Our first visit to the restaurant at the Manor House. We felt very welcomed and the staff were all very friendly and professional something that many other places fall down on. All the food was delicious and well presented. Looks like we’ll have to go there again soon.

We have stayed here once before and were pleased to return. The hotel is well located at the end of Cockermouth, making it easy to walk to anywhere in town and there is adequate free car parking and wifi. Whilst the building is dated, it is well maintained and decorated and our room was clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast is excellent and the restaurant is underrated - see separate review.

We were staying in Cockermouth, every where seemed to be booked. We were walking and found this hotel. Looked old fashioned and menu was not exciting but then saw the cocktail menu (extensive) and then tasted the cocktail, wow they know how to mix them. Then the food arrived and again wow good basic food, excellent cooked veg and good size portions. Superb bread warm and the cheese and biscuits were superb. If you are in the area, do not go to these standard linked corporate places - visit The Manor House Hotel where you will receive a warm welcome and good standard fare. Place is clean and toilets are immaculate, something which is not standard now a days in the majority of establishments.

Really good experience here. The room was small but we knew that when we booked it. The breakfast was possibly one of the best we have had, the quality of the ingredients shone through. Evening meal was so well made and reasonably priced. The staff and owners were all very friendly and helpful. Definitely come back.

Great location car parking a bonus and breakfast was plentiful. Room was spacious although the beds were a bit small . Would stay here again if in the area .Staff were friendly too. Around 300m to the centre of the town. Very quiet hotel never heard any noise in our two day stay

Four of us stayed at the Manor House on a 3 day / 2 night golf break and stayed in the two twin rooms. Hotel is in a prime position just at the end of the main street and there is ample on site parking. Hotel was ideal, nice big room cleaned daily, great breakfast (choice of cereals, yogurts, fruit, juices etc) plus a beautifully cooked hot meal. Nice bar area. Evening meals looked good but we didn’t eat there as we had other plans. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We are already looking to book for next year

Great location, right in the centre of Cockermouth and easy, free parking. Had a friendly welcome at check-in. We stayed for 2 nights and had dinner in the restaurant twice. The food, though quite expensive, was superb. Really top-notch and the service was good. Breakfast also very good. The negatives were the room and the en-suite. Both quite dated and the bed was a double rather than a king size. The shower was an old fixed-head type above the bath, and you had to use the bath taps to control the water flow and the temperature, which made it difficult to get right between being too hot and freezing cold! Had the room been refurbished and more modern this place would have been truly excellent all round.

Evening meal on a Tuesday and all tables were taken. Set menu however what a good choice of starters and mains. Food and service was excellent. Not rushed and time between each course to digest. Braised beef and medallions of lamb cooked to perfection and selection of vegetables plus 2 potato dishes. Good value for money proper Cumbrian portions. Smiling and chatty staff - a credit to the Manor Team. Booking essential.

Positives first: Breakfast is amazing. Staff friendly. Location good and easy public transport to Keswick. Decent car park. Negatives: Dated - needs a refresh. Noisy - doors (room 1) banging late in night. No heating - had to ask for heating to go on as it was cold, response - you think so. Eventually got a heater brought to room to plug in. No slip mat in shower. Mould or dirt on window. Blind on one window not on the other so room wasn't particularly conducive to a decent sleep. Expensive at £115 per evening for what it provided. As long as you accept its faults, it's OK. Just.
