 pm but it's as if they were meeting us for the first time. Did not help as well that there were no staff available during check in time. During actual check in, the only thing that was mentioned by the front desk is to wait for our room cards. There was no info on how to go around the hotel, breakfast details, wifi access, how to go to rooms etc. Had to consult with other staff members to secure all details. Front desk needs serious retraining. Despite that, everyone was very friendly. Room (Junior Suite) - very good and complete. beautiful interiors and above average finishing. bed was a perfect 10 for us. room service on the other hand was not the best. Requested for water and ice, despite multiple follow ups came 1 hour later. Food - good for resort food. Drinks - 2nd most chaotic part of the trip. There was a happy hour at 4 - 6 pm but was informed by waiters that there was only 1 bartender serving the entire resort. People were getting very furious with the wait. Complaints from people filled the beach area. After 1 hr and 20 minutes of waiting, drinks arrived for us. Waiter was very nice to explain what happened. Operations need huge improvements as waiters unfortunately get all the complaints of customers. This somewhat ruined the mood of ”sunset and cocktails” cause drinks arrived during the evening already. Quality of drinks though was above average. Getting around - not the best but far from the worst. Wait time was manageable. Staff were very friendly and responsive to requests. Breakfast Buffet - Above average dishes. Not chaotic at all. Order was in place. The only hard part was getting water from waiters. Would be helpful if restaurant decides to just leave a water dispenser. Check out and transfers - fast and efficient. done in 15 mins. transfers back to davao city was flawless. Overa

La Vida Hostel is a cozy retreat that stands out in Samal Island. Ninio, the owner and artist, wowed us with his dedication and warm hospitality. The hostel feels like a live-in gallery, surrounded by nature's beauty.
Breakfasts here are fantastic – don't miss out on the French toast! The place has a chilled-out vibe that's perfect for kicking back after exploring the island. Plus, it's super close to Peñaplata town, making it easy to rent a scooter and go on an adventure.
If you're into art, good food, and friendly faces, La Vida is the spot. It's a simple, welcoming place that's ideal for soaking up the local scene. Definitely worth the stay!
We actually went as a couple and with friends. There's no option for that here. I am going to repeat some things you will have read in other reviews but there is much more that isn't. The place in general and the cottages are immaculate. We had a single cottage, not an attached one, same as did both of the other couples who were with us. All were equally nice. But it was not only the cottage, but the grounds, Heck they even racked the sand each night.. all the sand. The staff were amazing and more than earn they salary. They were great. We will return to the place again, so anything I say next is not to indicate anything other then there is always some room for improvement. In our cottage, (#01) you have to wait a good five minutes for hot water in the shower if you are to take your shower at 6am... later in the day, we noticed the hot water came faster, but I normally don't shower at 11am. Also, there are no hand towels, so if you are going to wash your hands, you have to use your bath towel. You get a thermal carafe of brewed coffee and a local newspaper left for you each morning on the terrace The coffee was not very hot, but it was OK. My wide did request a kettle and they did bring one to us. There is a safe in the room , but it is not programmable, nor is there any number pad. You need a key for it and that means a trip to the front desk. Ask for it when you check in. We didn't as we have never seen a safe like this before. The electrical outlets, with the exception of one on the terrace are all dual spade Philippine electrical outlets. Since, in the Philippines, when you buy something electrical, you often get a EU, or UK or US three prong plug, the lack of 'universal outlets and/or a converter in the room meant the only place my wife could plug in the hair straightener was on the terrace, outside. So bring your own converters and if you are coming from the USA, don't plug anything in. There is no 115V service. The food in is good and priced very fairly. However, breakfast items are beyond minimal. You want eggs? OK if you other sunny-side up, you will get two eggs with hard yolks. (That may be what you want, but I like runny yolks. One of our group not understanding how things works, ordered two sunny-side up eggs. He was given two two-egg orders... four eggs. Want them easy over?... that's not on the menu. You can get 'firm' scrambled eggs. And you can get an omelette if you want tomatoes and onions in it, not wrapped into it. But that is the only type of omelette. Our group grumbled a bit about the egg issues including fried eggs that arrived pretty cold. . Want cereal? Well that is only cornflakes, (which I ordered as there was no other option). It was served in a cup with some half sour (to my taste buds) 'fresh' mink in a separate coffee cup (not a pitcher) and no sugar. You have to ask for sugar separately. And yeh, the milk doesn't pour nicely out of the coffee cup. There are no other breakfast items on the menu. In
The place is very nice and relaxing. I will surely be back here
