The Old School House

Ian and Kate are amazing hosts. Once you stay here, you wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. My Son and I had a 2 night stay, we stayed in the twin room, single beds 4foot wide, so comfortable, and lovely warm bedding. The tea and coffee facilities were great, a table top fridge with fresh milk, a large bottle of chilled water, and home made cookies on arrival. Ensuite was great, plenty of towels and face cloths to use, and a stand for your towels, lots of cupboard space too. Absolutely immaculate. The guest lounge was fantastic, comfy settees with blankets available, lots of books to read, games for kids, and sky TV. Breakfast, again fantastic, fresh fruit, home made granola, Greek yogurt, other yogurts, boxed cereals all available before your cooked breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend staying in this B&B to anyone, 5* I couldn't fault anything. Thank you Ian and Kate

This was the last of 8 accommodations we stayed in at the end of our touring holiday. We stayed 2 nights. I can honestly say that it was amazing and smashed our other locations by miles. Amazing hosts, a fabulous breakfast, super beds and a sparkling bathroom full of good quality products to shower with. Homemade cake on arrival, what more can you ask for. Great location for walking and cycling. Easy to walk to pubs in the village for evening meals. A supermarket 3 minutes away if you want to stock up. Really recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

So many nice touches! Comfy bed and pillows, a breakfast that cannot be beaten, and brownies! Ian and Kate excel in providing a great, friendly place to stay. Plus, proximity to town allows for a nice walkabout. I highly recommend this property.

Absolutely fantastic place we stayed for one night at during our Hadrians Wall hike. Ian and Kate couldn’t have been more helpful, giving us an early breakfast, a packed lunch and driving us back to where we wanted to rejoin the path. Lovely people and a fabulous place to stay. Very highly recommended

My husband and daughter have just returned from Hadrians Wall. They had nothing but excellent thoughts about The Old Schoolhouse. Breakfasts were excellent and the owners wonderful. The owner offered to take them to the wall and ferried guests

Its the second time my wife and I have visited this B & B and it didn't disappoint. It was spotless We can not speak highly enough of our Hosts Ian and Kate who went out of their way in providing an exceptional Quality of service. Our room (P5) was well equipped with arrangements of tea and coffee with biscuits and a home made piece of cake each. Breakfast was plentiful with a cooked breakfast (black pud. & haggis if you wanted) smoked salmon etc. This set us up until the evening. We decided to have a fish n chip takeaway from Oceans fish shop, a short walk from the b & b. Kate prepared a place in the dining area with the tools and sauces etc. We made the mistake of having the large fish which we both could not finish so stick to the small fish! its adequate. There is a Sainsbury's super market 2 min walk from the b & b plus a fishmonger in the market square called 'Billy Bell' We purchased some Manx kippers, pies and fruit and veg. (we collected from the shop on our way back home). Pubs:- there is the Black Bull very quaint, and the Manor House Inn which we found a little expensive for food. Plenty of walks (Hadrian's wall and Sites well worth a visit) All in All our short stay for 2 nights was good value for the money we paid. Kate give us some pain au chocolat and croissants to help us on our journey. We shall be back
