Hotel berhampiran Publix Super Market at First Street Village, Fort Myers

Super hôtel, récent, très propre. Les chambres sont décorées avec goût, spacieuses, literie confortable, pas de bruit. Le parking est gratuit, il y a un laundry dans l’établissement au RDC. L’hôtel est à proximité du centre ville (environ 8min à pied). Le personnel est très aimable et à l’écoute. Petit-dej classique complet avec du choix sucré/salé.

We visited Fort Myers for a wedding in downtown (first timers in America from Wales, UK) and we stayed for 4 nights. The location is ideal for the price very close to everything but very reasonable prices. The hotel is a little tired but it is clean and has a lovely pool, breakfast was also super good value at 9.95 dollars, for a hot buffet. What made the hotel a great choice for us was the lovely welcoming and helpful team... I only wish I could remember everyone's name! The lovely gentleman who we first met on arrival and saw most days (Scottish/American) was super helpful and knowledgeable of the area, and his colleague (night porter) was great too, a young man (I think Duty Manager for the first 2 days) was super efficient, friendly and gave us advice on how to get around the local area, the lady with the lovely smile, glasses and brown/dark red shoulder length hair on reception was so welcoming and Debbie from breakfast really was fantastic an asset to the team, so many other staff too made our stay, who all gave a welcoming smile and hello. Other reviews say unsavory characters around the hotel etc at night, I personally wouldn't wander anywhere at night in a foreign country/town to my home, yes there were some vulnerable people on the streets at night (like most of the world), you could be in the 'poshest hotel in the world' and still be at risk, I certainly didn't feel unsafe in the hotel. We love this location right in the middle of downtown Fort Myers, Florida. We've stayed here a few times, including before the recent renovation. There is a an interesting variety of rooms with different layouts which we enjoyed. This time we chose a King room with balcony and city view. The balcony is small but big enough for 2 people and while it does have an ok ”city view,” it also looks down upon another roof below with all the air conditioners (something we do not like when paying extra for a ”view”). However, you can also see the river along with a bit of Patio DeLeon, in the middle of downtown Fort Myers. At night, is where the view shines with all the colorful lighting and usual music can be heard from live musicians. This room is fairly large for a boutique hotel with a larger than usual TV. However, the TV and dresser on which it sits are oddly placed in a corner at an angle, and pretty far from the bed detracting from the size of the screen. Programming is not in HD and also not set to the correct proportions (everything was vertically compressed) and the remote does not allow adjustments for this. It has a nice kitchenette area with a mini fridge but no microwave which we thought it should have given the price for the room and how inexpensive small microwaves cost (It may have been an option but it should already be there). Shower is very nice but every 30 seconds the water pressure dropped, then climbed back up - no biggie, just odd. Toilet paper seemed cheap for this type of hotel but all other items seemed to match this type of hotel. You have to pay $3 per bottle for the 2 bottles that are already in the room. It's like ”nickel and diming” for something as inexpensive as bottled water - like having no microwave, it takes away from the experience given the price of the room. Some light fixtures were not fully seated into the ceiling and like most hotels, the air vent in the bathroom had visible dust (I realize most people don't even look at these things, but I tend to notice it). The bed, although newer, was very firm, and not what we typically find in an upscale hotel. The walls are ”thin” allowing sounds from outside and adjacent rooms to be heard which is just an observation, not necessarily a negative. Front desk personnel were friendly, professional and helpful. Parking options are basically valet or one of 2 nearby parking garages. One parking garage is literally across the street which worked great for us at a lot less than using valet - pros and cons to each. The ice machine on our floor was not working which requires you to acquire ice on another floor (we were on the 7th floor - the top floor). There is a nice little rooftop bar which has a similar view of the city as our room but a little higher. The bar area has decent seating with a good mix of small couches, chairs and high top tables. We did not eat or have room service during this stay but it's available. Overall, it's a very nice, small hotel in an ideal, convenient location and we will definitely go back.

Tolle Aussicht, wenn man ein höheres Zimmer bekommt. Das Fischrestaurant zwischen den beiden Towern kann ganz schön laut sein am Abend. Wir hatten zusätzlich ein Senioren-Bowlingteam am Pool sitzen, die abends zusätzlich nochmal ordentlich aufgedreht haben. Alle Zimmer haben den Super Blick Richtung Fort Myers und man kann bis spät Abends super auf dem Balkon sitzen und den Ausblick bei einem (oder mehr) wohlverdienten Bier(en) genießen.

We stayed one night. When checking in, the front desk person could not find my rate and tried to tell me if was a higher rate. This should have been my first clue as to the type of hotel it is. Going into the room, it was medium clean, but we were only staying one night and less than 12 hours so we thought we could survive. It wasn't until the next morning that we saw there was no soap for a shower, which would have been ok as I had some with me, but the water pressure was terrible, and this was at 6 am. We passed on a shower, packed our bags and went to breakfast. I told the front desk clerk and she made a production about writing down the room number and they would check out the water pressure. I also mentioned that there was no soap. She said that we could have requested another room, but they did know there wasn't enough soap available because the order didn't come in. (hello, you're by a large city; aren't there any supercenters around?) Then we ate breakfast, not a very good one, and no juice available in the machine -- what's wrong with buying plastic containers and putting the juice in a small dispenser? When we sat down, the table next to us was laughing at what I'd said to the desk clerk. They had so little water pressure that it took 20 minutes to wash out the soap in their hair! As we talked to them, they had the same complaints we did. We finished packing the car and checked out. I asked for a receipt and we had a charge for a wall safe that we never used. I asked for it to be taken off and she did so reluctantly. I will check my credit card bill to make sure this happened. All in all, I would never stay there again. I called corporate and complained, and I just received an email (not very professionally written and full of misspellings and grammar mistakes) stating that I received a discounted rate and they were not going to discount the room any more. I think I've convinced my husband that the cheapest hotel is not necessarily the way to go. Remember, you get what you pay for.
