Firstly, the taxi arranged by the hotel was disappointing. It wasn’t a standard taxi but rather a scruffy vehicle that didn’t feel appropriate for a hotel of this caliber. The three-hour journey on winding roads at very high speeds was uncomfortable, and I didn’t feel safe. There was also no water provided in the car, which was surprising for a supposedly 5*hotel service. I arrived at the hotel at 12 PM, as I had informed them in advance, but the check-in experience was underwhelming. The greeting was not warm or welcoming, and after such a long journey, I expected more from a 5-star hotel. My room wasn’t ready, and rather than offering any guidance on where I could wait or what I could do, I was simply told to sit on a chair. No one offered to show me around or make me feel at ease. When I raised my concerns with the receptionist, rather than apologizing, she argued with me—a very disappointing first impression of both the front of house staff and service. Breakfast was average, though at least the restaurant staff were friendlier. One evening, the WiFi in my room stopped working, and the response from reception was frustratingly slow. I called, and they assured me they would check and get back to me, but 20 minutes later, there was no update. I called again, and they casually said, “Oh yes, it’s fine; I’ll send someone.” Fifteen minutes later, still no one had come, so I had to call a third time. When a technician finally arrived, he confirmed there was an issue and said they would bring a modem. However, another 25 minutes passed without any update, forcing me to chase reception yet again. I was repeatedly told they would call me back, but nearly three hours later, I still hadn’t received any communication. This experience reinforced the poor service levels from front of house. To add to the disappointment, I had informed the staff that I would be checking out at 4 AM for my flight home. They offered to prepare a packed breakfast since I had paid for it, but unsurprisingly, it was not provided when I checked out. Overall, while the pool, views, room cleanliness, and the restaurant staff were excellent and lived up to 5-star expectations, but the front of house service, communication, and overall guest experience fell far below that standard.
