We have just had the most fantastic 7 nights at this charming hotel in St Wolfgang, just a few minutes walk from the lake. The whole Wolfgangsee area is beautiful, and this family run hotel is the perfect place to stay while you explore. Staff are so helpful, rooms are a lovely size and spotlessly clean! As for the breakfast….just incredible! So much choice and beautifully presented on lovely cake stands. I even had my own vegetarian platter! Swimming in the lake at the private beach area was perfect- especially in the mini heatwave the area was experiencing! Thank you family Furian, we loved our stay!

I recently organized a weekend getaway trip for a couple of friends of mine. My best friend is getting married, and I was in charge of organizing the bachelor’s trip. Usually, this would entail renting a villa in Ibiza or Marbella for a weekend of partying, which we have done many times before. However, this time we decided to head to the Wolfgangsee to enjoy the beautiful mountains and lakes. We all lead busy lives, with kids, so this time around we wanted to take it easy and be active. After doing some research online, I came across Cortisen. It had everything we were looking for - a stunning waterfront deck with access to the lake, a pool with a spa, a fine wine collection, and much more. From the first moment I spoke with Roland on the phone, I knew we were in for a warm welcome and professional hospitality. During our trip, we explored the spectacular hiking trails, cycled the breathtaking roads on our road bikes, and hung out by the lake - they even had paddle boards, which added to the cool vibe of the place. We were fortunate with the weather, which made our stay even better. For those reading this review and wondering what a bunch of 34-year-olds were doing in a town full of retired couples, well, our stay didn’t go without a tiny hiccup. We did get a little noisy one evening, to be exact, it was only 11 pm (remember, this is Austria where people like to go to bed early). As responsible gentlemen, the next morning we personally apologized to Roland and the guests who were a little bothered. Roland was incredibly understanding and maybe even had a little smile about it. I think deep down, it was refreshing for him to have a group of guys hanging around. I highly recommend Cortiseen to all those who wish to stay in a sophisticated property. Their staff made us feel very welcome. This is the type of place that requires a certain level of respect and class from the guests, and I knew my friends would be respectful of Roland’s credo. Next time I will come with my wife. Alone. I have stayed at the Golden Ship a few times now, and I have always enjoyed my time there. However, I was particularly looking forward to my visit in early September because I knew that the Hotel had undergone extensive improvements since I was last there, pre-Covid. It did not disappoint, as the place looks amazing now. All of the Staff that I had dealings with were super helpful, especially the lady in the breakfast room who was keen to ensure that I was well looked after, lovely soul (I’m sorry, I didn’t get her name). I didn’t partake of the Spa facilities nor Restaurant, so can’t comment on those, but the Breakfasts are legendary, with everything you could wish for. I also liked the lockers, where you can store your baggage if there’s time to kill between checking-out and leaving the area. There are also now 2 lifts which help with elevator congestion The proximity to the town centre and the Bus/Railway station, coupled with Austria’s efficient public transport network makes the Hotel Goldenes Schiff a fantastic choice for someone like myself who never hires a vehicle whilst overseas. Bad Ischl is a superb base for exploring the Salzkammergut region, and I wouldn’t hesitate to sort accommodation at this hotel when I’m next there.

I recently stayed at the newly renovated Schloss Fuschl, a hotel that boasts a truly breathtaking location near Salzburg. Nestled beside one of the most stunning lakes in the world, the natural beauty surrounding this property is nothing short of spectacular. The serene waters, framed by lush, rolling hills and vibrant greenery, create a picturesque backdrop that is almost otherworldly. It’s easy to lose yourself in the tranquil environment, with the glistening lake reflecting the sky and the calmness of nature seeping into your soul. The decor of the hotel itself is exceptional, seamlessly blending modern luxury with classic charm, making it a feast for the eyes at every turn. However, despite the unparalleled beauty of the setting and the impressive decor, the experience at Schloss Fuschl was unfortunately marred by significant issues with service. The hotel, having opened only a month ago, clearly needed a soft opening period to address operational inefficiencies before welcoming outside guests. The service was disorganized, with staff morale appearing to be notably low. This led to an experience that fell far short of the standards one would expect from a Rosewood property, especially given the exorbitant cost of staying here. Upon arrival, we made our way to the dock, hoping to enjoy the remaining daylight by the lake. Unfortunately, the dock was filthy, littered with dirty towels and dishes, and there was no staff member in sight to assist us. This lack of attention to detail was disappointing, particularly given that there were still several hours of daylight left to enjoy the lake. The unkempt state of such a central part of the hotel’s outdoor experience was unacceptable. Dinner was another disappointing experience. The restaurant was packed with outside guests, making it nearly impossible for us, as hotel guests, to find a proper table. We were forced to sit at the bar while waiting, and even after the restaurant cleared out, no one came to offer us a table. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unresponsive, consistently telling us they were too busy whenever we tried to place a drink or food order. Upon further observation, it was clear that the front management had set the servers up for failure, which is inexcusable. While I understand that new openings can come with challenges, the issues at Schloss Fuschl go beyond typical growing pains. The service problems are severe enough to detract from the overall experience, making it difficult to enjoy the hotel’s otherwise outstanding location and decor. The Rosewood brand is known for its impeccable service, but unfortunately, this property falls short of that reputation. For travelers considering a stay here, I would recommend canceling your reservation if you are still within your cancellation window. Super friendly staff, great breakfast, wonderful wellness area with two saunas, steam room, swimming pool and a tea station. Little self-serviced convenience store by reception. A twenty minute drive to Salzburg. We really enjoyed our stay! Was an amazing wedding anniversary getaway!

A new fresh hotel. Great concept. Tasty food (dinner and breakfast). Great view over the lake from the room (6th floor - West side). Plenty of free parking spaces including a bunch of charging slots for electric cars. Motivated and exceptionally friendly staff. Quick Wi-Fi in all areas. I saw a LAN socket in the room (didn't try it though). Great gym. Sauna was open. Nearby tourist attractions are easily reached by car. We will definitely stay here again on future trips to Austria.
