DdaischopThis location was by far one of our best hotel nights on our trip headed up to Minnesota. The hotel is located in an area where it is situated amongst a mixed living community. Hospital, stores, shopping, eating, apartments, hiking, breweries and more. Finding the hotel was easy, the not so easy was finding the parking. Once we checked in getting directions to the parking location was a little difficult. Based on reviews I had read prior, I knew that it was behind the hotel. What would be helpful is perhaps a map of the area and the parking. After a few missed turns we are able to determine the proper spot for parking. This because our initial parking was further down the block than where we checked in. The check in process was easy, other than the vague parking directions. Our room was clean and bright, overlooking the parking lot. The bed was comfortable with various pillow options to choose from. The comforter was the perfect lightness to keep us warm but not heavy. Breakfast was pleasant a nice variety and tasty options for breakfast. A large area to eat, visit, and sit was available in this area. Based on our experience with Homestead Suites, I've been making a point to stay at other Hilton branded locations on the rest of our trip. For us it was an A+ experience all around.
This is a beautiful brand new hotel which happens to be next to an active train line. A quick glance at Google Earth shows that the tracks are 175 feet from the hotel room windows. Depending on your tolerance for noise, this might be a problem for you. I hesitated to write this review but my experience in calling the hotel in advance makes it necessary. When we booked the hotel, I noticed the nearby train tracks and called the front desk to ask if this was still an active line. One woman told me that she had never seen a train come through and another employee said she had never had a complaint about train noise. The evening we were checking in a freight train came through. The morning we checked out a train came through at 6:00 AM. Since this is an urban area, I believe the trains have a speed limit of 25 MPH. The noise is not deafening, just rumbling annoying. If you don't mind a little rumbling noise, be sure to ask for a room on the side of the hotel away from the tracks. Once again, other than the train issue this is a great hotel. I just wish that the hotel employees would have been more up-front with me about the trains.
PPengguna TetamuI stayed here the other night on my way to Indiana. I wouldn’t call the place a dump, but I wouldn’t call it a nice place, either. The price was affordable, yes. Check-in was easy, but the desk staff weren’t terribly welcoming. “What’s your name, place your card here, sign here, stairs are over there, breakfast at 6/coffee is 24 hours.” Nothing terrible, but also very stand-offish. The room was not great. The beds are in serious need of updating, as in you sleep on a noticeable angle because the mattress has worn down so much from where everyone else has slept. The ironing board was downright dirty: I used a towel I had packed to act as a buffer. The A/C worked but was loud. The bathroom was fine but the shower had lots of cracks in the ceiling. To top it all off, on my way out (I had to leave very early in the morning), I went to turn my keys in and the staff person was flat-out asleep at the desk. They looked very comfortable so I decided to just leave them alone, but c’mon…not a good look. So, yeah, it’s not horrible. However, it could be better. It’s in a good location (outside of IC but really close, yet also away from the craziness that is Coral Ridge Ave, but also very close to the interstate) and you have Old Chicago literally right there. The price is pretty good. It’s just a shame that so many things have been allowed to go bad.
I remember staying here 20some years ago when Coralville was much smaller and options were much fewer and this place was the best hotel in the area It still is a great hotel which has kept up with the times. I give this five stars as it’s hard to think of anything I would suggest. Beds were comfortable and up to Holiday inn standards. Nice amenities include a big TV, an office area, Keurig, a nice fridge and a safe among other things. Nice shower and bathroom. The pool was nice and large. Staff was super helpful. There are a lot of places to eat in the area- even in walking distance. The breakfast was typical Hotel but was hot and had a lot of choices. If you are not that familiar with the area, things are kind of spread out, but every thing is a short drive in Iowa City and Coralville I was also happily with the price which was less than worse hotels that I have stayed at in the area. My one complaint is I would love to have a little kids tv channel in the lineup (Nick Jr, PBS Kids, Freeform). Otherwise. Five stars
Good location, clean and tidy room with AC that worked really well! Breakfast included was ok, no eggs or sausage or bacon! Showers were great, bathroom clean and in very good condition. Excellent restaurant next door and grocery store 20 min walk down the road.
Totally sold out (no other rooms available) weekend (local football game) and room had no water to either the shower or toilet. The sink worked. When management was contacted, I was told to wait five days for the manager to get back to me. No call, so I called again. Told that ”missed manager by 10 minutes.” and then was told the toilet and shower worked just fine. Yeah, right. Carpet was gross feeling. Room refrigerator froze everything. Burn marks on furniture and carpet. Linens had unclean looking spots. Cost $200 for two nights. Rip off
