Liked · Not far from ferry terminal to Dublin Ireland, (by car). Only good thing we found! Disliked · Advised we were from the USA and did not have a phone we could use, would have to e-mail upon arrival (as requested by owners), they are not on site. Had a locked box number for room no.1, arrived in the dark and perhaps solar powered lights would be great for outdoor sign with name on it? Box no. 1 was open, key taken, the room had been double-booked. Note on door said to phone owners if required, we did not have a UK phone to use. We were so pleased to find a guest leaving the B&B after we were there for over 1/2 hour, they let us in, and kindly phoned owners, who eventually gave us the lock box number for room 7. This was on the top floor, hard to go upstairs with our two suitcases, so we had to sort out essentials in small backpacks and leave the rest in the car. Could not park behind B&B as car park was full of bikers, so luckily did not have to pay to park in the road opposite, still scared car would be broken into and suitcases stolen. Room 7 was not made up for a stay, one towel for two people, bed hard but room warm. No clock in room, had to wedge our bedroom door open so we could hear movement from other guests, as bikers were to go for the morning ferry too. In morning I wanted a shower, as been travelling from America and then sleeping at Witchingham, not having the prior shower for nearly 48 hours, however the shower was immediately boiling hot, then instantly freezing cold, then immediately boiling hot, nothing in between, other guests complained of bad showers too. You could leave 6 pounds in your room if you had a cereal breakfast, still no owners in sight, no hot drinks, no table for room number 7, so we decided against it and could not wait to leave. Saw in the daylight that the place was up for sale. Spoke to a lovely man walking his dog, he said the Witchingham do not care and he hears a lot of bad reviews, now I know why.
