I stayed at this so-called 4-star hotel in Hong Kong for two nights, and honestly, the room quality was nowhere near what I would expect from a 4-star hotel.
The room had a strong unpleasant smell, including the pillows. I changed rooms twice, but the smell was still there. The hotel claims to have been renovated in 2016, but the rooms looked more than 20 years old.
The bathroom was especially disappointing. The shower area had semi-transparent glass, so every stain was clearly visible, and there was black buildup and mold all over the shower area. It was honestly disgusting.
The housekeeping staff also constantly shared the guest elevators, causing the elevator to stop at almost every floor. On top of that, some of the staff were quite rude and showed very little consideration for guests.
Another thing I found disappointing was the language service. The hotel seemed to be overwhelmingly occupied by Mainland Chinese guests, and staff would immediately speak Mandarin to me without even asking what language I preferred. It felt like they simply assumed every guest was a Mandarin speaker. Hong Kong is an international city, so I found it quite strange that there seemed to be so little consideration for guests who speak other languages.
The only staff who showed even a little courtesy were the front desk employees.
For a hotel advertised as 4-star, this was an extremely disappointing experience. I honestly wouldn’t give it more than 2 stars. At this price and with this level of room quality and service, I would rather stay at a guesthouse.
