Looks can be deceiving. This hotel is a gem. The lobby was comfortable and clean. The hall was well-lit and pleasant. As we entered the room I was impressed with how well the staff had cleaned between guests. Our room smelled fresh. The faux wood floors helped keep the room so much cleaner than carpeting. The accommodations were simple, but pleasant. What was the gem? The staff! I've stayed in five star accomodations that didn't do as well on the friendly level. I had a drop in blood sugar and the staff walked over with me to the restaurant, helped me get food, and made sure I was safe. One associate actually offered me her own snack! John, the manager, has trained the staff to treat the guests like family. Try this place- it's rich in cleanliness, comfort and kindness.

Best Western Hubbard Ohio was my first night out on my return trip to SoCal. Chose this site for two reasons, the distance from my starting point (412 miles) and the mostly good reviews. Overall, I was not disappointed. The room was very clean. Check-in was a breeze, and I was able to be on the first floor and park right outside my window. The staff is professional and efficient. I would not call them friendly but can't say they were unfriendly either. Just kind of there. I did get a smile from the young lady working the morning breakfast area. The location is a bit funky. Down a small street to the end which is right by a park. Interesting wildlife sounds at night, by the way. I kind of felt less safe for no real reason, solely based on the location. There is also nothing within walking distance for dinner, but there is a truck stop with a Denny's just a few minutes' drive away, which is where I had dinner. Breakfast is your standard Best Western ”hot” breakfast with some kind of egg dish and sausage patty. Of course, there is juice and coffee as well. However, a few hours down the road I started having stomach issues that lasted two days. I cannot specifically say it was the BW breakfast as it could have been the Denny's sandwich I had the night before. But it has made me decide to skip the breakfasts at my remaining four BW stays on my return trip. Overall, I would choose to stay here again if convenient for my travels
