Hotel di , Cordoba

We arrived at the garage of this hotel too frightened to attempt entering with our huge car (only have a small one at home). After parking in the centre of town we checked in, upgraded to a better room for only a small increase and were delighted that Pedro offered to collect our car and park it for us even though it was a kilometre from the hotel. Our bedroom was clean, spacious and comfortable for our two day stay in Cordoba, the bathroom was large with a great shower and lots of space in there. Breakfasts were excellent with a wide range of food on offer all delivered to your table. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you. A very special mention of Pedro, what an ambassador of Spanish hotels, his English was excellent, he was obliging and even reversed our car out of the car park for us. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tremendous hotel and their staff. I’d love to return one day to this amazing city.

Stayed at the Tivoli in Lisbon which was a 5* and fulfilled expectations even though the hotel itself felt dated in the décor, the room, however, was spacious and well-appointed, and the dining room sumptuous with personable service. Arrived at the Palacio del Bailio, a 5* in Córdoba, expecting similar excellence, and was grossly disappointed. The reception personnel was efficient, but rather soulless. Some of the dining room staff did not feel like they should be working in a 5* hotel. They banged plates and dropped cutlery in a rather careless manner, chat loudly to each other, and projected an unsophisticated service style. The spa was marketed a lot more interesting than it actually was. The spa staff was strangely confused about our bookings and took a while to sort timing and treatments out, and the roman bath experience that looked so intriguing on their website turned out to be just 3 pools of differing temperatures and very little else in terms of amenities. Our room, basic level that it is, was fine except the goofy bathroom. It had two showers, one standalone and one attached to the bathtub. Problem is, the standalone shower took up half of the real estate on the toilet side, which means you have to be very thin and very small to get into the toilet stall. We are small folks, and still I banged my knees against the glass partition when I sit down and cracked my forehead when I stand up. Never had I to sit on the toilet on an angle with my legs half out of the stall door, just so I don’t bruise assorted body parts. A new experience never to be repeated. The sinks were also stylish-looking, but extremely impractical. Very little space to put anything, and no way to plug the drain so I don’t accidentally flush my contacts away. The hot water was iffy at times and took a long while to get warm let alone hot. A lot of water wasted just waiting for the hot water to come out. Overall an okay to frustrating stay, certainly not what 5* should be.

Twee volwassenen 45+ voor 2 nachten cordoba. Prima loopafstand vanaf station en naar de bezienswaardigheden. Alles op loopafstand (wij zijn gewend om +10km per dag te lopen). Kamer en badkamer prima. We sliepen naast de lift, dat was ietsje minder, maar niet erg. De muren zijn erg dun dus gehorig bij douchen van buren. Bedden prima, lekker geslapen. Douche prima met douchegel etc. Wat fijn was: koffers konden we gratis achterlaten en nog een dagje cordoba in gaan. Wat misten we: een waterkoker voor bijv kopje thee of een koffie.

We visited this hotel in October, 2022. It is located in the old city which is very nice to walk through but very difficult to navigate in a car. We passed the hotel twice, once missing the sign and a second time with traffic behind us and no place to stop, so we had to continue on. Each miss required a - -＞ very ＜ - - lengthy, very annoying loop to return. Eventually we found a place to park temporarily and we called the hotel. By this time their lot was full, but they had space in an overflow lot. I do not give out five stars without cause. The desk clerk was just getting off her shift. She came out to meet us at an intersection to which she guided us by phone. She joined us in the car, directed us to the overflow parking in a completely obscure cut-de-sac, then guided us on foot back to the hotel. When it transpired that we had two twin beds instead of a queen, she re-arranged things and found us what we wanted. This is not a fancy hotel, but the staff are excellent and the price is very good. It's a walk from the Mezquite but for us the walk was always a pleasure through the old town. 5 stars for service above and beyond.

The staff was very accommodating. We are a family of four adults and two kids and they helped us place our rooms next to each other as it is only two per room allowed. We were lucky to have a room with a private terrace. Also the staff from reception to the bar were very friendly and helpful! When in Cordoba I will be staying here again!
