I am seeing a lot of negative reviews and that compelled me to share my experience. My paperwork reads the Xelena as a 4 star hotel. We booked a lakeview room and when we checked in, it was at the ground level. A jogging/bike path was in front and a patch of lawn with access to the spa was in front of the picture window. I didn't like it and asked to be moved. I also wonder if the heater was broken as the room was hot and the window would not stay open. We got moved to a room on the 4th floor, same level as the reception. We still have a view of the lake, just with some tree branches in front. I like our bathroom. I like the stone and everything about it. I like there are a few places to hang our towels. I like the big closet. The furniture is sp**** but comfortable for us. The pillows are great. There are two double beds but maintenence converted them to a King like on a cruises cruiseship. Unlike other Argentinian hotels where a bellhop walks us to our room and shows us how to use the tech, Xelena didn't have that and we needed help with the heater. Our 2nd room had a newer AC/heater and it was easier to use. No problem with the auto blinds. Overall, a nice experience. I enjoyed our included breakfast. I like our coffee in the room as I enjoy the view and the quiet before going to the buffet. We also appreciate the complimentary shuttle to town.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Nice room with balcony. The staff was extremely accommodating. I am a psychotherapist and needed a private space at one point during my stay to have a session with a client who was in crisis. They were able to provide me that space and were quite sympathetic. It was easily walkable to town each day, and we had no problem arranging a tour to take us to the glacier. For an extra charge, the hotel was able to provide us a very nice lunch for the time that we were at the glacier. We dined in the restaurant for dinner two of the nights, and both experiences were wonderful. The food was top-notch for dinner, and the cocktails were also superb! The breakfast each morning, which I believe was included, was absolutely delicious! There were a lot of healthy options provided. I would also like to highly recommend the medical facility that was quite close to the hotel, TMSALUD. I had an issue with my knee and got in quickly to have a consult with Dr. Gimenez, who was INCREDIBLE! Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel not only for the accommodations, but for location to all the attractions nearby.

Spent a total of 4 nights at the Parque Hotel. The staff was always very helpful and the room large and comfortable, with a small living room + bedroom and plenty of storage space. Breakfast was also quite good. BUT: the hotel has a massive noise problem! Being located on a secondary street a block away from the main one, you will have to deal with loud cars and bus driving by at all times (yes, also at night) and, especially, dogs. 2 nights out of 4 we could not sleep at all because there were dogs barking right below our window for hours on end. On top of that, being in room 204 we had above us the gym and boardgames area, which some families with small children thought would be appropriate to use as a playground until late at night and sometimes also early morning (6am). Being the walls paper thin, it felt like having a stampede of horses above us. If you stay in El Calafate, I’d much rather pick the Mirador del Lago hotel (we spent 2 nights there), which belongs to the same chain and has similar price, but much better vibe and plenty of quietness.

Stayed here as part of an Inspiring Vacations tour. It isn't the type of place you want to stay if on a tour and wanting to see the destination city. Design Suites Calafate is technically I guess in Calafate, but in reality is located about 7km from the part of town as a tourist you'll want to go to and spend most of your day at, or even as someone who is hungry and wants to buy either a meal or just a bottle of soft drink or snack from a shop. There are no shops whatsoever in the vicinity of Design. It's one of those places where if you gave someone directions those directions include turn off the paved road. I did walk into ”town” the first day of my stay, you walk down a lot of dirt roads, there's some derelict houses between you and the tourist area (I never felt unsafe at all), as well as plenty of newer houses, hotels and lots of buildings under construction. In fact the great view which is the number one thing this place has going for it, I think if you came back in five years, would be completely different. But at the moment you get a great view from your room (if you get one facing Lake Argentina) or from the dining room and other common rooms. It's nice but it's like a painting, it never really changes. For me I'd rather walk 7kms to see a nice view, stay there for long enough to take it in, then go back to my accommodation where the main town/tourist area is. You really need a car if you're staying here, although they do have to free scheduled shuttle drop offs and pickup times, although they are not very convenient times so I never used it. Room comes with breakfast which is a buffet serve yourself what you want from a couple of tables. Juice, various sliced bread to toast, fruit, cereals, pastries. There were scrambled eggs and on the first day these weird bacon fat things. The second day some little frankfurt things were mixed in with the bacon fat. I preferred it without them. The staff were always quite friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size, two beds had been pushed together to form a double, the second night kind of noticed the gap as you sort of fall in between them. But it was comfortable. These weird leather women's purse type pillows were on the bed and were very uncomfortable along with great normal ones. An odd collection of wires hung above the bed for some reason. Was it art? I don't know. Bathroom toilet was excellent. Shower unfortunately was in a bath tub. No need for a shower curtain with how it was designed. The wash your hands basin though was too shallow. Like the depth of a dinner plate. Walls were really thin, you could here everything that was being said by the loud talker in the room next door.

Hotel decentrato e per andare in centro al paese occorreva far euna lunga scalinata corrispondente a otto piani circa e poi camminare a lungo. La camera era arredata miseramente con mobili vecchi e rovinati. Non c'era una presa elettrica vicina al letto. La porta della camera ( a piano terra) non si chiudeva bene , i turisti facevano molto baccano sino a tardi e nessuno diceva loro nulla. La moquette era lercia. Gli asciugamani ruvidi e striminziti. Unica note positiva che alcune persone del Personle erano molto gentili. Il costo delle camere in Booking è uno sproposito rispetto al costo della vita in Argentina e a quanto l'hotel offre. Valeva massimo 20 euro al giorno, altro che oltre 100 euro.

After brilliant experiences all over Argentina, Arakur in Ushuaia, Los Cerros in El Chalten, to hotels in Bariloche, BA. Mendoza etc, we were excited to stay here at Lagos. How disappointing. The breakfast was the quality of a hotel one third the price. They could not control guests at 1am from running up and down hallways, partying in rooms. The walls have no insulation, so my wife could hear snoring through her ear plugs, through a wall. The staff were obnoxiously rude. The rooms dated, no free water. At least they were clean. The lobby is nice, the pool beautiful. The chainsaw, mower and other power tools all day outside window, for three days though has been testing. Ask to speak to manager and got nothing. Changing rooms to cheaper one but not getting refundwas also hard. Do not recommend

The staff was so helpful to us. I accidentally left my camera on the bus, and they spent significant time on the phone with the bus company helping me retrieve it. They were always friendly and helpful, and the best part of this hostel. Another highlight of the hostel is the extensive common area, which is clean and spacious. Soft drinks, beer, and meals are available there, and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The hotel is a short walk, maybe 10 minutes, to the heart of the El Calafate restaurant/bar district. It’s also walkable to the bus station, perhaps 20-25 minutes. The luggage storage was large and very helpful for the 3 days we backpacked near Fitzroy. The private room with private bath was clean and simple. Wi-Fi worked well.

THE GOOD: The hotel is beautifully decorated, with a great ”elevated mountain lodge” vibe. The lobby and restaurant area are beautiful, and breakfast was tasty. Having a pool and sauna was also nice to unwind after a long day of hiking. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The hotel is not on the main ***** of town but a short 10-minute walk away, so it's no inconvenience. THE NOT SO GOOD: The level of service was definitely not up to par with the price/category of the hotel. At those prices you expect attentive, effective service and that's not what we got. They seemed overwhelmed and unprepared, and they made various mistakes throughout our stay (prepared the wrong lunch boxes even though we made sure 4 times before that they had gotten the order right, mistakenly gave our room key to other guests who entered our room, etc.). None of it was that important, but their reaction made us feel like we weren't important to them at all - they even said they'd send complimentary gifts to our room to apologize, which they never did (thus making the matter even worse). Overall it's a good choice for lodging in El Calafate as long as you don't have crazy high standards regarding service.

Muy buen hotel, limpio, silencioso y muy bien ubicado a 1 1/2 cuadras de la calle princiapal. El servicio de Wi Fi funciona muy bien aun en la habitacion. Ofrecen desayuno, aunque no muy variado, ni siquiera te ofrecen una mermelada de Calafate que es lo tipico del lugar y te lo quieren vender en todos lados.No posee restaurante para almuerzo o cena, pero si servicio de viandas para alguna excursion que a esta fecha Noviembre/2023 cuesta $ 4000. Las habitaciones son espaciosas e impecables, con excelentes colchones, buena presion de agua en la ducha, muy limpias y cuentan con frigobar. Algo que incomoda un poco es que la calefaccion esta super fuerte asi que a veces sofoca, mas si tocan dias agradables, pero se soluciona abriendo un poco para ventilar. No tiene ascensor, asi que si les toca habitacion en el 1er piso deben subir sus valijas por escalera. Durante todo el dia se puede tener agua caliente en el salon desayunador, sistema autoservicio. Cuenta con estacionamiento. El trato del personal en general es bastante frio, aunque no descortes. Me parecio un lindo hotel, volveria.

This hotel is some way out of the town. Approximately one and a half hours walk but there is a bus service starting at mid day. The positives first. Lovely views of lake, staff mostly attentive but sometimes difficult to make ourselves understood in English. Good food in restaurant for dinner. Not so good for breakfast. The negatives. The “gym” is not a gym. Home style treadmill with no elevation, two bikes, upright not working. A few very light weights. Room was very poor. No soundproof, you could literally hear every word from the room next to ours and certainly knew when they used the bathroom! Beds basic and uncomfortable. One very thin pillow. We had to put cushions under it and still uncomfortable. No hairdryer in our room. No plug for bath. Towels thin and torn. Very basic amenities and no shower gel. No kettle in room. Finally the checkout time is 10am but we were not informed of this. Had a phone call at ten past to ask where we were. They seemed angry with us. There is a very small notice at the reception desk that was not drawn to our attention when we checked in.

Spent a total of 4 nights at the Parque Hotel. The staff was always very helpful and the room large and comfortable, with a small living room + bedroom and plenty of storage space. Breakfast was also quite good. BUT: the hotel has a massive noise problem! Being located on a secondary street a block away from the main one, you will have to deal with loud cars and bus driving by at all times (yes, also at night) and, especially, dogs. 2 nights out of 4 we could not sleep at all because there were dogs barking right below our window for hours on end. On top of that, being in room 204 we had above us the gym and boardgames area, which some families with small children thought would be appropriate to use as a playground until late at night and sometimes also early morning (6am). Being the walls paper thin, it felt like having a stampede of horses above us. If you stay in El Calafate, I’d much rather pick the Mirador del Lago hotel (we spent 2 nights there), which belongs to the same chain and has similar price, but much better vibe and plenty of quietness.

No screens on the windows so if you open them to moderate temperature, you could get a fly or two. Housekeeping was solid. Front desk was helpful (restaurant recommendations, booking a taxi to the airport, confirming our excursion pickup). You will most likely be out early in the morning and back in the evening to clean up before heading into town for dinner. As a result, your time in your room is nominal - just to sleep and that's about the best way to get through your stay. If you come during the holidays. expect to pay holiday sized rates!

THE GOOD: The hotel is beautifully decorated, with a great ”elevated mountain lodge” vibe. The lobby and restaurant area are beautiful, and breakfast was tasty. Having a pool and sauna was also nice to unwind after a long day of hiking. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The hotel is not on the main ***** of town but a short 10-minute walk away, so it's no inconvenience. THE NOT SO GOOD: The level of service was definitely not up to par with the price/category of the hotel. At those prices you expect attentive, effective service and that's not what we got. They seemed overwhelmed and unprepared, and they made various mistakes throughout our stay (prepared the wrong lunch boxes even though we made sure 4 times before that they had gotten the order right, mistakenly gave our room key to other guests who entered our room, etc.). None of it was that important, but their reaction made us feel like we weren't important to them at all - they even said they'd send complimentary gifts to our room to apologize, which they never did (thus making the matter even worse). Overall it's a good choice for lodging in El Calafate as long as you don't have crazy high standards regarding service.

Hotel decentrato e per andare in centro al paese occorreva far euna lunga scalinata corrispondente a otto piani circa e poi camminare a lungo. La camera era arredata miseramente con mobili vecchi e rovinati. Non c'era una presa elettrica vicina al letto. La porta della camera ( a piano terra) non si chiudeva bene , i turisti facevano molto baccano sino a tardi e nessuno diceva loro nulla. La moquette era lercia. Gli asciugamani ruvidi e striminziti. Unica note positiva che alcune persone del Personle erano molto gentili. Il costo delle camere in Booking è uno sproposito rispetto al costo della vita in Argentina e a quanto l'hotel offre. Valeva massimo 20 euro al giorno, altro che oltre 100 euro.

En cambio a la vuelta de Chaltén, nos tocó la hab 5; la cama era un catre, el colchon viejo, no nos cambiaron ni de habitacion ni el colchon. A la mañana al usar el secador estaba QUEMADO. Pedimos otro...tampoco funcionaba. El resto aceptable, repito: 2 estrellas.

En estas vacaciones en el Calafate, nos alojamos en este Hermoso Hotel. Cuenta con todos los servicios necesarios para una muy buena estadía en la ciudad. Las habitaciones son muy cómodas y la limpieza es muy buena. Cuenta con restaurant y servicio de Buffet. Eso si, este Hotel,se encuentra un poco alejado del centro de Calafate, por lo que no se puede ir caminando. Tiene un parque muy bueno y un Deck para poder disfrutar del Sol. El estacionamiento es al aire libre en un playon frente al Hotel.

I am seeing a lot of negative reviews and that compelled me to share my experience. My paperwork reads the Xelena as a 4 star hotel. We booked a lakeview room and when we checked in, it was at the ground level. A jogging/bike path was in front and a patch of lawn with access to the spa was in front of the picture window. I didn't like it and asked to be moved. I also wonder if the heater was broken as the room was hot and the window would not stay open. We got moved to a room on the 4th floor, same level as the reception. We still have a view of the lake, just with some tree branches in front. I like our bathroom. I like the stone and everything about it. I like there are a few places to hang our towels. I like the big closet. The furniture is sp**** but comfortable for us. The pillows are great. There are two double beds but maintenence converted them to a King like on a cruises cruiseship. Unlike other Argentinian hotels where a bellhop walks us to our room and shows us how to use the tech, Xelena didn't have that and we needed help with the heater. Our 2nd room had a newer AC/heater and it was easier to use. No problem with the auto blinds. Overall, a nice experience. I enjoyed our included breakfast. I like our coffee in the room as I enjoy the view and the quiet before going to the buffet. We also appreciate the complimentary shuttle to town.

Beautiful clean and modern rooms, finished to perfection! The receptionists were very helpful with everything I.e early check in, booking tours, airport taxi’s and general advice Also in a fantastic location. 15 minute walk to a Laguna and 10 minute walk into the main town. Highly recommend this place to anyone - couples, families or groups! Exactly what we needed for a few days here ☺️

Los puntos más altos son ; la limpieza de la habitación ,baño y la comodidad de la cama y almohadas . El desayuno buffet excelente . En términos generales Una agradable estadía, Como sugerencia ampliar un poco más la carta de comidas y sándwich .

Spent a total of 4 nights at the Parque Hotel. The staff was always very helpful and the room large and comfortable, with a small living room + bedroom and plenty of storage space. Breakfast was also quite good. BUT: the hotel has a massive noise problem! Being located on a secondary street a block away from the main one, you will have to deal with loud cars and bus driving by at all times (yes, also at night) and, especially, dogs. 2 nights out of 4 we could not sleep at all because there were dogs barking right below our window for hours on end. On top of that, being in room 204 we had above us the gym and boardgames area, which some families with small children thought would be appropriate to use as a playground until late at night and sometimes also early morning (6am). Being the walls paper thin, it felt like having a stampede of horses above us. If you stay in El Calafate, I’d much rather pick the Mirador del Lago hotel (we spent 2 nights there), which belongs to the same chain and has similar price, but much better vibe and plenty of quietness.

Nos hospedamos en pareja. Habitación 213. Aterrados por los comentarios leídos acá. Naaaah, El hotel nos pareció buenísimo! Limpio, todos muy amables, bien el desayuno y la cena. Buenisima la onda de todos! Vayan tranquilos. Queda cerca del centro. Volvería sin dudar. Saludos para todos.
