Hotel Fjallabyggð dengan Sarapan

We stayed in the Herring House for 2 days, having booked before online. Email correspondence was great and on arrival we got a very nice welcome from the owners. A lot of effort has been put into the accommodation. It is modern and well fitted out and there are plenty of tourist brochures provided. Wifi was free and worked well. There are 4 bedrooms and a shared shower/toilet and shared kitchen/dining room facilities. The shower was good (hand held), if a little small. We had a double room with a nice comfortable bed. Siglufjordur is a nice fishing village which has benefited from some recent hotel investment and the well-known Herring museum. There is a campsite in the middle of the village and some nice looking restaurants. We took a drive west along the coast, where there are some great sea views. You can also walk along the avalanche fences on the hill high above the village. Some of the other villages in the area have clearly not benefitted as much from recent investment as Siglufjordur. If you are looking for a place to stay in the north of Iceland, we would definitely recommend Herring House.

Friends had recommended the Siglo Hotel in Siglufjordhur as being really good. I was offered an upgrade to a fjord view room in advance at a cost of €65 per night and it really was worthwhile: the room was spacious with a king-size bed and a lovely view of the fjord and snow-capped hills. We ate in the restaurant both nights and were able to choose easily. The seafood soup, marinated salmon, artic char, cod, beef and beets were all excellent. The hot tub was very special and we really enjoyed the locally brewed IPA which can be drunk in the hot tub. The staff were all lovely, helpful and efficient. We were recommended to a fantastic walk to the local forest and waterfall (about 5 miles in total). We had a memorable stay.

В цілому все непогано, але... є одне але. Так як це Guesthouse і не має рецепшен з персоналом, то виникає питання як попасти до будівлі коли Ви приїхали пізно в вечорі або вночі? Господарь Guesthouse має надіслати Вам на пошту всі інструкції з кодами до дверей за день до заїзду. В нашому випадку листа не було а ні в спамі, а ніде. То ми на вітру та під дощем в мінус 3 градуса витратили хвилин 40 поки через службу підтримки і одночасно через сторінку Salt Guesthouse в Instagram не знайшли коректний номер власника, бо в системі trip.com був вказаний номер з автовідповідачем, якій нам пропонував зателефонувати вранці...
