Regency Torviscas Apartments and Suites

Excellent apartments and amenities. The reception team both on arrival and departure were very very friendly and informative. Only slight downside for us was it was a little too far from the beach and amenities which made it very quiet however this would suit a lot of people. There was an excellent Spanish themed restaurant around the corner from the resort literally 2 minutes which served excellent food and had excellent background music.

Travelled with our 14m old for a family holiday. Pros -20 min from airport -Great location - 10 min walk (down/up hill) to/from beach, shops, restaurants. -Good supermarket next door, pharmacy etc. -Everything brilliantly clean -Food at buffet always very hot -Staff are friendly, welcoming and great with kids -Bed is comfy -drinks are strong! -multiple pools, can always find a sunbed -great facilities for kids/toddlers - soft play, ball pit, 2x playgrounds, splash pool with slides Cons -Rooms are incredibly tired and dated. Functional yes, but they really need remodelling. Eg The bath tub has been painted (badly) and feels very unclean. -only 4 plug sockets in the whole apartment. That only work when the lights are on? Had to unscrew some lightbulbs to be able to charge things overnight. -wouldn’t bother with all inclusive. It’s handy with a toddler, but food is not varied and tastes average. Would recommend B&B especially with kitchenette in room and supermarket / restaurants near by, it’s much nicer to go out and very reasonably priced -as all inclusive you get smaller glasses for drinks and only soft drinks from a tap vs glass bottle Coke etc. surely we’ve still paid for it all? -no air con in any communal areas, eg kids club, restaurant (gets very hot in there, no option to eat outside only at breakfast) -lifeguards, pointless - they just sit on their phone all day and never actually watch the pool Overall, nice hotel and good facilities. Rooms massively let it down. Don’t think they represent a 4 star hotel.

JOIA El Mirador by Iberostar -Adults Only

Booked through British Airways (BA) Holidays and stayed in a fabulous junior suite with sea view (#1308) from 21 - 27 September. We usually stay at the Bahia del Duque next door and in fact, I visited this hotel many moons ago when Mirador and Bahia were still one resort under the Melia brand. We were excited to try something new based on the consistent five star reviews of El Mirador. Safe to say, the countless accolades are more than deserved. The tone is immediately set upon arrival. The main entrance and lobby exude a sense of tranquility, and the check-in process was incredibly smooth, accompanied by a glass of champagne. One of my key bug bears are hotels that just check you in, slap the roomkey in front of you, and send you on your way to find the room without any explanation of the hotel's facilities and/or important timings to keep in mind (breakfast, spa opening hours, check-out, etc). Happy to report that El Mirador went above and beyond here. In the blink of an eye, the wonderful Isabella appeared who walked us through the hotel grounds and gave us a mini tour of the premises. Subsequently, Isabella passed the baton to the most energetic bellboy who accompanied us up to the room with our luggage. First impressions matter, and the Mirador absolutely nailed it. Room - utter perfection, zero feedback or comments. Hugely comfortable bed, wonderfully spacious bathroom and walk-in closet. A request for more hangers and coffee cups was met in warp speed time. Breakfast: ah-ma-zing. Yiorgi swooping in with glasses of champagne from the moment we sat down, the friendly Amilkar preparing the most scrumptious eggs, and the mother of all breakfast spreads laid out inside. Staff here are absolutely top notch. Breakfast, on many occasions, was the highlight meal of the day and really something to look forward to. Pool - the grounds are immaculately kept, service around the clock and they swing by with freebies during the day (freshly prepared cocktails, Aperol Spritzes, ice cream, etc). We appreciated the little digital buzzers by the loungers to call for food / drink - without fail, someone showed up promptly after a few minutes to take our order. We tended to venture out to the beach for lunch, so can't comment on the food offering at Las Pardelas. On occasion we rocked up late to the pool (early afternoon) and there were always loungers available. Dinner - we tried the buffet once. El Mirador restaurant looks magical at night, tables set up beautifully (mood lighting, fresh flowers) but we found the buffet overpriced in terms of value for money (60 euro / p.p., excluding drinks). I was really pleasantly surprised with La Pergola Restaurant however, probably my favourite dinner at the hotel - class all the way and excellent food (try the sea bass!) Cenador was also lovely and the head waiter (sorry, forgot your name!) has a knack for builing rapport with customers. The bar is a great place to have an aperitif before dinner, or a nightca
Hotel Riu Palace Tenerife

Lovely hotel & super clean and well maintained by RIU personnel & management. Situated right on the beach front so perfect location RIU staff all very friendly and happy. Food was was pretty good to be fair. Entertainment during the evening on the main stage was about 5 out of 10. ( It's the first time Ive stayed in a five star hotel an been asked 26 Euro's for the room safe for 7 days, that should be for in my eyes).

This hotel was a complete disappointment to us. Having been to Tenerife numerous times and stayed in a large amount of 5* hotels there, we were hoping this one would be the cherry on the cake. How wrong we were. For what we paid, it was certainly a case of”fur coat and no knickers”: Cons: upon arrival 9pm-the checkin was ridiculously slow, despite the fact there was only 1 other couple there. Information was lacking and a map given to us was most un helpful. The walk to the room was like a marathon and was something that eventually started to wear on us throughout the week. The walk to get to a pool proved arduous.yes you can get a buggy, but that can take up to 15 mins to arrive. The room was very dated. Furniture basic. The beds kept separating from the wall, which meant you could wake up with your pillows in a gap between the headboard and the mattress. No USB by the bed and only 1 plug socket, which had a lamp plugged into it so you have to pull the side table out to access the plug every day after the maids had been. There is no where to hang swimming costumes on the balcony so we ended up putting them over chairs. The breakfast area is painful. The egg station is painfully slow and the chef certainly doesn’t understand the concept of multi tasking. By the time you get your eggs, your toast is cold as it’s at the other end of the room. We waited over 25 minutes for someone to bring tea/coffee before I had to ask for some. I certainly don’t expect to get up and put towels down in a 5* resort, but unfortunately if you don’t do that -you didn’t get a bed. We also felt that the pools were very cold and not especially clean, but that could be the rocks that they are formed around causing this. Pros: the staff in general were very helpful and generally happy. Although the hotel is in URGENT need of a refurb, the cleaners do an amazing job and the ladies who cleaned our room were the best. I e stayed at places for half the price that were so much better so we were left feeling very disappointed.
