Small, clean & characterful Parador with very friendly and helpful staff on the edge of a nice park, and a short 10min walk to the bay. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast (the churros were first class) in the dining room overlooking the park. Finding it was a little tricky.

Relaxing stay at a peaceful parador. We stayed for 3x nights with breakfast and were impressed at the cleanliness of the rooms, friendliness of staff and the individualised nature of the hotel. It was around 20-25 mins walk (through a park and then along the promenade) to the city proper.

We enjoyed our stay, the Parador is in a nice position, near to the beach but it was disappointing that the lake is empty and our views were of fencing. The car park is busy though not secure, plenty of locals use it as a shortcut from the park to the town. Our room was good, the staff friendly and helpful although rather rushed at breakfast times, it seemed they could do with more help. As with the other paradores we have used, precise driving directions would have been useful if sent with the booking confirmation. Non Spanish drivers need a little bit more help as the road are unfamiliar.

It looks like this hotel is part of the same group as parador the Limpias. The HVAC is off as well. Since the weather has changed for the better the room can be very warm. There is a working radiator in the bathroom. The windows cannot be opened at night for fresh air since there are no mosquitoscreens. Breakfast and dinner are good. The restaurant is understaffed. The staff works very hard. The parador is situated in a very nice park and near the footbalstadium. The staff is very friendy. The rooms are pleasant and spacious enough. Its a 10 minute walk to the Malecon and beach. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the old town. One can park for free on the premises. One can also take a bus to the old town. Line 1 and 4 stop near the hotel. You can pay with cash in the city bus. A one way fare is € 1,50. A pleasant and charming hotel.

Lovely, comfortable parador with historic interest.. Beautifully situated on the Isabel Catolica park. Wonderful grounds to explore. Excellent location for the sea front/ San Lorenzo beach. Staff are friendly and helpful.

The Parador is inside the Park of Isabel the Catholic. The windows in the restaurant look out over a lake filled with swans, ducks, and other birds. Many of the rooms overlook a courtyard with a beautiful tree whose leaves were rustled by a gentle breeze the whole time we were there. In short -- it's idyllic. The best part, however, are the staff. These are people who take pride in their work, smile genuine smiles, and do their best to make every day special for the guests.

Located bordering Parque De Isobel La Catolica, an easy ten minute level walk to the beautiful, clean beach Playa de San Lorenzo, and a further 20 minutes along the beach promenade to the old town & nearby shopping. Free parking. Adjacent to the city's main football stadium. We enjoyed the warm welcome & outstanding service from the reception team, and specifically Victoria (?) who was particularly helpful, suggesting excellent places to stop on our way to the next Parador. The communal areas were clean & attractive, if a little dark & tired. The restaurant was more rustic than other paradors we have stayed in along the green route this last week, but the food was excellent. Unfortunately the room let this parador down. Accessed via an increasingly dark (the PIR sensor was faulty) & narrow corridor, the room was spotlessly clean with comfy (twin) beds, but tired, dated & slightly tatty. The bathroom was dimly lit, the shower over the bath was awkward to use & challenging to get into & out of safely. The safe didn't work. Gijon is an exception to the usual high standards we have come to enjoy with the Parador hotels, and we are looking forward to the next stop on the Route Verde.

We stayed just one night in this Parador. Very clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Blackout shutters and no noise allowed for a wonderfully peaceful night’s sleep. Front staff offered us a friendly welcome. We would agree with other reviewers that the other services are undermanned. The waitresses are very pleasant and do their best to please but they are constantly rushing around, serving food, changing table settings etc. The lady in the bar was so busy she forgot to bring us our drinks. For the evening meal, we ate the asparagus starter which was fine. The sea bass was good too, though the creamy rice chicken dish is not recommended (though this is a matter of choice). The desserts (apple pancakes and almond cake with ice cream) were fine. Morning breakfast is copious with the usual range of cold meats, fruit and juices as well as hot choices (fried eggs, bacon, chorizo, churros etc). Again the waitress literally runs around to serve her guests. The breakfasts, in all our paradors, have been great. Parking is tight in the hotel grounds though there is parking outside in the stadium car park.
