First impressions were not good- we arrived early and rang a phone number on the door, where we were told to return at check in time. On our return, the first thing said was “Have you driven? You’ll have to move your car and that will cost £3 a night” We were asked to pay upfront for the room and when we entered, the bed looked like someone had slept in it. I pulled back the lumpy duvet and saw that the sheets didn’t fit on the top or bottom and the duvet didn’t fit the cover. We returned to reception and politely asked for the bed to be changed or an alternative room to be given. We gave them half an hour to sort something and, on our return, were offered another room. This room was much smaller and had a double bed. On checking previous reviews and photos, we were surprised to read that there was a four poster bed in the room (there was not) and a working luxury jacuzzi bath (this did not work at all). The bathroom was spacious and full of character, but the toilet scared the life out of us every time it was flushed as it was a Maserating/Sanex toilet and made an horrific noise! Also, our room and bathroom fronted the cobbled street and the windows had absolutely no privacy from the accommodation across the narrow street, which meant we had to use the bathroom with the curtains closed and also keep the curtains closed when dressing or sitting in bed. The plusses for this property were the proximity to all the quaint attractions in Haworth and to an extremely good pub nearby, which served amazing food. Breakfast redeemed our stay. The service, food choices and conversation finally made us feel that we were welcome there.
