Les Jardins d'Epicure

This is THE WORST hotel of my travel life. I’ve been to 33 countries and slept in rooms with lead paint and ceiling falling on me, and started out in very rough hostels - but this was the worst. On arrival I was continuously offended. I was so unwelcome. My French is passable, but it didn’t matter. I am trying to understand why the lady was so hostile. I really urge you to look elsewhere. Don’t go.

We had booked this hotel as a an end to our holiday in France. The check in was the most unwelcoming I’ve ever had, no information about the hotel was given, the restaurant, spa and bar was closed. Our room was in a converted stable block, it was dark and dusty. There was a voss mineral water bottle in the room the seal was broken and the bottle top was dirty, this had clearly been refilled with tap water. We were told if we took the bottle from the room we would be charged €30!!! I didn’t even want to drink from that dirty bottle!! Mid afternoon the gardener started to burn laurel leaves, which smoked out the garden and our room. This smoky fire went on all night and in the morning we had puffy eyes and coughs from the smoke in our room. At this point we wanted to check out and cancel our 2nd night. The people who run this hotel seem to have little concern for their guests in our opinion. The lady on checkout was much more helpful and understood how bad our experience had been. She reduced the room rate and checked us out with an apology. Never again, despite its looks, it felt pretentious and unwelcoming.

And with its close proximity to Giverny, art and history enthusiasts will find it a convenient base to explore the erstwhile home of the famed artist, Claude Monet. Yet, what truly sets Les Jardins d'Épicure apart is not just its surroundings, but the impeccable attention to detail within its walls. The establishment is a masterclass in harmonizing luxury with coziness. Each room has been thoughtfully designed, offering both comfort and elegance in equal measure. But no review of Les Jardins d'Épicure would be complete without a nod to its heart and soul – the wonderful staff. Their genuine warmth, combined with an unmatched professionalism, ensures that every guest feels right at home. They are ever-present, yet unobtrusive, always ready to assist and enhance your stay.

You have to be very comfortable with whomever you are travelling with because in our room there was no bathroom door! There are two doors that let you IN the room but there is no door for the bathroom (we were in the main building). The room was dusty and on a hot summer day there was no way to cool the room except for a fan/heater which had lots of greasy finger prints on it. There was dust on the tables. The plus is that as it got cooler during the night, being on the top floor was helpful with the windows and curtains open and no one was able to look into the room. The shower was good. The restaurant had limited menu so we didn't eat there. Parking was free which was useful. There is no fridge or mini bar.

We stayed one night in villa Florentine. The building is old and has an interesting history. The rooms look like they have been renovated quite recently. The river that runs through the grounds is very picturesque and was a nice place to cool down after our long bicycle ride on Avenue Verte during the heatwave. The only problem was the food or rather the lack of it - the village/town was deserted, and the hotel's restaurant closed during our stay (Mondays and Tuesdays). For those arriving by car it's probably less of a problem but if you just cycled 60km in a 34C heat, the last thing you want is add another 20km in search for something to eat. There were other quirks like wifi access for guests was limited to 24hrs.

Venu ici pour faire escale lors d’un passage à Giverny. La chambre dorée était très agréable. Nous avons apprécié la literie. Cadre très jolie qui fait rêver. Restaurant délicieux et très beau. Personnel agréable. Merci à la jeune femme de la réception pour son amabilité et son sourire. Nous reviendrons ultérieurement. Très bon séjour pour nous.

Nous avons passé un court séjour , dans le cadre du forfait Madame le jeudi , au domaine des jardins d'Epicure ..Et en revenons enchantés. D'abord parce que le cadre est enchanteur , niché dans la verdure , la rivière Epte qui coule en contrebas .Le domaine est historique , calme , apaisant . Y flâner est essentiel . Après avoir été accueilli chaleureusement , nous avons logé dans l'élégante suite Marquise , décoré avec goût, avec jacuzzi , de beaux volumes ,une literie impeccable Le lieu est joliment décoré que ce soit à la réception, la salle du petit déjeuner .. Nous avons diné au restaurant , dans une ambiance feutrée , et avons dégusté les menus épicuriens.. 2 entrées , 2 plats et toute une ribambelle de découvertes , de mariage de saveurs , des mets simples et raffinés , un régal . Le service est d'un grand professionnalisme et le personnel souriant ce qui ne gâche rien. Le petit déjeuner était copieux , juste prévoir plus d'œufs brouillés (clin d'œil) Rapport qualité prix de ce séjour imbattable Bref , une joli parenthèse , nous y retournerons avec plaisir et nous vous le recommandons !

Très déçu après avoir testé chambre et déjeuner. Le lieu est superbe, mais le service est celui d’une auberge de jeunesse, pire car la réception nous prend de haut. Quant au déjeuner, une vraie caméra cachée. Plus jamais, c’est bien dommage.

Service client catastrophique. J'ai appelé ce jour, et pour la troisième fois maintenant en une semaine car il était convenu que la direction reviendrait vers moi, concernant une demande spéciale quant à une potentielle réservation. J'ai donc dû rappeler deux fois, dont une ce jour, et j'ai été très mal reçu par une jeune femme au téléphone qui n'a cesse de répéter des conditions que je connais, puisque je suis moi même dans l'hôtellerie. Aucune écoute n'a été faite quant à ma demande, et aucune remise en question de la frustration du client par la réceptionniste ce jour. "Calmez-vous" que l'on me dit. C'est inacceptable pour un hôtel, et encore moins 3 étoiles, de répondre de cette manière à un client qui, de plus, effectue une relance suite à votre inaction. En bref, passez votre chemin pour d'éventuelles réservations dans la région.
