Eine neue, gute Adresse. Die Gegebenheiten sind von solider, gehobener Qualität, der Stil des Hotels entspricht heutigem Standard. Bemerkenswert gut funktionieren die Lifts, bemerkenswert zugewandt ist die gesamte Rezeption. Die Preise sind fair, bei sorgfältiger Wahl auch günstig. Nicht ganz so günstig erscheint die Anordnung der Frühstücksräume. Ein großer Vorzug ist es dagegen, dass es im Haus einen Durchgang zu einem Fitness-Studio und einer Bar gibt, wo man auch spätabends und nachts noch Getränke findet, und obendrein auch den einen oder anderen Bissen. Wow. What a trip that was to the Essen Spiel convention. And what an excellent hotel we have had the luck of booking a room into. Everything was top notch. We were given a room on the second floor, right across the elevator, in room 226. That was indeed super convenient, since for soundproofing, the windows were always shut, and I'm a smoker, so it made my outside trip to the smoking area easy. Everything in the room was where it should be. Plenty of sockets to plug our electronics in, a desk to put our convention stuff on and make our plans for the following day. Water pressure was spot on in the shower, all-in-one soap was naturally provided in a dispenser and filled daily. Room cleaning was done super meticulously in the morning and the cleaning people were nice and attentive when we happened to stumble upon them. All the staff we ran across were super nice and kind, even though we were always bugging them with annoying and trivial matters. The evening shift at the bar and reception really tried their best to satisfy our bothering demands. Hats off to them for putting up with us. I feel that we may have indeed tested their patience's limits. Despite all our best - or worst - but unintended in honesty - efforts to piss them off, they didn't even lose their smile. Great job, everyone! The cherry on top was the hotel's decision to open up a big room full of tables and chairs for the Spiel attendees to pass the night once the exhibition day was over. Really thoughtful and it's one of those small details that win people over. I'm looking forward to returning to the convention next year, and I'm sure I will be booking a room in this hotel alongside my plane and convention tickets. Keep it up, GHOTEL!

Prima Standort, um Essen zu erkunden - Folkwang-Museum, Ausgehmeile Rü und die Innenstadt in Laufweite, und andere Destinationen gut mit den Öffis zu erreichen. Praktisch: Parkplätze für 14 Euro/Tag direkt am Haus. Zimmer okay, vielleicht ein bisschen bemüht hip, aber das kann ja altersbedingte Geschmackssache sein. Extrapunkte für das supernette, superfixe, super engagierte Team am Empfang!

The hotel is just a few minutes from the Philharmonie U-Bahn station or just a 15 minute walk from the main station and hence very nicely located. The staff are very professional and gave me a good welcome. The room was very well-kept and for the price, a good size. Excellent WiFi coverage at good connectivity speeds. Overall, a very nice stay in a very nice hotel.

Das b&b liegt etwas ausserhalb der ”Hauptmeile” und ist deshalb ruhig - sehr gut. Trotzdem ist alles in der Innenstadt sehr gut zu Fuss erreichbar - für Nichtfussgänger*innen gibt eine Bushaltestelle vor der Tür. Alles erscheint ziemlich neu, es wird auch gerade angebaut. Die ZImmer sind sehr sauber und für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie großzügig und hell. Es gibt eine kleine Lobby mit Arbeitsplätzen für PC u.ä. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, allerdings wusste der junge Mann am Empfang mit meinen Anmeldeformular erst mal nichts anzufangen ;-) Noch einige kleine Nachteile: Da ich am Wochenende da war und viele Abends das Nachtleben in Bochum genossen hatten, ballte es sich zur Frühstückzeit 9-10°° sehr, dafür ist in dem kleinen Frühstückraum kein Platz, d.h. es wurde auch in der Lobby gefrühstück und die Schlagen am kleinen, aber feinen Buffet waren lang, das kann unter der Woche aber anders sein... Im Hotel und auf den Zimmern war es leider ziemlich kalt, bei einer Aussentemperatur von 18-20 C wurde die Klimaanlage sehr hochgefahren bzw. die Heizungen runter und es gab wenige Ecken, in denen es nicht von oben zog, Das ist im Frühjahr nicht nötig und macht es ungemütlich.

I was staying with a friend in a twin room for two nights, to visit a member of the Starlight Express cast, the Hotel is perfectly situated right next door to the Theatre. The Reception Staff were very welcoming and our room was esy to find, using a lift. The room itself was very clean, spacious and airy (it was a very hot weekend). Water (both Still & Sparkling), was provided. The bed was very comfortable and bedding crisp and clean. Bathroom was fine with a good Shower. Room would be improved by supplying Tea & Coffe making facilites and an extra mirror, as good mirrors in bathroom and one full ength on Bathroom door, but the room could de with another mirror in the main room, so that two people can get ready at the same time. The Breakfast was really good, with an excellent choice of Continental, with a smaller choice of cooked, but excellent all around and the Coffee was very good. The Courtyard area is a lovely area for coffee or a Cocktail and the restaurant staff were really friendly, professional, with all staff speaking English. I hope to be staying again next year- thank you very much team H!

When we checked in; 1 agent checked us in while the other 2 just stared at us like we were aliens. One of them had a smirk on their face throughout my check-in, I wanted to ask what she thought was so funny with us checking into the hotel but I didn’t want to spoil the evening. They all started laughing when we left the checkin desk. Know that we are non-European. Very unwelcoming and unprofessional. I suggest cultural diversity training. The beds were disgusting! Small strips of hair all over the fitted sheet. The Most Disgusting was the pee stain on the sheets! The bed smelled like piss too. It was supposed to be non-smoking but someone had been smoking in the room or the insulation/vent systems need more work. I didn’t want to deal with the unprofessional front desk staff so I suffered through the uncleanliness and just put 2 towels on top of the duvet just to feel at ease sleeping, even though we were only there for one night…Thank God I didn’t book for longer. The only positive was breakfast; it was adequate for 1 night stay. Definitely won’t be spending another dime here.

Nice hotel. The lady at the reception/bar was very friendly and working very hard. The lobby is nice with some cosy chairs and couches. Rooms are simple , but clean and really quiet. Shower had a decent water pressure. Breakfast was tasty, good variety of food.

Be aware that this is a 3-star hotel; that means: no in-room amenities like coffee, hot water, iron board. Soap/Shower Gel/Shampoo from an ”all-in-one” dispenser in the bathroom. + Lots of free parking space + The hotel lies next to a park with quiet surroundings. + My room was spacious and appeared clean. Bathroom was clean too. + The personnel was friendly. Unfortunately: - There was NO WiFi during my entire stay. Some problem that the IT at headquarters couldn't fix. This was a business trip, and having internet was crucial for my stay; I ended up using a lot of 4G data during these 3 days. IMO one can reasonably expect WiFi to be available, and I would expect to be informed if the WiFi is broken. - I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights (Thu - Sun). There was NO housekeeping in my room at any given time during my stay. These 2 things are the main reasons for me not coming back to this hotel another time. Then there were a number of smaller things that may or may not bother you: - They don't have any information perm/brochure/papers in the room. If you look at your keycard holder, you will see a website address where you can find info. I found that inconvenient. - Breakfast/Restaurant is in a separate building, you have to go outside and cross the yard to get there. Not ideal at 7-8am in December rain. - Breakfast is reasonable; limited choice, but good enough. - There's only one coffee machine in the restaurant and even though it was relatively quiet, there's almost always 1-2 people waiting in line for it. - Ash trays are placed next to every entrance. There are no designated smoking zones, and some people will smoke right next to the entrance. - The rooms have carpet, which I personally find less hygienic than wooden floor/parquet/laminate (particularly in a hotel room)
