Disappointing Stay at Echarm Hotel( Nanzhou Subway Station Pazhou International Convention and Exhibition Center Branch)
I recently had the misfortune of staying at Echarm Hotel(Nanzhou) for 6 nights, from 12/03/2025 to 18/03/2025. Despite my initial excitement to explore the city, my experience at the hotel was marred by a series of issues that left a sour taste in my mouth.
*Check-In Chaos: Lift Out of Order*
My stay got off to a rocky start when I arrived at the hotel to find that the lift was out of order. The staff informed me that it would be down for maintenance. I had to lug my heavy luggage up the stairs, which was a real challenge. The staff did offer to help, and I appreciated their effort. However, it was not a great start to my stay.
*Air Conditioning Issues: A Never-Ending Nightmare*
The first issue we encountered was the lack of air conditioning in our room. Our room was consistently at 30°C throughout the night, making it unbearable. When we repeatedly feedback, the hotel claimed that the air conditioning was not necessary due to the cold weather, as long we open window. They took no action until the 3rd day, when they offered to change our room.
Before changing rooms, the staff brought us to the new room and showed us that the air conditioning was working, with the temperature displayed at 23°C. However, when we actually stayed in the room, the temperature remained at 28°C throughout the night, and we had to open the door at 7am to let in the cold air.
*Technician's Visit: A Temporary Fix*
On the 5th night of our stay, we went to front desk requested to talk to hotel management about it, follow on a technician visited our room to investigate the air conditioning issue. Miraculously, we started to feel a bit of coldness in the room, and the technician told us that everything was okay. However, this was just a temporary fix, and the air conditioning soon reverted to blowing hot air again. It was clear that the technician had manipulated the system to make it seem like the issue was resolved, but in reality, the problem persisted.
*Poor Breakfast Options: A Lackluster Spread*
The daily breakfast was another major letdown. The food was oily, and the same dishes were served every day. The buns were mostly flour and air, with very little meat. It was clear that the hotel was not making an effort to provide a decent breakfast spread.
*Uncomfortable Bed and Pillows: A Sleepless Night*
The bed and pillows were soft and uncomfortable. When we requested extra pillows, the hotel claimed they didn't have any and provided us with towels instead. It was a pathetic attempt to address our concerns.
*Unprofessional Management: A Lack of Accountability*
When we brought up our issues with the management, they were unhelpful and dishonest. They claimed that the air conditioning was always on, but we have photos showing that the temperature dropped to 23-26°C when we opened the door.
*Compensation: Too Little, Too Late*
On our checkout day, the hotel offered us a compensation of 200 RMB. However, we were rushing to the airport and didn't have time to negotiate. We told them that they should have solved the problem earlier, rather than offering compensation after our 6-night suffering. It was a clear attempt to placate us, but it was too little, too late.
*Platform Refund: A Small Victory*
After our stay, we contacted the booking platform and reported the issues we faced. To our surprise, the platform refunded us the 200 RMB that the hotel had offered as compensation. This was a small victory, but it didn't make up for the subpar experience we had at the hotel.
*Conclusion*
Overall, my stay at Echarm Hotel(Nanzhou) was a disaster. The hotel's lack of attention to our issues, poor breakfast options, uncomfortable bed and pillows, and unprofessional management made for a stay that was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
Price: SGD 95 per night (not worth it)
I would not recommend Echarm Hotel(Nanzhou) to anyone!
