A hot tub on the lower deck offers privacy while still affording a nice view of the water with passing sailboats or the local ferry. You can do some bird watching from there using the binoculars and book references laid out in the living room. You are likely to spot bald eagles, king fishers and many other birds favoring the mild climate of Pacific Northwest. You may even spot seals, otters or a pod of orcas either from the deck or during a stroll on the beach. It sleeps up to 10 people in 4 bedrooms and has a sofa sleeper in the upstairs common area, has two bathrooms, an indoor gas fireplace and an air conditioner upstairs. It has a fully equipped kitchen with a gas range, dishwasher, a large dining area and a washer/dryer. For summer r & r there is an outdoor seating area and a propane barbecue. The house is located in the center of Vashon island, walking distance to the town of Vashon with outstanding restaurants, galleries, local breweries and wine shops, Island Center Forest hiking and biking trails, 0-Space, the Vashon Center for the Arts, Paradise Ridge Equestrian Park, and Pacific Research. Vashon is a accessible by Washington State Ferry from West Seattle (Fauntleroy), Southworth or Tacoma (Point Defiance) and is a wonderful place to relax, bike ride, hike, take horse riding lessons or trail rides, or to enjoy special events like the Garden Tour, concerts, arts performances, the Vashon Festival or Sheep Dog Trials. The property is easily accessible by the 118/119 Metro bus line, has high speed cable internet and two working desk spaces, and comfortable beds. To allow flexibility around pricing, the nightly rate is for 2 guests using one bed, and additional guests/beds are extra if you have more people to accommodate. Vashon is rural country, but you can walk to the best General Store left in the county, Harbor Mercantile (The Burton Store), a gorgeous 10 minutes walk. Also walking, the friendly Burton Coffee Stand is across the street. The Burton Loop, with its renowned Kayaking Center, parks and summer camp, is also a walk away. You can flag-stop Metro buses at the front gate of the house, for a ride into Vashon, the ferry, Seattle or Tacoma. Forest Cabin is a tiny house with a loft sleeping area that is 380 sf of coziness & solitude located on a larger 40 acre estate. Wake to a peekaboo view through the forest canopy & Puget Sound, relax in the outdoor clawfoot tub, rest in a hammock and watch the chickens and ducks peck about. Walk 5 minutes across the field to access 1000 ft of private, southern exposure Puget Sound beach. Enjoy a fire in the wood stove (wood provided)! Leashed pets are welcome with an additional $40 pet fee. The chickens and ducks meander outside your door. In the summer there are two hammocks in the trees for r & r. The beach southenrn exposure beach with Mt. Rainier view is 5 minutes away through the forest trails, and there is plenty of room for walking in solitude on the estate.
