Woodlands is a mixed bag and you get what you pay for. Be aware there is a huge difference between the standard and superior rooms.
The location is great, walking distance to the muesum and town and despite being on one of the main roads the setting is reasonably quite. Staff were friendly and helpful and the small kids play area was a bonus.
We stayed 4 nights in a standard two bedroom unit. It was completely liveable and had everything we needed, however as others have said was musty, dated and in need of renovation. On the third night our door lock jammed, we got the manager and the door-nob literally fell off in his hand! After a bit of work the nob was back on and the door opened and we were then shifted to a superior one bed unit for our last night. The manager was very apologetic and said maintenance would be in on Monday to replace the lock so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
The difference in units was night and day. The superior unit had been fully renovated and was amazing, no issues at all. If we'd been in this unit the whole time it would be hard to understand some of the feedback this place has. We could see another unit being renovated, which is great. I guess it all takes time and money.
Would we stay there again? Yes, 100%, am I going to be expecting the Hilton, No.
