Booked 13 nights for a business trip. Noticed swollen bites between my 8th and 10th nights, and was able to find and film bed bugs on the bed. Went to manager, showed him the bites and the video. Mike Patel is his name. With no apologies, just asked my room number and informed me they didn’t have any clean king rooms that morning. I said I did not need a king room, just a CLEAN room. Got moved to second floor and he proceeded to tell me that their protocol is to refund only 3 nights. I called Hilton, the rep said to send pictures to their email. I did so and waited 24 hrs. At the lack of replies, the company is was working for in town, called Hilton the second day and was told they would check back with the Hotel. That afternoon received an email from Hilton, that I did not need to pursue reporting the issue to the health dept and that the hotel would take care of it. Due to this, my boss called the manager directly and demanded full refund as it was clear at this time that Hilton was avoiding to do so and to take responsibility to report the unsanitary rooms. Mike Patel refused to comply with full refund, alleging I did not report the bites the first day I noticed one. He also implied to my boss I had brought the bed bugs to Hampton. Needless to say, I left work, picked up my belongings, had very strong words I should have spoke to Mike Patel the very first day, got my full refund in return to my words, and left that place NEVER TO RETURN. Beware! I cannot express this enough: Mike Patel is worse that the bed bugs he has in his hotel, and believe me, they were nasty but he is by far more disgusting. Elkhart Health Dept has been notified and Hilton Management as well. No hopes on resolution from Hilton but expecting Elkhart Health Dept to step in.
