The motel is situated in a quiet corner with private car park and close to the restaurants and tour booking centers. The room is clean and comfortable but small and without stove.

Perfect location for accessing the glaciers and surrounding area. Immaculate lodges with everything that might be needed, I wish we had longer to stay there. Can’t fault a thing!

We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely stay. The hostel was super clean, cosy with a fireplace lit every night for the cold weather and super friendly staff. It is a great location and Georgie was incredible, going above and beyond to help us! So helpful and friendly! I highly recommend!

Brilliant location and views, amazing cabins and quiet. We decided to stay here for 2 nights after the rain had settled in and slow our trip down. The location is approximately 5 kilometres out of Franz Josef itself but the benefit is the peace and quiet and large cabins. The cabins had a well kitted out full kitchen, large lounge and dining room and good sized bathroom. There were 2 heaters in the room which kept us toastie warm all night. There were DVDs in the reception for you to use free of charge and the gentleman at the reception was friendly and gave us some fresh milk to enjoy a cuppa with upon arrival. We will definitely be going back and staying on our next trip to NZ.

The room we had was tidy but old and tired plus cold. We did arrive around 5pm but once the heater went on it just wouldn’t warm up the room which really wasn’t big. The hot water was good in the shower thank goodness. There were also electric Blankets on some of the beds plus extra doonas which were very much needed.

We booked through *********** and requested a room with a view, but did not receive a reply. We had booked an executive studio for 2 nights and we’re put in a room with a terrace inches from the rain forest. ie no view and you couldn’t use the terrace because of mossies etc. We spoke to management and we’re moved the next night to room 5 which was upstairs and did have a balcony and a view. Rooms were large, comfortable and well equipped. The young man we spoke to when we complained about the original room was very pleasant and helpful. If you like looking at the rain forest this place is ok, otherwise I think there are better options.

My second visit, after 9 years and it's still the same. It's an achievement in itself about how you keep a hotel the same through a decade but kudos to the management for achieving that. Which also means my complaint from last time stays which is that the hotel and it's rooms are not sound proof and being in close proximity to the parking areas, there is a bit of a noise which saws through the tranquility of the space. Apart from that, it was a lovely stay, rained for 2 days of the three we were there but nonetheless it's always lovely to be staying at this hotel. The food at restaurant was great. If you order in early its better because they get pretty busy during meal time. And they are a favorite with the tour groups so good luck finding a table without reservation. The Landing Bar is 2 mins walking distance so that's an option as well. Location wise the hotel is perfect as it's just a stone's throw away from the supermarket (which is a welcome new addition) and the main activity areas which is the heli-hike, hiking, skydiving and the like.
