We had an excellent stay, we were stopping over for 2 nights before our flight home after holidaying. A warm welcome from reception as we checked in. It made me laugh when the receptionist gave us a map with direction to our room. She explained it very well and after a bit of a walk we found our room. We had arrived just in time for last orders for food, se we dropped bags and made our way back to the bar. The bar staff were extremely helpful as he read out the menu as I had left my glasses in room. We had simple burgers and a few pints but the quality was good and service quick and friendly. Our room was clean and to a high standard. The bathroom was spotless and plenty of towels. My only criticism was the room was slightly chilly and I didn't wont to put the a/c on. Breakfast is a buffet and full of choice for all with fresh hot and cold options. The breakfast staff were so friendly taking time out to chat. Good quality and very tasty. Our second night we ate in the main restaurant which was fantastic. My mates scallops were second to none. Very very good. I had the baked cheese which was beautifu with warm toasted bread on the side. Mains was a fillet steak with morel mushrooms a special after valentines. The meat melted in your mouth, best fillet ever tasted. My main was the apple wood pork steak. This was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted, the meat was so tender and the flavour superb. Our deserts were the fruit crumble and the Yorkshire rhubarb and custard. What a nice end to a very enjoyable meal. Compliments again to the chefs. This was one of the best meals I have eaten in years and I have had a few. I am a qualified chef so I no what I'm taking about....... In the afternoon we used the pool and facilities, the staff down there were welcoming and helpful for our fist time visit. The pool was busy with children as it was half term but it wasn't a problem. All the staff were friendly and helpful, well done to all and thankyou for a great stay. We are coming back again in May so see you then.
