AmericInn by Wyndham Grimes

We stopped at the AmericInn in Grimes, near Des Moines on our way through Iowa. Keeping in mind that this is a budget hotel, we were extremely satisfied with the stop. The property could use a little updating, but was clean and orderly. The staff was very polite and responsive, the breakfast decent, and the room was clean, comfortable, and above all, quiet. Comfortable bed, and no road noise or other noise of any kind. The neighborhood it was in was decent - the hotel is tucked away in a newer development. This is a solid choice for someone looking for a good night's sleep at a budget hotel. They do need to look after the weeds in their parking lot - that gave us pause when we pulled in, but everything else was above expectations.

I'm doing work in Dallas center, this motel is close for me and very easy to book rooms and check In is a breeze too. The pool and the hot tub are amazing and the room is clean with comfortable beds and great pillows, and the showers have amazing water pressure

Clean rooms and friendly staff! We arrived very late due to travel delays but staff was very responsive and helpful. We originally booked for 3 nights but they allowed a refund for our last night due to unforeseen circumstances. Hotel is close to ballpark and provides a good continental breakfast for families

When we arrived at the AmericInn in Grimes, Iowa, the desk person informed us that the second floor, where the room were going to stay in had a ball team of young men and was noisy. He told us that he could put on the far end of the first floor in a room that would be quiet. We agreed to that. However, the room was in such poor shape that it should not have been rented to anyone. Here are the issues we saw and photographed. 1. The entrance door was misaligned, and you could see into the hallway. 2. The peephole in the door had been removed and Kleenex stuffed into it. 3. The bathroom sink drain was corroded and missing the stopper. 4. The bathroom hairdryer had a human hair hanging on it. 5. The shower curtain seemed to have mildew or black mold on it. 6. The bathtub was grubby, and the stopper was sitting upside-down in the drain. 7. The toilet had water leaking around it, the whole area was grubby, and seemed to have black mold. 8. The bathroom vent was all rusty. 9. The bathroom door frame was rusty. 10. The bathroom door handle was broken. 11. The desk chair was broken. 12. The cabinet containing the refrigerator had been rotted out from previous leakage. We could not believe that AmericInn would let one of their locations try to rent out a room like that. We contacted AmericInn, they contacted the manager of that location, he lied to them saying that he informed us that the room had not been updated. AmericInn said that they would have their field team look into, but they have never followed-up with us as to what was concluded. We've been going to AmericInn hotels for many years and never seen a bad room or made any complaints. We're disappointed in AmericInn's response and may never use them again.

We had to cancel a room on short notice due to a medical emergency. We had two rooms with his absence we only needed one. The front desk was very helpful during this process. We were able to get in to one room and enjoy the rest of the weekend with our family.

We enjoyed our stay. Check in was seamless and the overall, assessment of the hotel was excellent. Kids had a blast in the pool and hot tub! Close to a lot of options for dining or carry out. Highly recommended if you are passing through grimes, Iowa.

Was a nice motel for the price; pool and hot tub were excellent. The vending machines did not work, but didn't affect my stay. The check in process was great, and check out as well- Very friendly staff.

The room, common areas and pool were all spotless. Everything in the room worked--TV, air conditioner, plumbing, refrigerator and the microwave. The staff were polite and very helpful. The pool was great. Breakfast was more than adequate. We visit family in Grimes and we will stay here on our next visit.

Rooms were very expensive for the quality of experience. Charged a lot more for 2 children. Rooms were mildewy smelling and the customer service & breakfast was sub par. Rude worker at check-in, given no choice but to pay a lot for the reservation and could not cancel. Worker helped our family with earbuds in their ears and was not kind. Parts of the hotel really needed a good scrubbing and updating/fixing.
