Ulasan Duck Hotel

When I arrived at the Duck hotel I was very excited. Moda & Kadekoy where it's situated is an amazing area in Istanbul. However, my dream turned to dust and the list why is extensive: The AC automatically cuts out after an hour and at night when it's 20 degrees Celsius you need that AC to stay on! So had to keep getting up in the night to switch it back on. Also there was a stench from the bathroom of fetid drains which seeped into the bedroom. Next there was a number of unfinished building works in the room which made it look like the hotel didn't really care about how comfortable your stay was, from exposed wires to foam filler. Also there was a steady stream of indifferent young men manning the reception in the lobby (which also had a cafe where no-one seemed to go, I wonder why???). When I reported a broken shower holder which had meant the shower head fell onto my hand bruising my palm, I was assured it would be fixed. It never was and the particular young man I told avoided eye contact with me whenever I entered the building. To top it off the lift broke down twice and as we were on the 7th floor had to wait for it to be fixed rather than use the very steep and dangerous looking stairs (especially with luggage). So all in all if you want to stay in Moda or Kadekoy I wouldn't recommend staying here, unless you're ok with sweaty nights, disgusting stenches, shoddy workmanship and CBA service.

The location can not be any better. We were very happy with our choice, lovely room. We slept very well. Oguzhan the receptionist was super helpful snd sweet. Probably next time we come to Istanbul we will go back to Duck Hotel. The area around the hotel has the nicest walking opportunists and great people watching.

Ok, so it’s not the worst hotel in the world, but tbh, it’s close. Don’t get me wrong the location is amazing, but my God, the hotel is not nice. It looks ok in the photos, but the bed is hard, the curtain fell off the wall, we could hear men talking so loudly outside the of our door all night till 4am, the room stunk of cigarette smoke, maybe someone was smoking in the room next to us? Honestly it was terrible, and the worst part, we found a used condom on the floor. We swiftly escaped. I know it’s very cheap, but honestly pay a little more and stay in a nice hotel, honestly you will thank me!

We felt very comfortable in our room, surprisingly quiet in Istanbul where all streets are busy with cars. And it is a nice walk from the ferries and close to the train station to Ankara.

The staff is friendly and helpful. As for the hotel itself: -door key card stops working every other day -frequently out of hot water -constant sewage smell from the bathroom -missing lightbulbs in the room -the cleaning of the room is so so

I stayed at this hotel two times and both were great. Hotel has a good location near metro, pubs and cafes and rooms are clean and good enough for two people

Room was clean and the location was perfect. There's also tea and coffee served while check in and check out. Loved it. Perfect for travelling

The staff are very kind, hospitable people. I think the location of the hotel is great. Reliable and close to kadıköy bull. The bathroom design is very cool and beautiful. What I can say as a problem is that I got the cheapest room. Unfortunately, there is no glass etc. in this room and therefore the room is very hot and breathless. I am sure this room is spacious in other rooms (with glass or balcony idk). Since I had urgent business, I checked out of the hotel without staying. I don't know if I could sleep at night in a breathless and hot environment. But as I said, this may not be the case in other rooms. They already informed me about the condition of the room at the reception, so I don't see a problem. A quiet, calm, pleasant hotel.

Nice place in a very good location of Kadikoy.

I stayed at the hotel for one night and loved everything. It's a great location, in a vibrant area, with Migros and numerous restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The metro is a 15-minute walk away. We were given a room on the 6th floor, comfortable and quiet, even with a sea view. The sheets and towels were clean and smelled nice. The bed was comfortable. The shower had hot water instantly, so there was no waiting time.

A hotel in a very central location on the Moda tram route. You can reach all your needs within 3-5 minutes on foot. The hotel is well-maintained, the staff is helpful and friendly. It has become one of my favorite hotels.

Booked a twin room for three nights two weeks ago, and requested a high floor with independent temperature control in the order. The hotel did not arrange a room on a high floor as instructed. The key point is that the hotel does not have independent air conditioning at all, only central air conditioning provides heating. The hotel reserved a room with windows on the second floor facing the road and asked us to open the window instead. Because it is on the roadside, it is very noisy and I can't rest at all. As we arrived in the early morning and had just taken a long-distance flight, we were physically and mentally exhausted. In order to get settled as soon as possible, we had to pay extra to upgrade to a room with a window on a high floor that was not facing the road. I had no choice but to open the window and found a lot of seagulls and crows outside the window, constantly shouting, which made the sleep quality extremely poor 😫, and the facilities in the room were badly damaged, with only half of the shower screen left. After taking a shower, the floor was all wet and I almost slipped. There was often unpleasant odor coming into the drain, which was extremely annoying. What’s even more outrageous is that the water supply was stopped the next morning without any notice. They said it was for maintenance, and it was not mentioned at all when I checked in 😤! ! When I went out, I had hung up the "Clean Room" sign, but still no one cleaned the room. Every time I returned to the room, I had to send a message to remind them before someone changed the towels, provided toilet paper, or took out the trash. . . . Our flight was leaving at night, and since no one had booked a room at the hotel, we wanted to request a late check-out, hoping that based on the above inappropriate behavior, they could make appropriate arrangements, but the hotel firmly refused. There is still such service attitude and quality today! ! Speechless and helpless. . . .

Let's start with the pros: good location in the Kadikoy area, right on the street along which the T3 tram runs. We had a room with a terrace and a view. And here's something, and the view really was - the tiled roofs of the Kadikoy area, seagulls, the Bosphorus - all this is literally 11 out of 10! The room itself is very well designed - a large area and logical layout, a terrace again. But the condition of the room is just a C - the wall in the bathroom is slightly broken, probably because a pipe inside the tiled walls was leaking, and there was no other way to reach it. The shower screen is attached as if on the wrong side (not where the water is, but on the opposite side), the curtains are falling off the hooks, the terrace furniture has fabric cushions, and in some places on these cushions there are traces of seagull poop. On the second night, the hot water in the shower ran out (it was flowing, but not hot). We thought it was the boiler and the water had run out - but it never heated up from night until morning. Overall, a very good location, and a slightly run-down state of a good room, which is simply looked after in a slipshod manner.
