Corse Lawn has been in the same family for decades. Now, it appears, the remaining owner is too old to run it, and her children don't seem interested, so it's up for sale. Which is a pity. The rooms are large and well-appointed, the staff friendly and helpful and the situation pleasant. The nearby road isn't busy, there's ample car parking and there's also a swimming pool - though to call it 'heated' seemed a little far-fetched. The one time my wife went to try it, the water was freezing, even though it was stiflingly hot in the 'polytunnel' in which it's situated. We found the breakfasts to be very good, and the restaurant food in the evening to be excellent. We ate at the hotel one night and at the nearby (highly rated) Blacksmith's Arms the other night, and I felt that, overall, the food at the Corse Lawn restaurant was better, the menu wider and the prices more reasonable. The rooms are clean, but the place is in need of some renovation, especially the window frames which could do with a spring clean, coat of paint or replacement. I hope that whoever eventually buys the hotel will carry out the necessary renovations without spoiling the charm and character of the place, and that the current staff will be retained. It deserves to thrive.
