Location: you could not wish a better spot for being in midst of Cluj....vibrant and live. No car traffic in the area. Plenty of nice pubs and restaurants. If you have a car then better look for a parking at the Central Building.. Rooms: seem is a new owner in town...the rooms are well designed and the space is comfortable. It is a yes from all points of view. Staff: well trained. Helpful. Nice.

You can find cheaper options in the city, but if you need an equipped (almost everything, except the dishwasher) apartment, with a kitchenette, plus a nice balcony with a beautiful view, in a good area of ​​the city, it is strongly recommended to choose this apartment hotel. First of all, unlike many other aparthotels in Cluj, there's the reception working up to 10 PM which is very convenient if you need to ask something important for you, or need any other assistance (anyway, after you get an explanation of how easily enter and leave the apartment, and the building, by using a code, and if everything is good, no real necessity in interaction with the reception). Daily changing towels, taking out the trash, etc', location is great for this city (it looks not scary to walk around that neighborhood even late at night). The hotel is just a couple of minutes walk from a side entrance to Iulius Mall. In this big and modern mall there is also a big Aushan supermarket, a big selection of fast food chains, Starbucks and local caffe, etc' for almost every taste. You can also take a walk in the park around the lake and near the mall and the hotel. Taxis with affordable prices in Cluj, especially when you use apps and not catch on the street. Bolt is a bit cheaper than Uber. For example, the trip to airport from the hotel was ~ 30 romanian lei (about 6 euro).

After much deliberation on choosing our hotel in Cluj, we were not disappointed. We had found our hidden gem! The hotel was perfect. It was very clean Our room was well equipped and great bathroom with a wonderful power shower The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was possibly one of the best I have ever had in a hotel stay. A wonderful 6 nights spent doing a combination of business and leisure. Impeccable staff service including organising a hair dressing appointment at very short notice. Swimming pool and spa are excellent after long flights or long days working. A delight is the quality of food in the Marco Polo Restaurant. While Cluj has many restaurants within walking distance, we were so impressed by the flavours, textures and variety that we chose to eat in. A great convenience is that the restuarant is open for lunch and then across the afternoon into the evening so no hassle to eat whenever you need to. Breakfasts have a wide variety and there is something different each day which is a nice touch when staying for 6 days. Very comfortable bed with both softer and firmer pillows and lovely fluffy bath sheets. Front desk staff were helpful whether day or night shift and speaking English was no problem - there was always at least one person who was more than proficient. Location is excellent - 5 - 8 mins walk into the old city centre which gives an immediate sense of being in Cluj. A park with a lake nearby too. Many restaurants serving both traditional Romanian dishes and a wide variety to suit different palates and diets. We embarked on an ice cream tasting and found it not possible to try out all the many outlets. History abounds and many photo opportunities. We will be back and will be very glad to stay at DoubleTree again

I stayed at the Grand Hotel Napoca for 3 days as part of a larger delegation that arranged our accommodation there. Despite being an old hotel, it has been well renovated; the lobby, hall, restaurant, and bar all look new. The room was spacious, partially renovated, but comfortable and clean. The biggest issue was the level of service provided by the hotel staff. Upon entering the hotel, you are not greeted at reception, and the breakfast in the restaurant is very basic. Out of 4 waitstaff, only one young waitress made an effort to be attentive. The other old-school waiters do not speak English and communicate through gestures, which is quite uncomfortable. They do not but rather maintain the buffet and clean tables after guests finish. Nobody tries to bring you coffee or assist you when you ask for something. For example, when I requested hot water for my muesli, the waiter pointed to a thermos that had been sitting there for 2 hours, and the water was no longer hot. When I mentioned that to the waiter, he directed me to the coffee machine to wait in line and pour hot water myself. There is no option to have an omelet eggs made to order; breakfast choices are quite limited, with only bananas apples available. The coffee from the machine tastes terrible, so after breakfast, we decided to sit in the hotel lobby and order coffee from the bar. I received an Americano smaller than the cappuccino my husband was drinking and asked bartender to pour it into a larger cup with a bit more water because I prefer my Americano more diluted. He reacted aggressively, gave me a plastic takeaway cup to pour it myself, did not respond when I thanked him, and then started banging metal dishes loudly and expressing anger about my request. Then, a supervisor by speaking Romanian, and the supervisor kept saying calm down, calm down. Finally, a problem arose with the air conditioning, which stopped working on the last day before our departure. It even felt like the AC was heating the room to 30 degrees! We asked the housekeeper, who said another room had a malfunction, and since the ACs are connected, the entire horizontal line was not functioning. I would not stay at this hotel if it were not booked organized. The staff need serious training because, unfortunately, all the good and comfortable aspects (such as free and very convenient parking in front) are overshadowed by the subpar service of the employees who do not seem happy to serve guests.

Hands down one of the best hotel stays I have experienced. We stayed 3 weeks and initially I was concerned it would be too long, but I didn't want to leave. Rooms were spacious and clean. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Beautiful view from the balcony. Location was close to City Center, a few minutes with an Uber or Bolt. The breakfast was good and enough variety. The staff in the restaurant was attentive and professional. The staff at the pool and pool bar was great. The pool itself was big enough and even on busy days not overly crowded. Great for swimming laps when not busy (usually mornings). The front desk staff was helpful. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to going back next year

My favorite hotel to stay in while I am in Cluj-Napoca. I think the location is a bit far from the center, but the services and stay compensate for it. There aren't many restaurants close by, but the downstairs restaurant is good, and the service is impeccable. It's a bit more expensive than regular restaurants, but the food is very good. The hotel rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. The staff is professional, ready to help, and always smiling. I have stayed here 3-4 times already and will book again.
