I like the location. It's walking distance to UNESCO Georgetown. And there is a hawker center type food outlet just opposite with singers belting out Thai, mandarin and Cantonese numbers. Though it ends at 12 midnight. It's an old mansion converted into a boutique hotel. Not able to drop off at hotel, as gate is not opened. Reception is facing main door. Staffs are friendly and helpful. I stayed on the ground floor which is very convenient. The room is comfortable, though being an old mansion, the light switches are not the most convenient.There is no water kettle in room, hence a lounge that is opened 24 hours where there are hot water, drinks and snacks.. The sound insulation is not very good, can hear singing and noise from outdoor pool. Lucky not staying on 2nd floor as stairs is very narrow and tight. There is an outdoor pool which I did not manage to view.

It’s my jackpot day i guest. I got the cheapest price at Trip. Hotel was fabulous and staff all very friendly and nice. I love all bout this hotel. One of the luxury and historical hotel in Georgetown. Definitely will come back to stay at this hotel.

Stepping into The Edison felt like entering a beautifully preserved chapter of Penang’s colonial past. The mansion is full of character — elegant, tranquil, and tastefully restored. The location is superb, making it easy to explore George Town’s vibrant streets and hidden gems. While the breakfast could be improved in terms of variety and presentation, the overall ambiance, architecture, and hospitality made the stay truly memorable. A charming retreat for those who appreciate heritage with a touch of luxury.

Service took centre-stage, Albert and his team were genuinely interested to ensure you were well taken care of. Charming old-world building of 35 rooms across 2 levels (note: no lift); excellent location though live performances from neighbouring establishments ran late past midnight which could bother some (not us though). Room was a tad dusty but again not something which bothered us too much. Appreciated the 24h lounge area, and how quiet and cooling the building is inside despite noise/weather outside.

Great staff and really lovely hotel. if you're keen for something with some heritage but don't feel comfortable staying in a hotel that may give you the creeps, this hotel is perfect. heritage + some neo-modern decor. enjoyed it very much. breakfast was simple but sufficient. save your tummy for other yummy Penang food. only complain is that the wifi was extremely choppy even though it was full bars. the team did a restart but the same issue persisted. will come back for a stay.

Second stay of small luxury hotel and it make me want to stay more of a different small luxury hotel. The staff is so friendly and helpful while the room is big and wide as well. Not to mentioned they had lots of free snacks. So smackers this is a bonus !

Quaint and so lovely. Each staff was so diligent and helpful and always with a warm smile. Second level is accessible via stairs but they have ground floor rooms. Amenities include toiletries and there is no hot water for coffee/tea cos the lounge is equipped with snacks and hot/cold drinks. Food is so accessible everywhere else so there is a simple and sufficient continental brekkie, even scrambled eggs if you like, and small packs of nasi lemak. We have a lovely time. Thank you so much. Only feedback is to change to bigger refillable shower/shampoo bottles. Thanks so much team at the Edison! Thanks for taking care of us :)

This is my second time stay at The Edison. I love it so much. The room, facilities and especially the hospitality. It feels like staying at your own home. Will definitely repeat again.

Awesome experience from pre-arrival communications, arrival welcome and throughout the stay! This historical building is situated opposite Red Garden Food Paradise and near Cheong Fatt Tze, it is walking distance to most spots for new and seasoned Penang visitors. Albert the Manager and all the staff are ways friendly, attentive, accommodating and full of advice on where to explore and enjoy the Penang they love deeply. Any issues highlighted are quickly attended to. The rooms are on the first (Malaysia ground) and second floors. There are no lifts and no ramp anywhere. The steps to second floor retain the original design which is pretty steep and requires care when walking. Please request for the rooms in the lower floor of this is an issue. The room is spacious and basic amenities are in place. The bed and pillows are very comfortable! No tea making facilities in the room; there is a provided water jar and cups. Water can be refilled at the 24-hour "The Lounge", which I used a lot throughout the stay. Do note the ensuite bathroom area has a thick curtain as its door. So rooms might be more suitable for solo or couple travellers. The Lounge is open 24 hours and has coffee machine, soft drinks, fruit juices and local titbits. Breakfast, provided at The Lounge, is a continental set and sometimes a local breakfast item like Nasi Lemak will be available as well. The daily 6 to 7 pm complimentary cheese and wine hour is thoroughly enjoyable. A thoroughly enjoyable stay that I cna highly recommend!
