Explore Munising Alger Falls

We booked two nights at Explorer Munising, and after reading some of the reviews, it made me a little worried of how our stay would end. But this place is absolutely AMAZING! THE LOCATION IS 10/10 the property is absolutely beautiful! To the people who say there isn’t instructions for check-in, they make the door access extremely easy, you don’t park across the street from the cabin. It’s literally 10 feet from your front door where you park. When people say it’s unsafe I’m assuming they’re new to visiting Michigan’s upper Peninsula, because no matter where you go it’s an adventure and there’s always a risk with that adventure! The kitchen inside of the cabins had everything you need for a stay. It has a mini fridge, a microwave and a coffee machine and a combo washer/dryer. Theres a small couch, a chair table and a large counter space for food, anything. Noise from the road? NONE from inside the cabins - yes you hear it if you’re sitting outside but WHO CARES! The smokeless fire pits outside of the cabins are not too close, you just do not stuff them like you do in your backyard (the fire to end our night was honestly so relaxing and the sky almost looked fake) The cleaning fee is absolutely affordable and completely understanding, you’re not walking into a hotel you’re walking into your own private place. You treat him like you’re home. You take your trash out when you leave and you lock the door. Don’t be lazy, these places don’t last when you have negative reviews!

This was a last minute weekend in Oct stay! I am so glad we found EXPLORE and they had availability!! We stayed in a studio cabin. We did not use any of the provided appliances so I cannot comment on those. Place was clean! Comfortable! Shower was perfect after a long day or two of hikes! There are a couple of trails on property which came in handy after our long drive up first day ! Will stay here again !!!!

Long weekend trip We went up to see the pictured rocks and this looked like a great place to stay, which it was. The cabin was very clean and had great amenities. It was easy to find, and communication with them was excellent. The beds were a little hard, but not so much that it stopped us from getting good rest from all the hiking we did! The firepit and short trail to a secluded waterfall was an awesome perk!

Pros: Availability, when nothing else was available in the area. Washer/dryer. Kitchen area. Sitting area. Modern and clean. Cons: Extremely expensive rate and a Very high cleaning fee. Access to front door of cabin was a little steep hill which made it awkward to carry luggage and belongings in and out. It had a 10:00 a.m. checkout which is earlier than other places we have stayed on our trips.

Very nice Loved the place. Had a few issues, but wouldnt prevent me from coming back in the future. Bed is comfortable, great location, nice amenities.

This stay was a disaster. The map pin is completely wrong — the cabin is 3.5 miles from Munising, not on the water, and not even in city limits. It sits on a busy highway with constant semi-truck traffic and engine braking, making it impossible to sleep. A white noise machine was provided but not shown in listing photos — clearly meant to hide how loud it is. The so-called “mini kitchen” had no stove or oven, just a microwave, mini-fridge, and a sink too small to wash a plate. We brought groceries we couldn’t use. The “lanai” is just a concrete step with two chairs. The listing also claimed there was a fire extinguisher — there wasn’t — even though there’s a fire pit right outside. Serious safety issue. Hot water lasted 8 minutes, then needed 30 minutes to reheat. The cabin “sleeps 4” but came with just 2 plates and 2 bowls, and the dishes were dirty. No check-in info, no on-site staff, and a $100 cleaning fee for what turned out to be a VRBO rental disguised as a hotel on *******. I contacted the host and received no response for over a day. Absolutely would not stay here again.

It was very clean and cute. The property is great - conveniently located minutes from Munising and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore even has a couple of its own hiking trails on site. Stoves for your own personal campfire are a bonus!!

Very noisy, right next to a busy main road. Not a lot of privacy. The cabins are very clean and i loved the outside light that came in through the upper windows. There was no freezer so I didn’t have a freezer pack for my cooler.
