We were very happy with our two-night stay in Studio no. 12, which was spacious, tastefully appointed and had everything we needed. The host/manager Ricardo was very solicitous, regularly checking that we were satisfied and asking whether we needed anything. Our only real bone of contention had less to do with Sophia Studios and more to do with the location, with noise from the [busy] street outside and nightclubs and the like penetrating the fully closed windows and shutters. That aside, the location is excellent, within walking distance of everything you'll want to see.

What a terrific hotel. New, clean, quiet, comfortable room and excellent customer service from all the staff. Had a soft supportive king bed, bar refrigerator, tea and coffee station and lots of storage. Breakfast was extensive with some hot offerings (scrambled eggs and bacon), cold cuts, cheese, breads for toasting and buns plus pastries and fruit…and a coffee and tea station in a beautiful setting - either inside or out. A short walk takes you to the river walk and parks and the great restaurants are just outside the hotel door - literally. We had some wonderful pasta on one night and tried the salt cod and steak at the other place just next door.

This hotel is a hidden gem! Great location that includes being minutes (walking) from the heart of old city center of Coimbra, great small resturants, shopping, and seeing the university. There is also a grocery store about 2 minutes walking distance which is always a bonus in my book. This hotel is located about 4 walking minutes from the train station and about a 7 minute drive from the bus station. What I loved about this hotel is the bar area, which is also the breakfast area, and then you walk up a flight of stairs to one of the best roof top sitting area! Amazing picture taking. The bar opens at 4:00PM and offers light eats, wine, beer, and other drinks. Good prices as well. Breakfast is very good with eggs, bacon, fruit, and many other items. The only con I would say is that the rooms are a little dated and bare essentials provided. However, it doesn't keep me from recommending the hotel highly and I would love to visit again. Also, bonus the staff is very friendly and helpful. Great stay!

Desde o primeiro contacto que tudo foi muito bom. O atendimento, a disponibilidade e o acolhimento de todos os colaboradores/profissionais foi extraordinário. Fizeram um upgrade á minha reserva e ofereceram ”um mimo”. A suite era muito confortável, ampla, agradável, limpa e tudo funcionava na perfeição. O pequeno almoço foi muito variado, com produtos frescos de qualidade e estes constantemente a serem repostos, os profissionais atentos aos hóspedes e a tudo o que passava na sala. O ginásio estava bem equipado, a piscina estava limpa e o banho turco disponível.

PPengguna TetamuWe had a family suite here, overlooking the river. The room was large and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom looked to be new and well equipped. The desk staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. There is daily service for the rooms. Parking is very close, cheap and safe. The added bonuses of staying here are a shared kitchen with a small, delightful rooftop terrace and a larger terrace on the first floor. Walking over the bridge to the main pedestrian street takes less than 5 minutes. The Santa Clara neighborhood is quiet with a number of restaurants. A large supermarket is about a ten minute walk away from town. NOTE - it is difficult to find the building coming in off the highway. It is and the end of the block with no clear identification by the door. The name is on the river side. You need to drive over a sidewalk from the main road as the short street is quite easy to miss. This place is a real find, so glad we stayed here!

PPengguna TetamuI absolutely loved staying at this place. All the staff were friendly, efficient and professional making for a very enjoyable couple of days. The entire experience was relaxing from the check in, the paperwork was done whilst I drank the offered beer, the introduction to my room by the guy on the check in desk to the evenings spent on the terrace - my glass was kept topped up by waiters who were careful to check if I wanted a refill without being tiresome or intrusive. I also enjoyed the modern Italian restaurant, the food was great and the service was, once again, fantastic. The rooms were very interesting, comfortable and with air conditioning that worked very well (that should be a given in any hotel but often is not). The hotel refers to them as 'cubicles' but I don't think that does them justice, they are beautiful, under ground, wood lined cabins.

MMdoval4Hemos estado una noche y ha sido una estancia muy agradable. Para empezar hicimos la reserva a través de Booking, pero por motivos personales tuvimos que adelantar la estancia una noche, lo comentamos y no hubo ningún problema ni tampoco un coste adicional. La comunicación en todo momento muy bien, vía WhatsApp indicando como entrar y acceder al alojamiento. La habitación es más amplia de lo esperado, muy limpia y renovada. Nos ha gustado mucho. A parte hay una zona comunitaria con cocina y terraza donde incluso puedes utilizar todos los productos y comida que dejan. Lo único malo que diría es que no tiene ascensor y si estás en la tercera planta como nosotros es un poco incomodo subir y bajar las maletas.

Todos os funcionários e funcionárias muito prestáveis e simpáticos (as) . Boa higiene e tudo bem arrumado e preparado. Toda a pousada está nitidamente remodelada, proporcionando um ambiente aconchegante, a mesma está localizada local que está perto de diversos pontos turísticos, farmácias, supermercados e outros serviços.

The highlight was how helpful Louisa was with our confusing issue with the trains going on strike. She immediately researched our journey and found us solutions. I was amazing and will be forever grateful! From the moment I explained our predicament she went above and beyond to help us. The hotel alone was fabulous but Louisa is the diamond in this palace!

PPengguna TetamuVery basic chained hotel - take note there are old rooms and new rooms for the hotel in Coimbra. The photos listed mostly show the new rooms but we were given the old room which was super dated. Even the remote control for the TV was not working. We requested for the new room and thankfully one was available for immediate check-in. Apparently only 5 out of 90 rooms are revamped? Only the reception staff could speak English. Location was about 10 mins walk to city centre and 5 mins drive from Coimbra-B train station via Uber. You may refer to my photos to see the difference between the old and the new room.

Baroque Library - University of Coimbra

To visit the library to buy tickets, package 24 euros per person, in addition to the library there is a degree auditorium, classrooms and other places can be entered with tickets. The ticket shows the admission time of the library, so you must go to the library first and then go elsewhere. Visit one by one from the entrance, the doors between each area open regularly and then enter the next area. The library is beautifully decorated and a good place to read quietly. But I don't know where the students are reading now.

Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova
MM49***70A very distinctive attraction, walking from the bridge to the left of the river, the entrance is more difficult to find. Tickets 4 euros. First watch the 15-minute historical short film with English letters. After watching, visit the monastery site. It is very beautiful and the broken site gives people a heavy sense of history. recommend!
National Museum Machado de Castro
天天边的海999Walking through the old church, halfway up the mountain, I saw the white tall new church under the blue sky and white clouds. I was thinking about the road to see it, and I turned my head and saw the beautiful National Museum in this courtyard. Because our focus is on the University of Coimbra, we have not entered the tour. But we are interested in its observation deck, but unfortunately the view is more "miscellaneous", mainly because the geographical location is not high enough.
