I have frequented the Post Oak on many occasions, for business, leisure or just to dine and relax. My last experience was a feeling of change, but this short visit really turned me off. My client came in town and I referred them to this hotel. I had to meet for about an hour. I drove up parked on the side where there were absolutely no valet signs posted. (Where i have parked before or in the parking structure). There use to be a couple of FREE spots but they have taken them for valet also. The valet ran up to me stating I can't park there ??? Told me it was private property. I explained I had a short meeting with a guests and there were no signs saying no parking/valet. Now the 2nd person with me was like "Hey just go handle business and ill wait in the car". I was to meet my client by the pool. I did not see them, BUT the turn off was walking up to the big window by front desk and this man dressed in a suit demanding my room number. He did not say "Good Afternoon", "Welcome to the Post Oak", "How are you doing today". He demanded "Room #" and then blocked me from trying to see if my client was already poolside. I explained I was meeting someone and didn't see them yet so I called their room instead of being able to set up by a table so we could meet. I advised them we would go to a restaurant nearby because my experience today had turned me off from even being in the hotel. I won't be referring any future clients to the Post Oak. I could have parked valet, BUT since I've been there before I know the valet takes awhile when you want to reclaim your vehicle and there were already dozens of people waiting for valet. I understand exclusivity, but I think they have taken it way overboard. Maybe because now they have the Rockets training center a few miles away etc, but as mentioned before I have frequented many times before. Honestly, there are hotels all over Houston that are comparable. Maybe just to dealership makes it 5 star???
