No1 Apartments Edinburgh - George IV Bridge

Edinburgh Old Town Edinburgh|0.37km dari The University of Edinburgh
My husband and I stayed at No. 1 Apartments George IV Bridge in Edinburgh for just under one week (on vacation from Canada). We can't say enough good things!! (And I'm VERY particular!!) We initially stayed in a one-bedroom suite (no. 4) and then upgraded to a two bedroom suite (no. 8). Both had views of the castle. Although situated in an older, heritage building, the apartments have a modern aesthetic. This is a walk-up without an elevator or a/c, so that may be an issue for some. We stayed on the very top floor and didn't find the stairs to be an issue. The location is absolutely perfect. It's only a 3 minute walk to the Royal Mile, and maybe 5 more mins to Edinburgh Castle. Holyrood Castle is at the opposite end of the Royal Mile, about a 20 minute walk, at most. Victoria Street (aka Diagon Alley) is literally around the corner, just 2 mins away. Grassmarket is at the end of that short street, about a 4 min walk. Greyfriars Bobby is at the end of the block, so less than a minute's walk away. All to say, it's a great location. While there are no hotel staff members onsite, they're extremely responsive and will come to your suite within minutes, if there's an issue. Peter and Jan (the contacts for our suites) were extremely helpful and always available by phone or in-person. The suites are clean and well-designed. Both the one- and two-bedroom suites have a combined washer/dryer, and a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. The two-bedroom is very large and spacious, but only has one bathroom. We loved it. We would return to No. 1 Apartments in a heartbeat. Thanks for an awesome stay!! We hope to return one day!!

Love the brand of shampoo and shower gel, the hotel is overall good with view of the castle, just that we were accidentally charged twice, but the staff are nice

First time for everything! Excellent location I’m centre and nice vibe to place! Needed a place to freshen up and sleep for few hours, hostels not my thing but surprised how many ( international baby boomers / young professionals staying. Key code access - when it works very good way of keeping Edinburghs undesirables out! And they’ve plenty.. Pod beds okay, game of chance if you have inconsiderate guests or early departures in dorm rooms! Tricky to get dressed in privacy 😳 Best thing! Really really clean and plenty of shower cubicles. Well done staff who keep it clean! Didn’t like to pay for a towel - just really mean 😪 Staff helpful but not really interested guests needs! They typify hospitality problem 🤷🏼♂️ Would I stay again, yep, but not romantically for me ! My youngest students son was impressed!

This weekend we spent a couple of days in Edinburgh and used this location courtesy of our daughter and her partner. The location is ideal for moving around Edinburgh and enjoying the various sites etc. The room was in good order, however the cleaners had not checked the pull down bed which was disgusting however, this was quickly rectified and we got offered a free breakfast as compensation. Point to note, don't think the room you have booked has the ideal views as shown on the web-site as we were on the third floor looking on to an internal roof! Breakfast was ok, staff were attentive and although they got our order completely wrong it was again quickly rectified. Worth a stay, however can be pricey for what it is!

The positive of course is that all the major tourist attractions are right out the front door, especially the Royal Mile. The negative is that all the tourists are either sitting at the outside tables drinking day and night, or milling around the square outside your hotel window. And the windows are not sound proof. And the cheap shades do not keep the light out. And our tiny room, which was very expensive by the way, had only one chair in it. The other positive of this hotel is that the guys at the front desk are super-friendly, and very helpful with whatever you need for your stay and tours. Also, the layout is kind of punk-chic with funny maze-like directions to get to your room. I cant believe Rick Steve’s Travel Book recommended this place. If you’re in your ‘20’s and stay up late, it’s ideal. For the rest of us, bring earplugs and night-mask. If you want a quieter area that’s still walkable stay in Stockbridge or West End instead.
