Returned to InterContinental for another business trip. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was upgraded from a 'sea view' (which I assume is a typo and means a lower category room) to a city view, which was spacious with a great panoramic view – Dongguan's nightscape is quite impressive. It's also conveniently located right next to Guomao Mall. Hotel concierge Mia provided efficient and thoughtful service; it really made the experience excellent. Thumbs up!

I specifically chose to check into the InterContinental Dongguan the day before my birthday, and the experience truly exceeded my expectations! As soon as I arrived at the lobby to check in, the staff offered warm birthday wishes and even upgraded my room for free. The check-in process was efficient and thoughtful. The guest room was spacious and airy, the bedding was soft and skin-friendly, and the wet/dry separation in the bathroom was a thoughtful touch. The toiletries were also of high quality. The breakfast buffet the next day offered a wide variety of dishes, blending both Chinese and Western options, and even featured local Dongguan specialties – the taste was absolutely superb. This birthday stay was a perfect 10/10 experience. I've already recommended the hotel to my friends, and I'll definitely choose to stay here again the next time I visit Dongguan!

Only people with really low standards would choose to stay here, and only those unaware of their rights would pick this place. When issues arise, their 'solution' is to offer small gifts, like a bottle of the hotel's shower gel (which only those looking for freebies would even bother to take). From the front-line staff to the team leaders and managers, the service attitude is awful; everyone walks around with a stern, rigid expression. They only plaster on a fawning smile when they notice people staring. I had to chase down five different service staff because my food never arrived. When I finally went to check, the server actually claimed she was just placing the order. Here are 10 reasons for my terrible review: 1. There was a mushroom in the sugar packet! The server clearly wasn't paying attention. 2. The table corners are sharp and bulky. The chipped paint suggests many people have bumped into them. The furniture is too large for the small room. 3. The door blocks the hallway; definitely not suitable for families with small children. 4. No laundry basket. Clothes end up like trash on the floor. The sink area is cluttered, and I couldn't put anything in the bathtub because it had water in it. 5. The sofa legs are sharp and angular. 6. The tissue box was a soft pack, and I stubbed my toe on it. 7. There's a mysteriously sharp, angular protrusion by the headboard with no outlet. It seems like a design flaw that was covered up, but it's dangerously close to your head. 8. The safety lock on the door was broken, which felt very unsafe and terrifying. 9. I was on the 12th floor with a 'deluxe room' (not a special offer), and the view was absolutely terrible – just like all the other views. 10. There are no individual toiletries, just large bottles. I couldn't bring myself to use them, wondering if the previous guest might have added something to them. I don't even want to give a combined score. The InterContinental in Dongguan is very exclusive, overly fawning towards foreigners, and has a terrible service mindset. Oh, and by the way, there's no luggage assistance. The doorman just stands there, probably only helping foreigners. Also, when I asked a server to call the manager, she replied, 'I don't know who our manager is.' Word of advice: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! STAY AWAY!!!!!

Guest relations manager Maggie provided exceptional service. Check-in was quick and seamless, and she was very patient. She answered all our questions promptly and was incredibly thoughtful. The room was clean, tidy, and very comfortable, with all the necessary amenities. The parking discount for guests was also very convenient. The entire experience was smooth, and I really appreciate Maggie's attentive service. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Dongguan!

My stay was really comfortable. Reception, the gym, the lounge on floor 2 and the lobby bar, all excellent. Jasmine at 14:00 pm. at the front desk was extremely helpful. The room was also really nice, I would say above the average 5 star. The picture of the tower is from the room.

Room & Amenities The room was beautifully appointed and thoughtfully laid out, offering both comfort and functionality. A standout feature was the separate toilet and bath, which added a touch of sophistication and convenience. The modern furnishings, high-quality bedding, and spacious layout made for a truly relaxing stay. Location The hotel is situated in one of Dongguan’s most vibrant districts, surrounded by bustling energy and endless entertainment options. Adjacent to the property is a massive shopping mall, providing guests with easy access to retail, dining, and leisure activities. Executive Lounge Experience Though located on a lower floor, the Executive Lounge is a true gem. The selection of delicacies was exceptional, with a variety of gourmet bites and premium beverages. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the warm and attentive service—special thanks to Steven and Freya, who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality made every visit to the lounge delightful. Overall Impression Without a doubt, the InterContinental Dongguan stands as the best hotel in the city. Its combination of modern luxury, prime location, and outstanding service—especially from staff like Steven and Freya—makes it a top recommendation for both business and leisure travelers. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

If there's an option for 2 PM late checkout for a specific membership tier, please strictly ask guests at check-in if they need it. The hotel should trust that guests will check out on time by 2 PM, instead of starting to rush them at 1:30 PM, and then again at 1:50 PM with an urgent and jarring phone call to the room. Also, it seems our breakfast offerings have been scaled back considerably...

A fantastic stay experience! In particular, the manager Nature, was extremely professional. She helped me solve the problem of my stay, the catering team provided us with very warm service during the typhoon. Room is big enough for my work .Thank you guys .

Nice service. Every staff is welcoming and helpful.  The room is stylish where toilet is separated from bathroom.  Add $100 for extra breakfast at the desk, which is reasonably and fair to the quality. A bit far from the nearly subway but doesn’t matter if taking taxi

Recently on a business travel and the hotel located at a great location with everything within the area. Staffs service are excellent and hotel at its best. Will definitely book again for the next trip back.

An international brand hotel with no expertise on communication with language barriers. The staff in the lounge cafe does not speak a word of English. A frustrating ordeal to deal with reception desk unprofessional attitude Messed up by booking advising on the last day the booking did not include the hotel. Had further booking during that week and decided to cancel. I don't see any difference between an international brand hotel and a Chinese brand hotel with this treatment. Have cancelled the future booking. Just terrible experience.

Good services. Room is large and clean. Food is above average. We enjoy the stay and for sure will come back.
