The hotel is located in a beautifully renovated building in the center of Breda. Stylish with many authentic elements but with a modern twist. If you come by car, you can choose the Valet service or park your car in the practically nearby parking De Barones yourself. The parking garage has several charging stations for electric cars. We arrived at the restaurant side of the hotel looking for the entrance. An attentive employee saw us and asked if we were looking for the hotel. He took over our suitcase and escorted us to the front desk to check-in. See, now that's hospitality. The ladies at the front desk were also very friendly and welcomed me as a Platinum member with a nice room upgrade. My room on the 5th floor was very spacious — lovely big bed, separate toilet, spacious bathroom with separate bath and walk-in shower. Besides a bottle of Holy water, there is also a Nespresso machine for a cup of coffee. Too bad the bar was closed in the evening, and we had to go out for drinks. They served breakfast in the former chapel. Found that space is somewhat claustrophobic as you are locked in and can't see outside.

Nice hotel close to the centre of Breda. 15 minutes walk from the train station through the park. 5 minutes walk from the Grote Markt and numerous bars, restaurants and shopping. The room was of a good size and the super kingsize bed was very comfortable however the pillows were soft. We had a superior room on the 4th floor at the back of the hotel so the room was very quiet and looked over some lowrise apatrtments. The bathroom was a good size with a bathtub and shower. The water was always hot. We didn't eat in the hotel but we used the bar a few times. It was reasonably priced compared to the bars in the centre of town. All the staff we met were friendly, professional and courteous. We would stay in this hotel again and would recommend it to friends and family.

The Bastion Hotel in roosendaal was quite an experience, in good ways and bad ways. I have to admit the cleaning schedule and some of the workers were not what was expected of a hotel, the food was wrong when we ordered it, and we had several issues with room keys not working. However. There were three members of staff that made our visit absolutely incredible. Dave, Ravi, and Jordi are amazing. The level of customer service we received compared to elsewhere in the Netherlands was exemplary. Any problem we had was quickly resolved. They met us as professionals, and 12 days later we left as friends. After 10 hours work in a different country, we were greeted with pleasant smiles, friendly faces and engaging conversation, which after a long day is exactly what you need. The customer service provided by these three employes was absolutely next level and I will be sure to visit the Bastion next time just to see these three guys. Thank you for making my stay as good as you could. Big respect.

This is a perfect place to rest your head . The beds are big and cozy , the breakfast is basic but very healthy and tasty . The one thing that makes this place stand out is the staff , everyone is friendly , helpful and if you have a question , they will help you . I have had the most wonderful experience within you breakfast area with your breakfast chec Daniella. I have been to lots of hotels and for me the breakfast experience counts most. I asked Daniella to assist me with making egg mixed with mushrooms and some fresh chillies. Without any hesitation whe made sure to find what I needed without any effort by looking within your kitchen area. She made me feel welcoming and made sure I have what I need. I asked for a hot sauce as well and she made that possible as well. The reason why I say this that from the few van der valk hotels I have stayed has not made the effort at breakfast to make my needs feel as important as the stay. So I would like to tanks Daniella from the bottom of my heart for making this possible and going the extra mile for a avid van der valk customer. Will definitely come back because of her.

I booked this hotel again as we’ve liked it on previous trips for the Efteling. On this occasion we found the room to be very good with comfy beds, nice bedding, clean and stylish. What I would wish for at this price is some tea and coffee making facilities. It is ridiculous to have to go to the reception and buy coffee when you’ve paid quite a lot for the hotel. In the evening we ate in the hotel as a large group made up of 3 families. The food was excellent however when we came to pay we were very surprised that we could not split the bill. The bill was €200 so obviously no one wants to pay for all of that! We wanted to make one payment per family ie 3 payments to clear the bill. The staff member said we had to make only one payment in total because we had all sat together. She was a bit rude and we all found this very odd.
