Two night stay while we visited Luray Caverns about 29 miles away and drove along Skyline Drive. We chose to stay here because Hampton Inn was the most reliable accommodations in the area. We researched many other hotels in the vicinity of Luray, VA and weren't impressed. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Friendly, professional staff. The common areas - the lobby, breakfast area and lounge were impeccable. Breakfast was very good, with different choices each day. The second day in particular, breakfast was excellent with sliced smoked sausages, scrambled eggs and home fried potatoes. Sausage patties and western omelettes were served the first day. Waffles, bread, pastries, danishes, cold cereal, juice etc. available every day. Coffee and tea available in the lobby 24/7. We encountered a few minor issues during our stay. The pool is closed and there are ongoing renovations during the day, which we knew when we made our reservations. One night the fire alarm throughout the building went off after midnight. We acknowledge that these alarms are in place for our safety. I overheard someone say it was caused by a guest smoking in a stairwell. This is a no smoking facility. One day we were in the elevator and the doors wouldn't open when we reached the first floor. We took the elevator to another floor and the door opened. Later that day we saw a notice on the faulty elevator (there are two) and early the next morning a technician was fixing the problem. Because of these minor problems, I cannot give this facility 5 stars for this stay. It would not be fair to other hotels that have earned 5 stars in my reviews. However, we were very pleased and would not hesitate to stay here again.
