"I had a great stay at this hotel. Although the property is a bit old, everything was very clean and the service was excellent. The room was spacious, and I could see a beautiful sunset right from the window. The location is also very convenient, it’s easy to get anywhere from here. There’s even a night market just downstairs with lots of famous local food stalls. Overall, a very pleasant experience!"

"honest review from a budget conscious traveller: no frills hotel in superb location with helpful staff at a reasonable price point.
I stayed in a magenta room for 4 nights with no big issues. the room is not big for 2 persons, but sufficient for rest every night, and to open 2 cabin sized lugagge comfortably. the toilet is spacious enough as well.
cleanliness could be improved. the shower area could do with deeper cleaning in the corners, and the sheets some tiny stains (negligible though). the sofa also has some stains. if you are particular about cleanliness, perhaps looks elsewhere. the bed is reasonably comfortable, pillows are on the softer side. there is one bedside table with the telephone on it, and another small table that can be used at the sofa or at the bed. if you want more spacious table, the lobby has many tables you can use. windowsill seats are also available with charging outlets, making for a good workspace if you need.
toiletries were refilled everyday, as basic as amenities go. the towels were on the thinner side and there were no hand towels so take note, if you want to bring a small disposable one for your stay.
hotel staff was easy to talk to and ready to help whenever I asked. one time, I ordered grabfood in a hurry and forgot to ask for cutlery. thankfully, the front desk staff found some disposable spoons for me. genuine lifesaver. however, on one of the days, we wanted to rest in the afternoon and asked for our room to be cleaned earlier. the hotel seems to be understaffed and cleaning takes some time. we called at 3pm and was told the staff will come clean our room. there was no sign of anyone even until 4pm, at which point we called in again to remind them of our request. it took 30 more minutes and 2 more reminders, one of which was in person at the front desk, before the cleaning lady showed up around 430pm (after 4 calls). at this point, we were going out shortly after, and we felt robbed of afternoon rest. take note of this if you will be bothered by the cleaning time. we did come back on one day to see the cleaning staff in our aisle close to 6pm! it is likely they are understaffed. we also did not get an extra toilet roll on the last day, which was unnecessary effort to ensure we would have sufficient toilet paper until checkout, since we were exhausted from a day of exploring and did not want to go and ask for toilet paper.
this incident aside, we had an alright stay and would recommend this place to budget conscious travellers who are looking for a value stay. the location is really unbeatable, being walking distance to most places under 15minutes. with so much food to eat in penang, a post meal walk back to the hotel is always welcome
other notes: there is a self service laundry just next to the hotel, and a 24h convenience store just across the street. 7 eleven is around 5min walk away. atm that accepts internationals cards are available if you want to withdraw money, but these do charge a fee. fee free atm would be farther away. the hotel is also next to a mosque so we can hear prayers now and then, and early on Friday."

"The hotel looks a little old, but everything is really well maintained and clean. The facilities are great, especially the gym. It’s fully equipped with dumbbells, barbells and all kinds of machines for different workouts. There’s also a sauna, steam room and hot and cold jacuzzis, all in good working condition.
The location is perfect, right along Gurney Drive. Get a sea view room if you can because the view is amazing whether it’s sunrise or sunset. It’s also super convenient with Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon just a short walk away, and plenty of food options nearby. Taking a Grab to town takes only about 10 minutes.
Breakfast was really good too. There’s a wide mix of local and international dishes that change daily, plus an egg and roti canai station where you can order fresh.
Service was okay, though the staff weren’t as warm as I expected from a five star hotel. Overall, it was a comfortable stay in a great location with solid facilities and food."

Tucked right beside 1st Avenue Mall, JEN Penang nails the location game-smack in the heart of Georgetown with everything at your doorstep.
We booked the family room, which came with a comfy sofa bed, a bidet-equipped bathroom, and a bathtub for those post-walk wind-downs. The buffet breakfast? Generous and delicious. But what truly stood out was the service-warm, proactive, and personal.
They even WhatsApped us pre-check-in to see if we needed anything extra. And the cherry on top? A free late checkout at 2pm, no questions asked.

"Highly recommended — I had a very comfortable stay here. Although the room is on the smaller side, the interior design is of high quality and thoughtfully done.
As for the lift parking, while it’s slightly inconvenient, the wait time is short and overall it’s quite manageable."

"Fast check in process by Mr Saran. Easy parking access (no need to take any parking ticket. Receptionist will register your car plate number and you can enter and out from parking lot how many time you want). Requested birthday decorations and im so happy when i saw the decoration. It was so amazing! And we get small cake too! Thanks St Giles Wembley Penang for this hospitality!
Booked Premier King room. I was impressed by the cleanliness and comfort room. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable just the pillow is a bit hard for me. Nice view from the room. Quiet room.
Breakfast 9/10. Many varieties of food. Delicious! Especially the taufufa. I repeat 3 times 😊.
Gym is pretty nice and had adequate equipment. Pool view is Komtar 💜 Great location. Walking distance to 1st Avenue Mall, and most places.
Hope this hotel will maintain the services, and cleanliness for long time. Will certainly return to St Giles Wembley Hotel on my next visit to Penang."

"The hotel is located about 10–15 minutes away from the town. The surrounding area is rather quiet, with no eateries nearby, but there’s a cozy café at the lobby. Check-in was smooth and efficient, each guest even received a drink voucher, which can be redeemed for coffee, tea, or orange juice. The room itself is very spacious and comfortable. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. The shower area doesn’t have a door, so water tends to splash outside. The bathroom drainage is slightly clogged, and the bathroom door cannot be fully closed, which may feel a bit awkward if staying with friends. Lastly, the bed sheet had an unpleasant smell, which was quite disappointing. Overall, the stay was consider ok in terms of space and service, but cleanliness and bathroom maintenance could be better."

"The location of this hotel is superb. Most of the attractions places are within walking distance. With lots of eateries around.
However, the hotel may needs to improve on their amenities such as the towels provided, the air con and housekeeping. I am very suprise that I was provided with towels that are badly torn and on most days it the towels seems used and old.
The hair dryer given also has some electrical problem and was arching which was a bit dangerous. But the hotel staff manage to change it after verifying that the hair dryer given is indeed spoil.
Overall, the only plus point are staffs who are very friendly and try to make sure we are comfortable and the location of the hotel."

"The hotel is conveniently located and offers a pleasant stay. However, the centralized hot water supply can be improved, as I’ve occasionally experienced a lack of hot water. The fan is noisy and could benefit from some maintenance. On the positive side, the air conditioning works well, and the daily room cleaning is thorough. The bed is comfortable, and everything else is well-maintained. Parking is available but limited. The view from the hotel is truly breathtaking!"

There's an amazing variety of delicious food right on your doorstep: within a 500-meter radius, you'll find 12 Michelin-starred restaurants and 5 top-rated eateries, including a specialized durian shop, as well as many famous attractions.

GGuest UserLove how thoughtful the place was. Stayed in a queen bed private room, additional stuffs like a chair(you don't want to be lying on the bed when you're all drenched in sweat!), a dressing table and a dressing table chair, bathroom bag, bathroom slippers. (Refer to the photo attached)
Kudos to this place, one of the places that is ”what you see is what you get”!
Shared bathrooms were also cery clean n gendered
With washing machine and dryer available for guest use for free!
You could also iron at the washing machine area. Washing machine works perfect but dryer didn't really dry my clothes but its okay, hung it overnight with air conditioning and all good.
Even get to park my bicycle indoors and the front desk is 24H, suitable for people that checks in at odd hours! Water dispenser, fridge and microwave is also available at every floor!
Overall a very good experience! Would def come back again!

MMemedada3Facilities: The master bedroom was fine, but the bathroom sink was leaking and completely unusable. Since we arrived very late, we couldn't call anyone to fix it. The water temperature from the heater was unstable, even at its highest setting.
The elevator wait times were extremely long. We waited about 10 minutes to go up around 11 PM, and on checkout day, it took 30 minutes just to get an elevator.
Side bedroom: It was located near the hallway, and the lights were very bright at night. The sounds of people walking and talking felt like they were right next to you. In short, the side bedroom was uninhabitable. (Room 1906)
I'm not sure about the other rooms.

MM21987****The hotel's location is good, just a 5-minute walk from the jetty. It's situated in a relatively quiet alley, and most attractions within George Town are within walking distance. However, you'll need a taxi to get to Batu Ferringhi Beach, and taxis can be quite expensive at night. The hotel only provides two bottles of water daily, and if you need more, you have to buy it from outside. Convenience stores are closed when you return late, so I suggest the hotel provides one or two more bottles of water per day. The wet and dry separation in the bathroom only creates two distinct zones. The service was quite attentive, and issues were resolved promptly. The air conditioning was a bit noisy. Breakfast had limited variety, but the quality was decent.

CCHONG CHING3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion Georgetown
We booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival.
Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour.
On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time.
The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call.
At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left.
By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room.
At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room.
The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts.
So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with.
The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain.
Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself.
Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not your choice.

IIsabelleyishaThe hotel location is right on the hot spot of Georgetown. But it goes with noise at night until 2am. So if you plan to be partying at night it's ideal and walking distance to Love Lane and all Georgetown touristic areas.
But if you wish to sleep and relax after midnight definitely not the right hotel for you.
The room was OK in terms of size but a lot of mosquitoes coming from the bathroom drain. I've killed at least 50 of them thanks to a mosquito raquet 🤣 The tip is to close the bathroom curtains so they don't get in the bedroom.
Humidity in the room had the paint peeling off.
For the price I don't think the room quality was enough. Specially for the humidity and mosquitoes combination.
The breakfast menu was not available but you can easily go down the street and eat at ease or order with the application grab. No bar available in the hotel.
The shared areas are clean. Loved that you have to take off your shoes at the entrance.
There are stairs to get into the hotel but they help you with your luggage. The first time you arrive you need to ring the bell for them to come open for you. Small door not easy to spot at first. I suggest to the hotel to stick the name directly on the door at eye level and big to avoid confusion. I've uploaded a picture of the door for you to not get lost.
After you check in they will give you the door code so easy for you to get by.
Staff has been helpful when asked but not interacting or giving you suggestion or asking you how things are going.
I've rated cleanness average because there was a lot of hair in the bathroom when I arrived. Had to literally take it off during 5 minutes. Thick long hair... Not sure how they didn't spot it.
Apart of that they were cleaning all right the rest of the stay.
Internet was not easy to get when in the room but in common areas or close to the door of the room works better. Don't save on a sim card and buy at the airport for having internet at all times on your phone. Will help you with maps and outside anyway.
The taxi from the airport was very convenient only 30 minutes and I ordered with grab came within 5 minutes.
