Hotel berhampiran Bastionsanlagen, Graz

Pictures can be deceiving!!! Had a huge suite but furnishings were blah and too few--sitting room needed another chair, sofa couch had cushions that wouldn't remain in place, bedroom needed a vanity or dresser (had to keep our clothes in the suitcases , bed was way too low (tough to get into and out of) and an end table(s) with lamp(s) would have been helpful. Difficult to control temperature in the room as well--was always too warm! Breakfast the first morning was a disaster---arrived 30 minutes before buffet was to be shut down and at least half the food was empty or had very little left with most having been picked over! No scrambled eggs or bacon, two of the fruit bowls were empty, most of the breads and pastries were gone.... staff seemed put out when we asked for most to be refreshed!!! And the price of the room was not cheap!!! Yes we were disappointed having expected more!

Check-In Zeit wird als 13:00-20:00 angegeben. Tatsächlich konnte das Zimmer erst kurz vor 18:00 bezogen werden. Das lag nicht an der Reinigungsequippe sondern an Rezeption/Management, die dem früheren Gast die Belegung des Zimmers bis 17 Uhr erlaubt hatte (statt nur bis 12 Uhr). Der Wunsch des bisherigen Gastes ging also zu Lasten des neuen Gastes. Die Begrüssungsgespräche um 13:45, 17:25 und 17:50 sind entsprechend etwas gespannt; ein freundliches, warmes ”Willkommen” ist anders. Beim Auschecken wird noch eine Taxe fällig, obwohl die Rechnung ja schon beim Buchen belastet wurde. Das hätte man auf der Reservationsbestätigung oder sonstwo oder allerspätestens beim Einchecken erwähnen können. So ergibt sich beim Verabschieden eine unangenehme Situation in Form einer Diskussion mit einem trägen, brummligen, offenbar sich gestört fühlenden Rezeptionisten. Die Auststattung des Zimmers ist voll in Ordnung: Wenn die Badewanne als Dusche zu verwenden ist, wäre ein robuster Haltegriff für die Sicherheit beim (glitschigen) Aussteigen von Vorteil. Zur Lage: in Fussdistanz zum Bahnhof, gut erreichbar mit Tram, nicht allzuweit vom Zentrum, entsprechend etwas (aber nicht wirklich viel) Strassenlärm bis 24 Uhr und ab 5:30.

I do not recommend staying at the B&B Hotel - Graz Hbf -- details are below, but to sum it up, the condition of the hotel room was not appropriate for guests and we should not have been booked, and nothing was done to resolve the horrible smell in the room. My family and I booked two rooms for a weekend in July to stay in Graz to attend the Austrian Grand Prix, and have a hotel in close proximity to the train station. Because there were 4 people in our group, we needed to book two rooms. We were traveling with our young children so we requested rooms near to each other and were assigned rooms next door to each other. The smell and odor in one of the rooms that I was staying in with one of my children was horrible. It was coming from the shower drain, like something was rotting or clogged in there. It smelled as though someone vomited or put something decaying in the shower drain, along with cigarette smoke. It made the entire room smell disgusting. I spoke to the front desk attendant on Saturday morning and was told housekeeping would attend to it immediately. When we returned Saturday evening after being away all day, the smell was still overpowering. I was told the hotel was full and nothing could be done for us. I had the nighttime desk attendant come up to smell the room. I again spoke to the front desk attendant on Sunday morning and was told the room had been checked but nothing could be done. I asked her to please go into the room to understand the terrible smell and to move our room for Sunday night. We were moved to another room that evening since there were rooms available then. Even though it was not very warm outside, both rooms were also very warm, the air conditioning not appearing to be working. The windows did not have screens on them, so if we opened them to try to cool off the rooms (and also to air out the smell in the one room), the room would fill with moths. The condition of the one room was not appropriate for a guest to stay in, and it was an even bigger problem that no one could do anything to fix it. The multiple people at the hotel desk that we spoke with said nothing could be done because it was a weekend and the hotel was full on the Saturday evening. We were unable to sleep because the rooms were so warm and the smell in the one room made us feel ill. They could not provide a cot or roll-away so that all of us could stay in one room instead. I was later told by the hotel management: ”On Saturday morning the room was immediately checked after you spoke with the front deck, and the shower drain was opened and deeply cleaned. We just found out later that it didn't help, as it should, because a brand new part of the drain was needed.” Clearly from this message, there was a serious issue with the plumbing in the room. The condition of the room was not appropriate for guests to stay in it, and we should not have been placed there. This hotel wonderfully echoes Graz’s own character. Contemporary style mixed with a heritage architectural past. Like the dramatic modern paintings that adron white walls; chic sculptures decorating the courtyard, and the red bull influenced F1 artifacts in the lobby LOCATION: Lovely location in the fringes of old town, and easy access to all key points of interest DINE + DRINK: Cool lobby level cafe and bar. Didnt try their restaurant to comment on. ROOM: We stayed in 201, so this review is based on that; The room is more of a mini suite that is fit enough even for long term residence with a Kitchenette, Microwave and a reasonable big refrigerator compared to what you might find in a normal hotel room; VIEW:Sweet view of the streets ; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Nice spa quality cosmetics by HERBAL TREATS brand FACILITIES: Compact Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines. Small but cool indoor swimming pool SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. The hotel is brand new, opened in June this year. Our room was small but very nicely designed. It smelt good as we entered. With its wooden floors and furniture, it had a strong Scandinavian feel to it. Everything is new, sleek and modern. We slept very well and, given its location on a busy street and across from the railway station, remarkably quiet. The whole hotel is an oasis of calm. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. Unfortunately though, our experience at this otherwise excellent hotel was affected by our first few minutes there. We didn’t receive the best welcome: the receptionist was fully focused on someone behind us making a phone call rather than on what we were saying. She did not take any notice of us at all. We were already a little annoyed that the room we had booked the night before was, when we checked the room facilities online, cheaper on the day we checked in. When I asked her whether I could pay immediately rather than in the morning, as we wanted to get away early, she said yes, but it would “take a while”. It wasn’t until later that I realised I had no evidence that I’d paid, so had to ask her for a receipt. She didn’t give us any information about breakfast times, WiFi codes etc but I found that information on the tv screen in our room. Not too professional. Her colleagues on reception when we checked out were super professional and friendly though. First impressions count and if our first impressions had been better, I would have been more than happy to give this hotel the highest rating. We would still happily return though.

Stayed two nights. Ideal location opposite the main station. The restaurant doesn't operate so we couldn't get a meal but they offer breakfast. Nice and clean with good rooms with air conditioning. Would stay thereagain.

Plus points - the location is good and the rooms are a decent size with decent facilities Minus points - the staff friendliness was a bit hit and miss - some where great, some not so helpful. The room service was a bit patchy - one day no towels, another day tea and coffee not replenished. The parking was also not ideal - I booked this hotel because it had hotel parking. I arrived around 10pm and was told the car park was full and I'd have to find somewhere to park myself either on the road outside or search the internet for a car park close by! Not really what I wanted to hear having travelled for around 12 hours - fortunately there was one remaining space fairly close which was a relief. We were lucky for the remainder of our stay that we managed to get a space in the undeground car park. If you do get a space the car park is really good - well lit, modern and easy to park with good room for each parking space. Overall our stay was ok.

The staff at this hotel is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the location is not far from the old town area. It's a great choice for staying in Graz! In addition, the breakfast ingredients are carefully selected and worth trying!

The hotel looks new. Designed in minimalist way, cutting down costs while serving the essentials. A hostel, effectively. Located over 15 minutes away by car from the city centre, the hotel offers free carpark to attract residents. Public transport is less reliable. Breakfast is cheap (€10.5), choice is understandably little. In short, it is quiet, clean and simple.

This hotel is easy to get to and it only 10 mins drive to the airport. There is parking around the hotel and I was charged €8 to park overnight. I didn’t see any options for a hotel bus shuttle and in a previous stay I paid €20 for a taxi to/from the hotel My room was quite big with lots of room. The room looks updated and modern and there was a comfortable king bed, flat screen TV (hardly any English speaking channels) work table, lounge chair and side table to relax in. The room had air conditioning with an old thermostat, you could hear the air conditioning running but even if it was on for a long time I didn’t feel the room getting any cooler. In fact I had to open the window in the evening to cool the room down, I was facing the busy motorway so there was a lot of road noise from the open window. The bathroom was a good size, with room to put toiletries at the sink and a good shower Wifi was available throughout the hotel and worked fine. The hotel does have a fitness room but I didn’t use it. The hotel does have a small mini market at reception that you can buy snacks. There is a bar and restaurant at the hotel I only stayed one night and the restaurant was only doing a buffet dinner at that time. I arrived to eat barely 20 minutes after the restaurant opened, but the food presented looked and tasted as if it had been sitting out for hours. The pork dish was oily, overcooked and chewy, the chips were a mixture of undercooked and overcooked and barely warm, the bread felt and tasted a couple of days old, the pasta was stodgy and the sauce was congealed. The salad, fruit and dessert options were fresh, but the selection was small. For the price of €20 I was disappointed I also had breakfast the next morning, it was €16, and again the food wasn’t that tasty and there was a limited selection Overall this hotel is clean comfortable hotel if you are staying before a flight, and I would stay here again, although I would be eating elsewhere
