"The room could have been a bit cleaner — there was still quite a bit of dust in some areas such as the blinds and furniture. The furniture also looked a little worn with some scratches here and there. However, the bed was very comfortable, the linens were clean, and the pillows were soft. The room itself was spacious, which was great for our family of four, and our kids really enjoyed it.
The view from our room was beautiful — we could see the Oriental Pearl Tower right from the window. The breakfast was decent; we stayed for four nights, and the menu changed slightly every day, which kept it interesting.
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, especially Mr. Kim, who assisted us warmly during check-in and made everything smooth and pleasant.
The location was excellent — it’s right next to the train station, making it very convenient to travel to places like Nanjing Road and other attractions around the city.
We would definitely consider staying here again the next time we visit Shanghai. What impressed us the most was that we stayed on my wife’s birthday, and the hotel surprised us with a lovely birthday cake — such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture! Before we checked out, they even prepared a small box of treats as a farewell gift, which made our experience even more memorable."

"We chose The Ritz-Carlton to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and were thoroughly impressed with everything. Although the hotel is a bit older, the facilities are very well maintained. We booked a Pearl Room, and the front desk assigned us a fantastic room with a direct view of the Oriental Pearl Tower – it was incredible to see it so up close! The location is also superb, right in the heart of Lujiazui, with convenient access to IFC for dining and shopping downstairs. The soundproofing in the room was excellent, ensuring a wonderfully peaceful night's sleep.
Upon checking in, we mentioned it was our anniversary. Later that evening, we found a lovely small setup in our room, along with a complimentary cake and champagne – a very thoughtful gesture! A special thank you to Jessi from Guest Services for taking such great care of our child, even preparing drawing paper and kid's amenities. After dinner, our child enjoyed a swim in the pool, while we adults relaxed with drinks at Flair in the evening.
Furthermore, while the breakfast didn't offer the widest variety I've ever seen, it was by far the most exquisite. They even peeled and sliced pomelo and oranges for you – who does that?! You absolutely must try the potstickers; they're so juicy! There was a foreign female manager who was constantly attending to guests during breakfast, proactively asking about the food and helping clear plates. All the staff had smiles on their faces – I truly loved it!"

The Amara Shanghai is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Shanghai will find that the Amara Shanghai is a fantastic accommodation choice. Traveling to the hotel is easy with Shanghai Railway Station located approximately 4km away and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport roughly 12km away. Transportation around the city is also convenient, with Changshou Road Metro Station within walking distance. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Jingan Temple, Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple and Bandai Namco Shanghai Cultural Center Dream Theater all nearby. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. If cleanliness is important to you, this hotel makes an excellent choice, as our guests consider this to be one of the cleanest hotels in the city. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling on business.
"Overall, the room itself wasn't a major issue. The front desk initially upgraded my room, but that room was extremely damp, poorly lit, and the bed felt quite moist. When I informed the front desk, they promptly moved me to a room across the hall. I noticed that northwest-facing rooms tend to be damp but are more spacious, while southeast-facing ones are sunny but relatively smaller. My new room had a very comfortable and huge bed, easily 2.2 meters wide. The soundproofing was excellent; despite being next to a main road, there was absolutely no noise. The concierge at the entrance was also very friendly and actively helped with my luggage. I found this hotel to be particularly suitable for business travelers. Many exhibition attendees stay here, and a lot of airline crew members also use it for rest. As a result, you'll find quite a few international guests."

"I stayed at MGM in Shenzhen, and since I had something to do in Shanghai this time, I decided to try this one. Overall, it's still impeccable!
**Greeting:** The greeters didn't proactively help open the door upon arrival.
**Check-in:** The whole process was very quick, and you could tell they'd been trained, but they didn't offer a glass of water to guests immediately upon check-in.
**Facilities:** It's a new hotel, and the new equipment is excellent.
**Cleanliness:** The hotel cleans the rooms twice, in the afternoon and evening, which is very thoughtful!
**Fitness:** The fitness equipment is excellent, top-notch, and offers great variety!
**Environment:** The West Bund environment is very comfortable, a completely different experience from the city center. Being just a few steps from the West Bund Center is great and very convenient!
**Service:** Very thoughtful, most staff actively greet guests when they see them!
**Suggestion:** Optimize the food delivery service to rooms, for example, by getting robots. Because getting from your room down to the lobby isn't straightforward; it's not a direct route and requires separate movements. I suggest optimizing this!"

"They upgraded us to a room with a view of the airplanes, which made the kids very happy. I caught a cold after coming back from the island, and even though the ladies' sauna was under renovation, the butler thoughtfully brought me some bath salts for a soak and allowed us to check out late so I could get more sleep. That was very considerate. The bathrobes were warm but not very absorbent. The bed was as comfortable as always! A big shout-out to the room designer! It's small but has everything you need. There's also a robot that delivers room service and takeout, though the phone ring it makes when it arrives is quite jarring – it startled me every time. Thanks again! Willow, Ken & Kevin! We'll definitely be back!"

"I chose the 'Landscape Modern Room,' but the actual view was like what you see in photos 5-6. I had to walk right up to the window to catch a glimpse of the river. So, honestly, aside from the suites, there's not much difference between the room types, yet this one was significantly more expensive.
During the 5-6 pm 'Social Hour,' there was a female server with an incredibly bad attitude. I arrived at 4:50 pm, planning to grab a drink before heading out. I saw the drinks and everything already set up, so I politely asked if I could get something. She coldly informed me, 'Sorry, we start precisely at 5.' I questioned her, asking if they couldn't be flexible for just ten minutes. She snapped back, with an angry and strange tone, 'But I'm still preparing!' It was truly baffling; the cups and drinks were already out. What difference does it make if I grab one now versus later? A major turn-off.
Upon returning to the hotel around 7:30 pm, I was surprised to hear intermittent drilling sounds coming from my room. I reported it to the front desk, and they sent someone to check, but initially, nothing was resolved. At my insistence, they moved me to a different room. The manager's arrangement was pretty good; they moved us to a suite far from the renovation noise, which you can see in photos 1-3.
Overall, the hotel's location is fantastic; right in front of Qian Tan Park, and we even caught the Jazz Music Festival. However, the hotel's robotic, impersonal service, lacking any warmth, was a real letdown."

"Amazing experience above expectations. The hotel is in the middle of the centre, 10 minutes from the station, the staff is amazing most of them speaking English and knowing everything you can ask for as advice. The room was really spacious, spotless clean, equipped with everything you could imagine and the breakfast was beyond expectations. The concierge service was also amazing. I will definitely return myself and recommend this hotel to everyone."

"A small hotel about 5km away from Disneyland. Very convenient after a tiring full day in Disneyland. There's a free shared bus that brings you back to the hotel after a long day. Either that or a Didi ride will cost about 20ish yuan. The hotel room itself was very cosy and comfy. The cd player and projector makes it feel like a dreamy teenager room. We loved the room, everything was provided, clean and in great condition. The room had a large window, is well decorated. We had some simple breakfast as well - some porridge, egg and sausage. Basic stuffs but sufficient to start off a day. The hotel was quite small so we were surprise to find a small swimming pool as well. The service was lovely too, would love to stay here again."

At the end of a busy day, travelers can unwind and relax in the hotel or go out and enjoy the city. Guests of this Shanghai hotel can make use of the parking facilities. Our guests consider this hotel to have excellent service. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.
"The cleanliness of the room was certainly a problem. All higher surfaces had visible dust laying around and many places (curtains, floors, seats) had various stains. The pool was also quite dirty with lots of bugs and various leaves and dirt in it. The bed and sheets on the over hand, were fresh and clean. The location was ok for Disney, thanks to the shuttle service, however for anything else the location is useless. What made up for our stay was one very helpful receptionist, who was very supportive and prepared to help us in various ways. The ameneties were acceptable, but as said the pool was not inviting even if we did swim for a little while.
Like many of the other reviews have said, the photos are in the ad are very very generous. Most likely taken when it was brand new and with wide angle lenses. Expect. To stay in significantly smaller and greyer rooms. The outside of all buildings is also not as white as in the photos. We agree with the other reviews that the appearance of the photos is misleading."

"Traveling with kids, I always worry about them getting bored and us adults getting tired, but Xiqili completely solved that problem! The guesthouse has a fantastic children's play area. My little one had a blast in the swimming pool, and there's a big lawn where kids can run around freely. The room design is also very family-friendly – clean, tidy, and well-equipped. Our whole family was incredibly happy with this short trip; the kids are already begging to go back!"
