Hotel berhampiran Petersberg Citadel, Erfurt

We stayed in this hotel on two separate nights bookending a trip to Frankfurt. This hotel is not - in our experience - typical of the Mercure brand. Far too often Mercure's are in good locations but somewhat rundown, tired and in need of attention. This is quite the opposite. It appears to have been wholly refurbished in the last five years, it is looked after. The hotel is conveniently situated near to both the old town and the main, new shopping area, both being no more than five minutes walk away. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the railway station or (for us) a €10 taxi ride. There is paid for car parking if required. This is a deceptively large hotel, the short frontage belies the fact that it has 141 rooms. The hotel stretches back from its frontage - we felt it was long and not very wide. It is spread over four floors and possibly an attic. We were on the fourth floor for our first visit and on the first floor for the second. Entry into the hotel from the street leads to a small reception area with ottoman seating. Screened from reception is a small bar and another soft seating area. The bar had elusive opening times - but seemed not to operate before 18:00 hours. Service was good. There is a restaurant that is not the breakfast room but that was not open during our stay with no sign of opening on the horizon. All public areas were clean, tidy and well maintained, albeit with a Alpine overtone! Access to the upper floors is via dedicated lifts or stairs depending upon the location of the room, with some rooms there is quite a walk to the lift. There is a small garden and paved area with seating. We saw no specific provision for disabled access but believe that the hotel is easy enough to negotiate. There is a separate breakfast room which works very well albeit it is not large. It is at the furthest end of the hotel from reception and bypasses some of the meeting rooms. Whilst these rooms were used during our stays we experienced no difficulties. We took breakfast early and the restaurant was never full or cramped. Breakfast is generous but prettty standard continental fare. Our first room (413) was a standard room and disappointing although it was clean and well cared for. Our second room however (136) was an upgrade and provided exceptional space and comfort for a reasonable price. Had we been able to satisfactorily understand the room descriptions and attributes on the website a room such as 136 would have been our preference. It had a large and comfortable double bed, a small seating area with table, a separate desk along with the usual accessories of a safe, TV, wifi etc. We didn't try the TV but everything else worked. There is no aircon but there is very effective radiator heating. We can imagine that opening the windows for some rooms would produce a great deal of street noise, but both our rooms were towards the rear of the hotel and quiet. Der Aufenthalt an sich war sehr schön. Das Zimmer jedoch recht klein, und der Parkplatz musste seperat mit 20 Euro gezahlt werden. Ausserdem fab es keine Wasserflasche im Zinmer, was bei einem so guten Hotel eigentlich erwartet wird. Ansonsten war es sehr sauber und ordentlich

Unser Familienzimmer war sehr großzügig und sauber. Bad war auch größer, als in den Standard-Doppelzimmern der Hotelkette. Obwohl direkt zur Hauptverkehrsstraße gelegen, blieb die Lärmbelastung (bei geschlossenen Schallschutzfenstern) absolut erträglich und wir konnten bestens schlafen. Die Nähe zum Hauptbahnhof und in die Innenstadt, verbunden mit dem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, war für uns die perfekte Kombination. Wir empfehlen dieses Hotel für einen Städtetrip in die sehenswerte Landeshauptstadt.

Modern design hotel near Erfurt main train station, and a short walk to old city center. Standard double room was simple but comfortable, very clean, with good beds and bathroom. Nice staff, but check-in process seemed a little slow - we had to queue up for some minutes despite there were not so many guests awaiting check-in. Breakfast was good (buffet) but a little crowded .

Das Beste ist die verkehrsgünstige Lage, die inkludierte Minibar und das Frühstück - aber das ist auch schon alles. Die Sauberkeit im Hotel ist nicht gegeben - Zwiebelreste und Brösel im Flur, verschmierte Flächen im Aufzug, Kronkorken vom Vorgänger im Zimmer. Bei der Ankunft interessierte vor allem, dass von uns alles vorab bezahlt wurde, kein Hinweis, dass wir vor dem Hotel das Gepäck ausladen können obwohl es in Strömen regnete. Keine Garage nur ein Parkplatz ca. 100 m entfernt mit Gepäck über Stufen - kein barrierefreier Parkplatz. Anfragen des Hotels nur in Englischer Sprache. Sauna müsste man 24 Std. im voraus buchen - Im Zimmer sehr wenig Ablagefläche und nur ein winziges Fenster das nur gekippt werden kann. Die Pflegemittel von Rituals sind sehr gut. Die Betten sind sehr hart, für eine Nacht genügen die Handtücher. Das Personal ist sehr unterschiedlich, sehr freundlich sind die Mitarbeiter des Restaurants, die Dame bei unserer Ankunft war unmotiviert bis gelangweilt. Wenn ich als Deutsche ein Hotel in Deutschland buche, dann möchte ich auch den Pre check inn und die hoteleigene Bewertung in deutscher Sprache ausfüllen und nicht in englischer Sprache. Alles in allem ist das Hotel mit dem Übernachtungspreis überteuert, zumal der Service unglaublich eingeschränkt ist. Wir werden uns nicht noch einmal für dieses Hotel in Erfurt entscheiden.

Needed a hotel to break up a trip after a long drive. Chose this hotel because I am usually a fan of the BW group in Germany. It did not disappoint. Only stayed one night but the room was well prepared and very clean. Bathroom was modern. Bed was comfortable. It also had a restaurant with a lot of choices for dinner and a great selection of foods for breakfast. Staff mostly spoke English and were very helpful.

Historisches, top renoviertes, Hotel gegenüber vom Bahnhofsplatz mit privatem Pkw Stellplatz und 15 Gehminuten von Altstadt entfernt. Sehr freundliche Rezeption, ansprechendes Foyer mit schöner Bar. Frühstücksraum in grossem Wintergarten. Frühstücksbuffet ist eher nur Standard wird dem sehr guten Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis aber durchaus gerecht. Einzelzimmer sind allerdings sehr klein! Check in erst ab 15h!

Wir haben uns wieder auf die Spuren deutscher Geschichte gemacht und sind dieses Mal nach Weimar gekommen. Das Hotel konnten wir über Personights buchen und hatten einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt. Der Empfang war herzlich und das Zimmer top ausgestattet - es ist alles neu und gut durchdacht. Das Frühstück war zwar übersichtlich, jedoch für unsere Belange völlig ausreichend. Die Damen vom Frühstücksservice waren sehr liebenswert. Der junge Mann, der abends die Bar schmeißt, hat uns gut beraten und konnte uns auch überraschen. Schade, dass wir spontan früher abreisen mussten. Alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert und die Gegend sowieso!! Vielen Dank an das Team!

Ich hatte ein sehr ruhiges großes Zimmer mit einer bodengleichen Regendusche. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück ist ein Traum. Es gab losen Tee, das kannte ich gar nicht, Hafermilch und sowieso alles, was man sich nur vorstellen kann.
