We, 11 senior citizen school buddies, and our partners, totaling 17, spent 5 exhilarating days in the The Riverwood Forest Retreat Dooars during 15-20 January 2026. We had booked all the 12 rooms and therefore had exclusive access to the property and its facilities. The main features of Riverwood Dooars that stand out are: 1. Serenity: The calmness and peaceful nature of the place, devoid of the bustle of city life, was overwhelming. 2. Nature: The property is filled with trees and a large pond, with birds chirping and even peacocks squawking. 3. Service: Excellent set of staff, with Rahul and Birendra Lama making impeccable arrangements that all of us enjoyed. We particularly found that the food served was just what we wanted - well cooked, tasteful and varied. 4. Arrangements: We booked through their Delhi office, and Ms. Simran and Ms. Yamini were very cooperative and helpful in making all the arrangements, such as airport transfers, tours & safaris, music, bonfires, tribal dance, etc. Mind you, Riverwood is not a "Hotel", its a Retreat, and that suited us just fine because we were not looking for the "sleekness" of a Hotel. The rooms were large enough and well-appointed, though some work may need to be done on a few bathrooms, nothing serious though. Absolutely and highly recommended.
