My mother had a recent stay booked, and was so excited to see northern Italy, as she usually visits the south where her family was from. Five days prior to her departure for her trip, she was run over by a vehicle and dragged in a horrible accident. She broke her back, shoulder, ribs and nose, and was hospitalized 5 days. We were willing to provide any and all proof of accident requested. While I understand that a business must have a cancellation policy, and this policy says 14 days, she was hoping to rebook for May, to allow recovery- as she is unable to care for herself or even walk without assistance at this time. Instead, she was offered “until the end of business day” to book again by November 2. This is no where near ample time for recovery. In the end, she was charged as a “no show” (>$1000 USD). Needless to say, we won’t be booking at this Hotel in the Spring. Nor will we be recommending to other fellow travelers, friends, or family.
