Very much enjoyed our stay at this quirky but fun and charming hotel. The little red fridge was a really fun touch. The hotel was a bit confusing to negotiate but the staff was very helpful getting us to the right place. The location was great. We were able to walk to areas of interest.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a fantastic experience. The hotel was just as described and lived up to my expectations. The location was perfect for exploring the city, with many attractions and restaurants within walking distance. What really made my stay stand out was the staff - they were super friendly, helpful and always responded quickly to any inquiries I had. Additionally, the hotel's app made everything incredibly easy, from asking questions to checking out. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere that made me feel right at home. I highly recommend Cheval Old Town to anyone visiting Edinburgh and I look forward to staying here again in the future.”

Our assessment of our 3 night stay at the Waldorf was mixed. The hotel was very nice and as a Diamond member we were upgraded to a castle view room. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the front desk staff were generally helpful. We did have a problem one night with the light fixture leaking water from the ceiling. This may have been due to a rainstorm one night and staff brought a bucket to catch the leaking water. The biggest problem, however, occurred after checkout. At the time of checkout I was told that the hotel printer wasn’t working so they would email me my receipt. Since all 3 nights were paid for with HH points I asked if there was a zero balance and was told yes. Later that day I received the final bill and was charged over $1,000 on my credit card for all three nights. I immediately called the hotel and was told by in house reservations staff that my reservation had been cancelled when I didn’t show up. I reminded them that we had been staying with them the last 3 nights and had no problem at checkin on the scheduled day. In fact I confirmed our arrival time several hours before checkin. So they didn’t know what the problem was but would talk to the reservations manager when they were free. In the meantime I called the Hilton diamond desk and again was told that someone had cancelled my stay with points and it had been rebooked by someone as a cash stay and they were not sure what the problem was. My points had even been put back onto my account by someone. By now I am a bit irritated. I finally receive a call back from the hotel reservation manager who tells me that the Waldorf had a computer glitch on our arrival date and that all hotel reservations had been cancelled and had to be manually reentered by hotel staff. However, Hilton hotels have no way to make reservations using points so they made them as a cash payment. Thereby the $1,000 bill. Now glitches are bound to occur sometimes. However, all of this angst could have been avoided by telling me at checkin about the problem and I could have immediately rebooked the room using points while standing at the front desk. The hotel did ultimately reverse the charges and apologize. However. this shouldn’t happen at a property like the Waldorf.

Great location for Hogmanay on Princes’ street. Nice engaging staff. Location of car park is a little far out which would be quite irritating if I had just come off a long haul flight late in the evening. Clean room, buffet breakfast with a large range of local style breakfast

Great welcome. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Within walking distance of most major attractions. We used the bar in the evening and had breakfast, which was great - plenty of choice and all you can eat. Only one issue, the bottle bank was emptied at about 5.30 in the morning.

One night midweek stay. Room was spacious with a castle view. Great location. Facilities in the room were clean. Comfortable bed. The temperature of the room could be controlled. Receptionists were very helpful both at check in and check out. Printed a document I needed for flying. Sorry I did not get the names of the 2 receptionists who helped me. Friendly and chatty, very kind. Thank you. I didn’t read the blurb about the hotel but don’t struggle up the stairs, there is a ramp at the side of the hotel by the car park giving easy access into the hotel.

We love the fact that it has a small kitchen in the apartment so we can do some cooking in the morning in case we don't feel like eating out. The staff are very welcoming and kind 😀 the location is definitely great as there are many eateries within walking distance

Kakitangan yang sangat ramah! Kakitangan depan yang menyambut kami pada hari kami mendaftar masuk sangat ramah dan membantu, seperti kakitangan lain yang menolong kami pada waktu petang untuk menukar ke bilik lain (bilik asal mempunyai pintu penghubung ke bilik sebelah tempat beberapa orang berada mengadakan pesta yang agak meriah). Pada masa ini, sarapan dibawa ke bilik (lihat gambar) dan tetamu boleh memilih apa yang mereka ingin makan sehari sebelumnya. Apa yang kami tidak terlalu menikmati semasa menginap ialah hotel itu sendiri berasa lebih seperti bangunan pejabat dan biliknya, walaupun bersih (selain daripada kutleri di dapur), tidak begitu selesa dan agak sejuk. Kami juga ingin mencadangkan agar tetamu menggunakan tangga api kerana hanya ada satu lif. Kami terpaksa menunggu agak lama setiap kali kami perlu menaiki lif (terutama pada masa covid apabila hanya satu isi rumah pada satu masa boleh menggunakannya). Terdapat tapak pembinaan yang agak besar di sebelahnya sehingga orang yang berharap dapat tidur hingga larut malam mungkin ingin meminta bilik yang menghadap ke seberang.

The positive of course is that all the major tourist attractions are right out the front door, especially the Royal Mile. The negative is that all the tourists are either sitting at the outside tables drinking day and night, or milling around the square outside your hotel window. And the windows are not sound proof. And the cheap shades do not keep the light out. And our tiny room, which was very expensive by the way, had only one chair in it. The other positive of this hotel is that the guys at the front desk are super-friendly, and very helpful with whatever you need for your stay and tours. Also, the layout is kind of punk-chic with funny maze-like directions to get to your room. I cant believe Rick Steve’s Travel Book recommended this place.If you’re in your ‘20’s and stay up late, it’s ideal. For the rest of us, bring earplugs and night-mask. If you want a quieter area that’s still walkable stay in Stockbridge or West End instead.
