Hotel berhampiran Ehrenburg Palace, Coburg

I stayed at this hotel numerous times when it was under the Romantik Hotel umbrella. It has since changed hands, and it shows. I should start with a positive. The staff is excellent. Unfortunately, the front desk is not staffed until 3:00. The rooms are beginning to look very shabby. The bathrooms are still great. There are sodas and water in the refrigerator to drink without cost. The breakfast was really mediocre. There was a large selection of dry cereal, but the cheese and cold cut selection was limited, pale, and unappetizing. The fruit was equally disappointing. The hot food was ordinary. Most annoying was that one has to get coffee from a machine. If there is a tour group, there are pots of coffee. Otherwise, one has to get coffee yourself from a machine, and fiddling with a machine is one thing that I do not want to do first thing in the morning. In order to attract a young ”hip” clientele, the new owners are being cute, and I *hate* cute. The do not disturb signs read ”Rabies area. Wild animals is room!” and ”Danger! I am sleeping” There is also a cutesy thing about the staff wearing red shoes. Not an issue for me, but because the hotel is several buildings combined, there are several short flights of stairs. To end with some more positives, the hotel is a short walk from the train station and there are several nice, local restaurants nearby.

I enjoyed the stay here as the room is very new and clean. The bed is very comfortable. My room was facing the train track, so when I opened the window, I could hear the occasional noise from the passing train. Otherwise, it was peaceful when the window was closed. The location of the hotel is good as it is less than 10 minutes walk to Marktplatz, which is the city center. The breakfast has a nice selection of eggs, cold cuts, cheese, bread, etc. They are freshly prepared and replenished regularly.

Wir haben wieder mal festgestellt, wie wichtig Service- und Kundenorientierung, Aufmerksamkeit und Freundlichkeit sind. Das haben wir alles sowohl am Empfang als auch im Frühstücksraum vom Personal vorgefunden. Wir hatten das Familienzimmer mit großem Bad und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Außerdem konnten wir unsere Räder unterstellen und anschließen, zwar in einer mehrstöckigen, offenen Garage, aber geschützt vor Regen. Am Abend haben wir noch eine Stadtbesichtigung gemacht und konnten über einen steilen Weg von der Veste zurück zum Hotel wandern. Wir sagen danke zum Service Team, denn sie haben unseren Aufenthalt rund gemacht.

Ordentliche 4 Sterne, nicht weit entfernt von der Innenstadt, gutes Frühstück! Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Ein Fitnessstudio befindet sich in der Nähe, Hotelgäste erhalten dort Rabatte. Eine Bushaltestelle mit vielen Busverbindungen Richtung Innenstadt befindet nicht weit weg vom Hotel.
