Park Hotel Post

After getting off a long train ride and hauling luggage through the station, we were thrilled that Park Hotel Post was only 1 1/2 blocks from the station, an easy walk even with 2 weeks worth of luggage. The hotel is very comfortable, and has a scenic location next to a park with wine grapes growing. It was less than 5 minutes walk to the heart of the old town. The breakfast buffet was very good and got us off to a good start every day. Traveling with a friend, we got a twin room, and my only disappoin**ent was the arrangement of the beds, as I couldn’t sit in bed and read the normal way. But the room was otherwise comfortable, very clean and had a closet for hanging clothes, something I appreciate as many hotels have done away with them. We also loved the town of Freiburg—it’s charming and surrounded by beautiful mountains.

I spent (for the second time) a week at the Freiburg Park Hotel. I can highly recommend this hotel for all the good reasons: the location (very close to the train station), the comfort, the design, the clean rooms, the great breakfast, and above all the warm service - from the cleaners, through the dining room to the front desk. The place is very central. If you happen to get a room on the 3rd floor facing the small park - you might think you are in Tuscany.... Pillows are not the best part of this place. Other than that - great place

Love the hotel. Old school charm with modern amenities. Easy walk from train station and easy to walk to old town.

Hotel is within walking distance of train station/bus station - even with luggage. It really wasn’t a bad walk. Very nice desk staff. Could easily communicate in English. I’m very insecure about my German, so that made things easier. Breakfast is a nice spread. Dining room staff were very attentive! Room was nice! Air conditioning unit didn’t do anything. It was running but barely a whisper coming out and Freiburg was hot in late May. Bed was comfortable. No top sheet - only a duvet. It made for hot nights. This seems to be how Europe rolls. Plug is under nightstand if you need to charge your phone. Shower was terrible! It was in a tub and the glass “enclosure” only went 1/4 around the tub and not in front of the shower head. Water went all over the floor every time you showered. If you’re not secure on your feet and you step out of the tub into the puddle on the floor you’re going down. How some older person hasn’t cracked their head open is beyond me. Each guest gets a free drink from the fridge. That was nice! Lovely view from our window! Easily walkable to the Munster and town. Very close to tram stop. FYI - Germany shuts down on Sundays. Can’t do much other than get something to eat.

Well-located hotel just outside the charming historic heart of Freiburg. We asked for rooms on the building’s quieter park side. With the window open, there was hardly any traffic noise or sound of church bells (the latter is apparently an issue closer to the city centre). The main occasional disturbance was rowdy people who’d had too much to drink. Our room was spacious with a good bathroom. Other pluses were the on-site garage and the good buffet breakfast included in the room price. The disappoin**ent was the ruthless modernisation of the interior of what is a historic, 19th-century hotel - as unfortunately is so often the case in Germany. The rooms and dining room must have once had charm but, sadly, no longer. And the choice of hallway carpets is appalling. Still, it gets a 4/5 from this Tripadvisor.

The staff was wonderful, the location is phenomenal, the breakfast was delicious (especially the ham, which looks deceptively simple but holy cow the flavor), and the room was clean and big by European standards. I can’t find fault with anything about our stay, there were even sweets in the lobby, at all times. I would definitely stay here again!

The staff is wonderful here and we had a bigger room with a balcony. The issue I had was cleanliness. There was hair in the tub when we checked in and I just figured run soapy water, it was probably from cleaning it and it's from the housekeeper. Then in the middle of the night I had flipped the pillow while sleeping, and in the morning saw there was blood on the pillow and on the sheets from previous guests. It was definitely already there and not from me. It seems the way the pillow with the blood on the side was placed down strategically so you can't see it, and there was blood on the sheets under the pillow. A little grossed out that my face was on it. I mentioned it to the front desk, they were very apologetic and said that was unacceptable and did have our room cleaned immediately. Still I spent $650 Euros to spend a night sleeping on someone else's blood. Gross and totally unhygenic. I really liked the blackout blinds that was a nice touch. The staff was all so nice, the breakfast staff is really nice and it is in a good location. The hotel can be renovated as it seems outdated but it would have been a better stay if we didn't experience what we had.

The hotel is in a very good location. Close to the old town of Freiburg. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, big variety of items. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable! A value for money hotel, I definitely recommend it!

The Hotel is very stylish, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, nice rooms and very good location, only a few minute walk to the train station. We will be back!
