This was our second visit to this fabulous hotel after the first trip in May 2023 was slightly impacted by the heavy thunderstorms that effected the region at the time. We decided to come back and give May Half Term in Sardinia another go largely because of this hotel. It is hard to succinctly describe what makes this hotel such a great experience. In no particular order: The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and they are all super helpful, friendly and welcoming. It was nice that some of the staff remembered us from last year and we received lots of friendly handshakes when we told them we were leaving. The food is really good. As we traveled with an 11 year old we limited ourselves to the buffet dinner (as opposed to the Al la carte restaurant) as it was easier to manage. The food is created to a high quality and has good enough variety to keep you interested for the week. The buffet style works well because you can have as little or as much as you want. The buffet breakfast is also legendary in our household for its variety and (for our son) its selection of sweet breakfast options! One tip for breakfast is to order a cappuccino and then keep topping it up from the urn of Americano coffee. The milk does a great job of offsetting the strong coffee and it is quicker than asking for fresh cappuccinos to be made. The facilities overall are high quality. There is a private beach bar for lunch and drinks where you can also hire an umbrella. One slightly confusing thing was the umbrellas were an additional charge but it wasn’t until day 3 we discovered that there is a ‘free zone’ within the hotel’s private beach area. It might have been weather related but it wasn’t clear at all. So make sure you ask if there is a free zone on any given day. The main pool has a lifeguard and was kept very clean. There is also a free gym with a reasonable selection of equipment. A nice addition was the musical entertainment in the evenings. A great way to end the evening watching the sunset whilst having a nightcap. We had a sea view Jr suite room (room 364). It was ample size for 3, had comfortable beds, was close to the facilities and had a lovely view of the bay. The room (and the hotel generally) was very clean and in good order. A hire car is highly recommended so you can explore the local area if the weather isn’t beach or pool friendly. There is ample free parking at the hotel. Castelsardo and Aggius are well worth a visit. Isola Rossa is 5 mins in the car (or 15 on foot) and has the basics such as beach gear shops, pharmacy, small supermarket and a lovely gelateria/cafe. We are now in the process of deciding if we go back in May 2025. We’d like to explore alternative options but Hotel Marinedda sets a very high bar and we don’t want to be disappointed by going somewhere else not quite so good! We may very well be back next year!

The best staff in any resort I've been for the last 30 years. Breakfast buffet was awesome. Spa was relaxing. Great place for friends, couples and family. Self contained but shuttles to nearby town available. Car may be necessary for outings. Highly recommended.

Excellent room, facilities and lovely, friendly staff. The Hotel is located in a quiet bay with a safe, sandy beach. There was an extensive breakfast and evening buffet available which was very good quality and there was plenty to eat! However, some aspects of the food at the hotel did not meet a 5 star standard. e.g. the main (2nd) course at the table restaurant did not always meet expectations (small portions and food sometimes not hot). The staff did respond when this was pointed out, but for a 5 star rating these basics need to sorted. The Beach bar had a limited lunch menu and some items were not good value e.g. a salad for 20 euros with no fries, potatoes or chips included. The staff at the Beach bar were fantastic and really looked after us well. Overall, a very good place to stay in Northern Sardinia if you are looking for a quiet resort in beautiful surroundings.

Our third year visit to this lovely hotel but no more because without warning from 7-00 to 11-00 an extremely loud outdoor band played and despite our room being a considerable distance away the noise could have been in our room even with windows closed so be warned,

As another reviewer said, the hotel has many positives - lovely staff, and on the whole, good food. But the hotel is not, in our experience, a five-star hotel. I would say four star at best. It's extremely dated, and has a distinct 1990s feel to the decor. I wouldn't say it's tired, it's just old fashioned, and would benefit from an update and some TLC. The location is fine. You can easily walk down to the beach, and a walk to Isola Rossa is an easy 15 minutes or so on foot. The table service a la carte restaurant is very good (Petra Ruja), as is the exclusive a la carte restaurant, Tramonto. This is particularly good, although doesn't open often. When we were there in early September, it only opened one evening during the whole seven days, which is a little odd. We didn't enjoy the pizzeria although I suspect we just chose badly. But on the whole, food has been very good, and the breakfast is extensive, although it gets very busy. We were surprised on arrival when we received a welcome drink. Not surprised to receive such a drink, but surprised that it was something I can only describe as orange squash, and not the glass of fizz or prosecco you usually receive at five star hotels. So the positives were the food and the people who worked there, and a particular thanks for Jasmine who waited on us during food service a few times. We wouldn't, however, stay at this hotel again.

Beautiful spot, highly advised to book a room with sea view. Small buildings with a big garden all around which is a fine antidote against over tourism. Exceptionally professional and kind staff all around. One guy even helped our kids to save a turtle from a hunting cat. The cleaning stuff arranged our kids toys in a nice order while we were at the sea. At the buffet dinner they let us in just because my smaller child wanted to have watermelon, even though we already used another restaurant. Both the gourmet and the pizza place is fantastic. (Why do they thought those creepy windows needed between the bathroom and bedrooms is beyond my understanding.)

We had a lovely week at Hotel Marinedda Thalasso with my husband and 2 adult sons. The Hotel grounds and location are idyllic, beautiful and peaceful. There is so much to love about this hotel. Some have said this complex is dated but I would describe it more as traditional decor and really captures the culture of Sardinia. The rooms are spotlessly clean, comfortable, quiet and private. It's helpful to mention that each room is a separate chalet, some a fair distance from eating areas and pool/beach with a lot of uphill walking but there are various pick up points where regular driven buggies pick you up and transport you around the complex. The best feature of this hotel is the food, we were half board and it was worth every penny (it also helped because the hotel is quite a distance from the local town - nothing is in walking distance). The breakfast lacked absolutely nothing - huge selection of hot food and omelet station, fresh cheeses/cured meats and fish, fruits and yoghurts, huge selection of pastries and bread - absolutely delicious. The evening buffet was just as impressive with a huge selection and often with some light entertainment on the terrace with a wonderful sunset. The pizzeria was fantastic and authentic but you do have to book in advance. The service at both servings is exceptional, all staff are welcoming and very accommodating. The beach and pool area is well maintained but there is an extra charge to sit on the hotel's private beach area which we felt with a bit of a cheek as the hotel is advertised as a beach resort. Now for constructive feedback. Waiter service around the pool was not consistent at all so if you need a drink you have to go to the poolside restaurant to get it yourself, this is no big hardship but it is not 5 star service. Although the rooms are replenished with water daily and free of charge, the rooms do not have a coffee/tea station which is very unusual for a 5 star hotel and greatly missed by us because we do like a late afternoon caffeine fix. The only other thing is a bedside plug, if you are like me and like to check the time throughout the night while your phone charges it's not happening here. Overall, a great stay and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a week of indulgence and rest to recharge.

Highly recommend for a week of relaxation. We stayed here with two of our teenage children in 2 rooms on a half board basis and returned home truly relaxed and refreshed. This is part of a small chain northern Sardinian hotels and you get a real sense of the pride taken in showcasing local products. The staff are very professional and friendly. The resort is low-rise and, with extensive planting, feels more like a village the slope offers lots of beautiful sea views. General ambience is very relaxed and customer-focused with lots of Italian guests and a smattering of Germans, Swiss, French and Brits. Rooms: we had rooms in the 130s, partial/sea view, completely private and quiet and not too far to walk if it's hot, a little over half way up the hill. About that hill: there are electric golf buggies zipping up and down all the time, from Reception all the way to the beach and you can be returned to your room on request. Downside: like so many places we've stayed in, noise travels (!) and the worst part of our trip was that our upstairs neighbors were night owls, returning at midnight and opening lots of doors, etc. Beach/pool: all lovely, we always found loungers for group of 4. With a little planning, we also managed to get the free sun loungers on the beach, of which there are about 30. Bars at both pools and at the beach. Sea: perfect for SUP/pedalo if calm and for surfing/body boarding if rougher. When calm, the water was incredible - green and clear and beautiful. Food; good but busy. If you are neuro-diverse or just like a bit of calm, this may be a bit of a challenge at times (in fairness, there is one quiet/romantic restaurant but it costs extra). It isn't chaotic and everyone is polite but it is busy and it is noisy. The staff work very hard to keep it all moving smoothly, often in very warm conditions. Personally, I don't need live music every evening, fun as some of it was. Breakfast was great and the poolside bar offers really good salads and club sandwiches (at a cost). Gym: I had studied lots of hotel photos before I booked to find one with an indoor gym. I thought this was; it isn't. The upside is that I was there early, before it got too hot. They do need to replenish towels there more often. They had often run out when I got there at 8/8:30am. Would we return? Yes. Special thanks to Marco and the team in the main restaurant and to Jasmine and the team in the breakfast restaurant closest to the gym.
