I am really glad I found hotel Stadarborg. I was doing a long drive from the Dettifos waterfall to the Jakulsarion lagoon and glacier, and I really need someone conveniently situated, so I didn't end up driving in darkness. This hotel was about 4 or 5 hours from my stop in the North of Iceland, and about 3 hours from the lagoon. The hotel has a range of regular rooms and two alpine style cabins in the rear for more budget conscious travelers. The hotel owner and her son made me feel very welcome, and even cooked me a special meal due to my arrival. The breakfast the next day was also outstanding

We were about halfway through our trip with Nordic Visitor around the ring road and had to double-up a travel day because the road was literally being closed behind us due to a huge storm approaching. We arrived at 11PM, about an hour after we were supposed to arrive. Nevertheless, we were greeted with an incredible hot meal and cocktails followed by ice cream. The staff patiently waited for us to arrive and quickly got to work. And they were there for breakfast at 7:30 too. Simply amazing. The room was nice warm and cozy, and there was a sitting room right around the corner. It is a great choice for a stay during your adventures in Iceland.

We loved this hotel. We were lucky enough to get an upper-floor room looking out over the fjord, and the views were wonderful. So was the wildlife - we enjoyed watching ducks, fulmars, terns, waders and even a seal. The room was spacious, well organised and very comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner at the Abri restaurant both days, and found the food excellent; the cod was so good, we had it both times. The waiters at the restaurant were really friendly and helpful. We were sorry to leave at the end of our stay!

This restaurant and its family staff was incredible and, to show that, we ended up coming here 4 separate times over a day-and-a-half period to do everything from enjoy some evening drinks, have a few meals, play mini-golf, free of charge, on their course right outside, to having my son play his first game of pool and sink his first-ever shot to the way they turned on their huge television and allowed him to watch himself on a YouTube video he just made, to playing darts (that were cleaned for us) on their multiple dartboards. The food - Icelandic Soup, amazing burgers - filled our stomachs and the hosts genuinely wanted to speak to us wherever we were in the restaurant, and they answered so many of our questions re: our first 2 weeks traveling through the country. They were Lonely Planet's with smiles and great personalities. I would give this restaurant the highest rating I have ever given a restaurant. The food is wonderful. The family is absolutely lovely. Thumbs up with all of the thumbs I can find:)

I'd absolutely go back there. No reals Cons in my opinion but we didn't actually use the showers. However the bathrooms were clean from what I could see. The kitchen was clean and well appointed with the necessary items. Rooms were clean and a bit spacious actually which was awesome for 4 of us. However two of our number stated the pillows and comforter stunk of febreeze. Two of us noticed nothing although we were assured that our bedding also stunk hahaha. Check in was brief and didn't instruction us on how to check out and after about 7pm there was no one present until the day after we left according to the sign on the door.

Freundlicher und hilfsbereiter (Tischreservation in einem anderen Restaurant) Empfang. Zimmer sind OK, für eine Nacht war alles vorhanden was benötigt wurde, Platzverhältnisse für Alleinreisende ausreichend, zu Zweit wird es etwas eng. Frühstücksangebot entsprach dem normalen, nichts ausergwöhnliches, alles von guter Qualität. Parkplätze genügend vorhanden (vor- und hinter dem Haus).

This hotel is very charming, clean, and has a lot of history. Situated on a lovely lake, the grounds are gorgeous plus they offer some spa services and a full restaurant. We stayed here during our ring road tour and wish we had more time to enjoy the town and this wonderful hotel. Hopefully next time! The complimentary breakfast was also very good with a large variety for every palate.

PPengguna TetamuNous avons beaucoup aimer cette hotel qui est situé dans un cadre calme et très agréable. La décoration intérieur est chaleureuse et cosy et faite avec goût. Nous avons été bien accueilli. La literie était très agréable. La chambre propre. Le petit déjeuner était très bon et nous avons également très bien manger le soir au restaurant en ayant vu sur le petit port.

PPengguna TetamuSo we had a bit of an adventure checking in. The white board of who was staying where and when was out of date. Both check in locations were closed (late afternoon). The house was quiet and the restaurant not yet open for the season.. Turns out it is really very easy. Just look up the name of your cottage in your reservation and walk in the door! Keys were inside. Yes a very trusting place. We had a good laugh at ourselves. The cottages are small but have everything you need. We sat on the porch and looked at reindeer and at least 12 waterfalls. Hard to beat. I would suggest that instructions on how to use the 2 burner stove (hotplate) would be helpful. If we had not used one before we would have had trouble as it is not straight forward. It is a good place to bring your food and relax and enjoy. Would stay here again.

Para comenzar esto no es un hotel, aquí tienes una habitación y compartes cocina, baño y ducha. Una vez aclarado esto, el check-in debes hacerlo en el Hotel que está en el puerto y luego has de subir unos metros a un edificio que son los apartamentos. Yo tenía una habitación triple con una cama doble y una sencilla. La habitación tiene una burra para colgar la ropa y un lavamanos. En la habitación todo bien, por la noche me di cuenta que faltaba una bombilla de una de las lamparitas de la mesita de noche, pero son cosas que a veces pasan. El baño y el aseo impecable y con toques decorativos agradables. La zona de cocina no es muy grande, por lo que no se puede coincidir con muchos huéspedes al mismo tiempo. Vi café pero no cafetera. Comentar que en mi habitación el WIFI no llegaba, había salir al pasillo. Tiene fácil aparcamiento. Tiene calefacción.
