Hotel berhampiran Halde Hoppenbruch, Herten

Wir kommen mehrmals im Jahr in dieses Hotel. Hier kann nur die volle Punktzahl gegeben werden. Das Hotel ist schön eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Das Frühstück- nebst Personal- ist wirklich hervorragend. Überhaupt ist das gesamte Personal super freundlich und sehr kompetent. Wir werden gerne wieder kommen. Dankeschön!

Viel Schatten, wenig Licht es gibt in diesem Hotel zwei verschiedene Kategorien: Standard und Superior wir hatten Superior gebucht. Am Samstag bei Anreise wurden wir sofort gebeten, die Zimmerrechnung zu bezahlen. Das ist ungewöhnlich, aber ok. Als wir dann das Zimmer betraten, stellen wir fest, dass wir eine falsche Kategorie bekommen hatten. Also zurück zur Rezeption. Die junge Dame war völlig überfordert und bestätigte, dass wir ein Standardzimmer bekommen hatten und kein Superior. Sie holte sich Hilfe bei Herrn F. Welche Funktion er hat, wissen wir nicht. er hat sich nicht vorgestellt. Allerdings schaute er in den Computer und sagte, dass er jetzt am Samstag Abend nichts mehr tun könne, das Hotel sei ausgebucht. Als Kompensation und Entschädigung würde er uns für den folgenden Morgen zum Frühstück einladen, und ein Zimmerwechsel am nächsten Tag. Mehr könne er für uns nicht tun. Damit war das Gespräch für ihn beendet und wandte sich wieder seiner Restaurantkasse zu. Nach unserer Auffassung ist dieses Verhalten Betrug. Er hatte unser Geld schon kassiert. Für 2 Nächte Superior Zimmer! Am nächsten Morgen sprachen wir dann mit einer netten Kollegin an der Rezeption. Frau M. war im Gegensatz zu ihrem Kollegen kompetent und handlungswillig. Sie organisierte den Zimmerwechsel, erstattete den zuviel bezahlten Superioraufschlag und eine Kompensation für die gestörte Nachtruhe. Der Unterschied zwischen Standard und Superior ist die Lage: Hauptverkehrsstrasse und Innenhof. und wir hatten ausdrücklich Innenhof bestellt. Nach der positiven Überraschung an der Rezeption der zweite Schock: das Frühstück. Das Hotel wird durch die Lage zum Musical vornehmlich von Busgruppen frequentiert. Wir hatten uns schon erst zu 10 Uhr für das Frühstück vorbereitett, um dem Ansturm der Busgruppen aus dem Weg zu gehen. Aber es war eine Katastrophe! Die drei Servicekräfte waren heillos überfordert. Schlachtfeld trifft es wohl am Besten. und keiner der Mitarbeiter war in der Lage etwas Ordnung in das Chaos zu bringen. Wenn Sie irgendwie können, suchen Sie sich ein anderes Hotel! Und wenn Sie es schon nicht vermeiden können, dann buchen Sie unbedingt Superior. Erstens ist an Schlaf bei Zimmern der Standardkategorie zur Strassenseite nicht zu denken und zweitens finden Sie dort eine Einrichtung, die wohl noch aus dem 70er Jahren stammt. Die Superiorzimmer sind zur ruhigen Hofseite und sehen aus, als wenn sie in den 90er Jahren mal renoviert wurden. (auch schon 30 Jahre her....) Selbst die Nähe zum Musicaltheater macht es nicht erträglicher. Das Musical selbst ist auch nach 30 Jahren immer noch eine Reise wert!

Das b&b liegt etwas ausserhalb der ”Hauptmeile” und ist deshalb ruhig - sehr gut. Trotzdem ist alles in der Innenstadt sehr gut zu Fuss erreichbar - für Nichtfussgänger*innen gibt eine Bushaltestelle vor der Tür. Alles erscheint ziemlich neu, es wird auch gerade angebaut. Die ZImmer sind sehr sauber und für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie großzügig und hell. Es gibt eine kleine Lobby mit Arbeitsplätzen für PC u.ä. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, allerdings wusste der junge Mann am Empfang mit meinen Anmeldeformular erst mal nichts anzufangen ;-) Noch einige kleine Nachteile: Da ich am Wochenende da war und viele Abends das Nachtleben in Bochum genossen hatten, ballte es sich zur Frühstückzeit 9-10°° sehr, dafür ist in dem kleinen Frühstückraum kein Platz, d.h. es wurde auch in der Lobby gefrühstück und die Schlagen am kleinen, aber feinen Buffet waren lang, das kann unter der Woche aber anders sein... Im Hotel und auf den Zimmern war es leider ziemlich kalt, bei einer Aussentemperatur von 18-20 C wurde die Klimaanlage sehr hochgefahren bzw. die Heizungen runter und es gab wenige Ecken, in denen es nicht von oben zog, Das ist im Frühjahr nicht nötig und macht es ungemütlich.

Das Hotel ist für 1-2 Übernachtungen in Ordnung. Ich Frage mich dennoch, wie dieses Hotel 4 Sterne bekommen hat. Wir sind schon in wesentlich besser ausgestatteten 3 Sterne Hotels gewesen. Positiv zu erwähnen ist das äußerst freundliche Personal, die gute Parkmöglichkeit (kostenlos) und die Zimmergröße. Das WLAN funktioniert einwandfrei. Ebenfalls gab es eine kostenlose Flasche Wasser. Das Frühstück ist OK aber das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht. Das Hotel ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen das merkt man vor allem im Badezimmer. Der Föhn sollte dringend ausgetauscht werden. Vieles ist abgenutzt und könnte eine Modernisierung vertragen. Es gibt keine Klimaanlage keinen Kühlschrank und auch keine Kaffee/Teestation. Die Zimmer werden noch mit Schlüsseln geöffnet. Natürlich weiß man das bevor man bucht aber ich finde das sollte mittlerweile Standard sein. Die Zimmer sind auf jeden Fall sauber und das ist das wichtigste.

We loved it. The hotel is a converted fortified house from the 13th century with extensive grounds that made for lovely walking in the Easter sun. Breakfast is plentiful and there’s a good choice of food, and endless supply of coffee. The bedrooms are clean, the beds comfy, and super-quiet. If that was all I knew about this place, it would be enough to recommend it. But it is not all I know. There’s more. What sets hotels apart is attentiveness to detail. And this hotel has that - all the little touches that made our stay so much nicer, they pushed the beds together since they knew we were a married couple, they opened up quiet areas for us to sit and enjoy a coffee. But there’s yet more. Staff are all friendly, competent and always there for you. Particular mention goes to the night staff, Ann-Christin and Erdal, who were somehow always able to find time for a nice chat with us despite having to manage several things at once. Go there. It’s fun.

Beds and housekeeping were great, staff friendly. Airco broken in both our rooms. We’d seen a review that someone also had problems before. Should have been fixed or worked on. One fridge did not work. Breakfast okay but more than an hour before it closed, some products were not stocked anymore because it was ‘late’. A la card dining was not possible on several nights due to there being ‘bus-guests’ who got a walking buffet. Bar often not visibly open, no snacks available other then wasabi nuts.

Had a great stay in Moxy Essen from 11/06/2023 – 14/06/2023. I was travelling around the Rhine Ruhr region with my friend (and we both have Marriott Gold elite status from staying in a Marriott for university). This hotel was in a great location right next to the HBF station in Essen and was clean and modern. The bar had a good vibe and we had free drinks on arrival. We used points for this stay, and the way that the points worked out meant that we had 2 different bookings over 3 nights, but this was not an issue and we managed to get the same room for the duration of our stay (we even got a bonus welcome drink for it)! I’m probably not going to do the hotel justice here, but it was a well laid out and stylish hotel with decent sized rooms. We had a twin room to share and the staff made extra effort so that we were on the quieter side of the building. We initially checked into the hotel at approximately 2pm, but decided to spend the afternoon in Wuppertal. When we arrived back on the first night. I had a shower, and there was no shampoo. No big deal, but I ended up going down to reception to ask for some. The man couldn’t find any shampoo, but about half an hour later, some appeared, I think he probably brought I from the shop as it wasn’t in the normal bright pink Moxy bottle, but it was really nice of him to make the effort. That day, the weather hit 32 degrees and whilst we were waiting for the shampoo, we tried to work out how the air conditioning worked. Between me and my friend that I was travelling with, we couldn’t work it out, so we asked the employee. However, between the 3 of us and Google we could not work it out. Anyway, I think we were the only people in the hotel that night as this was approximately midnight local time, and I think we went in every room in the corridor. To try and find one with working air con. All of them were empty! We eventually found one that wasn’t like a sauna and packed our stuff and moved. The employee was genuinely the nicest and most helpful employee I think I have ever seen in a hotel, very apologetic, but also very sociable. It was really nice to meet him as he was so happy to help. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name, but he had a ponytail I think and said he was Turkish. I think he will know who we are when he reads this! I saw him off duty in the bar the next night and thanked him. We even got 2 free breakfasts out of this!! The breakfast was good, though probably not worth the price we were told when we booked (I think it was about 15 euros but can’t remember as I have stayed in about 5 hotels in the past week and they have all rolled into one a bit). There was a few cooked items (Bacon & Scrambled Egg) and a few cold/ cereal items, but not loads. I probably wouldn’t recommend getting breakfast as all the Moxys allow a free coffee/ juice in the morning and a pastry, which is a nice touch. Eine neue, gute Adresse. Die Gegebenheiten sind von solider, gehobener Qualität, der Stil des Hotels entspricht heutigem Standard. Bemerkenswert gut funktionieren die Lifts, bemerkenswert zugewandt ist die gesamte Rezeption. Die Preise sind fair, bei sorgfältiger Wahl auch günstig. Nicht ganz so günstig erscheint die Anordnung der Frühstücksräume. Ein großer Vorzug ist es dagegen, dass es im Haus einen Durchgang zu einem Fitness-Studio und einer Bar gibt, wo man auch spätabends und nachts noch Getränke findet, und obendrein auch den einen oder anderen Bissen. Always a good stay. Sometimes, during the night a little bit noisy, but is nothing. Next to the city centre, next to a shopping center, next to good restaurants, free parking in a garage and in the street... What else :)
